Currently, the branch of air transport is one of the most dynamically developing branches of transport. Modern air transport systems provide relatively high quality of services in terms of satisfaction, preferences, and tastes of potential recipients, passengers, and freight operators. Air transport systems use highly advanced technologies, equipment, infrastructure, and appropriate rules and procedures in order to ensure the desired quality of services. The article presents an analysis of the volume of passenger and cargo transport in air transport on the example of the Warszawa Okęcie International Airport (Poland). The analysis covered the years from 2011 to 2021. In addition, the market of air services, and air connections with Warszawa Okęcie International Airport were characterized.

Rail transport is one of the branches of transport included in the group of land transport, and its operation is related to the transport of people and cargo by means of rail transport on a specially designated railroad built for this purpose. The article presents the classification of transported cargo in rail transport, the characteristics of the rail transport market in Europe, as well as the results of the analysis of the rail transport volume in Poland in 2010-2021. This analysis included an assessment of the following features: mass of transported cargo, performed transport and operational work, the average distance of cargo transport for a group of cargo transported by rail and the volume of intermodal transport. The obtained results allowed to conclude that the transport of goods by rail is systematically increasing. Moreover, intermodal transport is developing well.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę organizacji i oznakowania wydzielonych pasów autobusowych w polskich miastach ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem dopuszczeń innych użytkowników ruchu na te pasy. Stanowi on część pracy magisterskiej [1], której jednym z celów jest pokazanie zastosowania przydzielania różnych rodzajów pojazdów na różne pasy ruchu. Taka metoda organizacji ruchu jest określona przez autora jako „zarządzanie kolejkami pojazdów”. Część związana z analizą skuteczności rozwiązania w konkretnej lokalizacji jest planowana jako odrębny artykuł. Niniejsza publikacja ma natomiast na celu zbadanie istniejących pasów autobusowych z dopuszczeniami, gdyż tak w praktyce realizowane jest zarządzanie kolejkami, a następnie przedstawienie własnej propozycji oznakowania. Przy okazji zostaną poruszone tematy dotyczące innych znaków drogowych.

This article addresses the issue of the organisation and marking of segregated bus lanes in Polish cities, with particular reference to the admittance of other traffic users to these lanes. It forms part of a master’s thesis [1], one of the aims of which is to show the application of assigning different types of vehicles to different lanes. This method of traffic organisation is referred to by the author as ‘vehicle queue management’. The part related to the analysis of the effectiveness of the solution in a specific location is planned as a separate article. Instead, this publication aims to examine existing bus lanes with admissions, as this is how queue management is implemented in practice, and then to present its own proposal for signage. In doing so, topics relating to other road signs will be addressed.

Liczba jednoczesnych przepływów w sieciach nadal przekracza pojemność tablic przepływów. W celu zmniejszenia zajętości tablic przeanalizowano wybrane modele uczenia maszynowego, wytrenowane na replikowalnych, rzeczywistych modelach ruchu, aby klasyfikować przepływy już od pierwszego pakietu. Jak pokazano w tej pracy, możliwe jest zmniejszenie liczby wpisów w tablicach 30-50 krotnie, przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu 80% pokrycia ruchu.

The number of simultaneous flows in networks still overwhelms the capacities of the flow tables. Selected machine learning models trained on the reproducible, real traffic models to classify flows since the first packet were analyzed in order to reduce the flow table occupancy. As it is shown in this paper it is possible to reduce the number of flow entries by a factor up to 30-50, still covering 80% of the traffic using out-of-the-box models.

W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty badań nad mechanizmem pozwalającym na jednoczesny adaptacyjny dostęp do Internetu przy użyciu wielu sieci dostępowych w warunkach zmieniającej się ich przepustowości. Zaproponowano dwa algorytmy dostosowywania wag łączy dostępowych do zmieniającej się przepustowości, pierwszy bazujący na obserwacji średniej szybkości pobierania na istniejących połączeniach i drugi oparty na monitorowaniu czasu odpowiedzi na pakiety ping. Z badań wynika, że pozwalają one na znaczne zniwelowanie pogorszenia jakości obsługi wynikającego z zmieniającej się przepustowości łączy. Najlepiej wypada algorytm ping.

The paper presents the results of research on mechanisms of dynamic adaptation of upstream connection weights in multi-homing. Two algorithms were proposed, the first one based on observation of the download speed of existing connections and the second one based on the monitoring of ping probe packets RTT. Research shows that their usage significantly eliminates QoS deterioration resulting from variable bandwidth of upstream connections. The ping algorithm achieves the best results.

For many years in many Western Europe countries, cycling has been associated with not only recreation and tourism but has equally gained an important function as a means of transport used in everyday commuting to work, study and entertainment. The bicycle appears to be a very good alternative to motor vehicles that produce exhaust fumes and create congestion on road transport networks. Not only is the bicycle environmentally friendly and takes up little space in road transport networks, but also, the time of bicycle travel is often competitive in relation to travel made by private car or public transport. This article presents the characteristics of the bicycle infrastructure and services offered in selected cities in the world and Poland, as well as the issues of bicycle counters as sources of data on bicycle traffic volume, along with an exemplary analysis of this type of data.

Artykuł poświęcony jest badaniom wpływu mechanizmu priorytetyzacji ruchu na efektywność ruchową wielousługowych węzłów sieciowych. Przedstawiono w nim również najważniejsze algorytmy oraz mechanizmy wykorzystane do tworzenia środowiska symulacyjnego zastosowanego w badaniach. Artykuł zawiera wyniki badań które ukazują możliwości oceny wpływu mechanizmu priorytetyzacji ruchu na efektywności ruchową węzła sieciowego.

Uzyskanie sprawnie funkcjonującego transportu zbiorowego wymaga nieustannych działań ze strony władz miejskich. Wydzielone pasy autobusowe uznawane są za jeden z najefektywniejszych sposobów usprawniania transportu autobusowego. Form funkcjonowania pasów autobusowych jest bardzo dużo, a niewłaściwie przyjęte rozwiązanie może negatywnie wpłynąć na potencjalne korzyści. W artykule przedstawiono metodykę sprawdzania i oceny efektywności wydzielonych pasów autobusowych działających czasowo. Na przykładzie wybranego odcinka w Rzeszowie oceniona została organizacja ruchu oraz nieprawidłowe zachowania kierujących na pasach autobusowych.

Many city actions are focused to provide better public transportation networks. In bus public transport, this can be achieved by the implementation of bus priority, especially by exclusive bus lanes which are well-known for high efficiently. In this paper, the authors propose a methodology to check and evaluate the effectiveness of bus lanes operating at peak times. The survey was conducted in the city of Rzeszow (Poland). Many incorrect behaviors of drivers were observed during the research. Our research shows that more than three in five drivers have accidentally driven in a bus lane. In the paper, factors reducing the effectiveness of the adopted solution have been identified and discussed.

Prioritizing the development of public transit and enhancing its attractiveness is an important way to solve the problem of urban traffic congestion and achieve sustainable development. To improve the service quality and overall operational efficiency of urban public transit, an evaluation index system related to the comprehensive experience of passengers, service supply quality of public transit enterprises, and supervision of management departments was introduced from both the demand and the supply of public transit travel services. Based on the data distribution characteristics of the boxplot in statistics, the evaluation level and corresponding value range of each index were determined, and the comprehensive weight of the index was determined using the linear weighting method combining the analytic hierarchy process and the entropy weight method, so as to reduce the influence of single weighting method on the evaluation results of comprehensive service quality of public transit. An evaluation method of public transit comprehensive service quality based on the extension cloud model was established. The evaluation results of the model were obtained by calculating the cloud affiliation and comprehensive certainty, and a reliability factor was used to test the evaluation results, which solved the problem of randomness and fuzziness in the process of comprehensive service quality evaluation of public transportation and made the evaluation results closer to the reality. Finally, the established comprehensive evaluation model was applied to a city for example analysis, and the corresponding evaluation level was obtained as good. The value of the reliability factor in the model was less than 0.01, indicating that the model has good applicability and a certain application value for the comprehensive service quality evaluation of public transit. The evaluation method fully considered a variety of evaluation indicators, specified the evaluation level of comprehensive service quality of public transit, and the evaluation results provide a theoretical basis for public transport enterprise to make targeted improvement measures.

This article focuses on traffic modeling of intersections in Aimsun. The intersections studied are in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Every year, the number of vehicles on roads increases and congestions are created. Individual intersections do not have unlimited capacity. Simulations help to predict possible future problems and thus the possibility to prevent them. Accordingly, at intersections on Vajnorská street, a traffic survey was carried out using video cameras. Then, simulations were carried out in Aimsun. The results are shown in the tables separately for each intersection along with the determined overall quality level of the intersection. In addition to the current situation, simulations were carried out for increased traffic by 10% and 20%, and overall quality levels were also determined. Finally, the results were evaluated and compared with each other. This article points out the importance of research into the permeability of important points of the road network: intersections. It is necessary to carry out capacity assessments when planning any construction that will affect traffic in each location.

The use of information and communication technologies for solving economic, social, transportation, and other problems in the urban environment is usually considered within the "smart city" concept. Optimal traffic management is one of the key components of smart cities. In this paper, we investigate the reinforcement learning approach to solve the traffic signal control problem. Both the initial data on the connected vehicles distribution and the aggregated characteristics of traffic flows are used to describe the state of the reinforcement learning agent. Experimental studies of the proposed model were carried out on synthetic and real data using the CityFlow simulator.

With the increasing scope of traffic signal control, in order to improve the stability and flexibility of the traffic control system, it is necessary to rationally divide the road network according to the structure of the road network and the characteristics of traffic flow. However, road network partition can be regarded as a clustering process of the division of road segments with similar attributes, and thus, the clustering algorithm can be used to divide the sub-areas of road network, but when Kmeans clustering algorithm is used in road network partitioning, it is easy to fall into the local optimal solution. Therefore, we proposed a road network partitioning method based on the Canopy-Kmeans clustering algorithm based on the real-time data collected from the central longitude and latitude of a road segment, average speed of a road segment, and average density of a road segment. Moreover, a vehicle network simulation platform based on Vissim simulation software is constructed by taking the real-time collected data of central longitude and latitude, average speed and average density of road segments as sample data. Kmeans and Canopy-Kmeans algorithms are used to partition the platform road network. Finally, the quantitative evaluation method of road network partition based on macroscopic fundamental diagram is used to evaluate the results of road network partition, so as to determine the optimal road network partition algorithm. Results show that these two algorithms have divided the road network into four sub-areas, but the sections contained in each sub-area are slightly different. Determining the optimal algorithm on the surface is impossible. However, Canopy-Kmeans clustering algorithm is superior to Kmeans clustering algorithm based on the quantitative evaluation index (e.g. the sum of squares for error and the R-Square) of the results of the subareas. Canopy-Kmeans clustering algorithm can effectively partition the road network, thereby laying a foundation for the subsequent road network boundary control.

The feedback control based on the model and method of iterative learning control, which in turn is based on the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD), mostly belongs to the classification of single-layer boundary control method. However, the feedback control method has the problem of time delay. Therefore, a feed forward feedback iterative learning control (FFILC) method based on MFD of the multi-layer boundary of single-area oversaturated intersections is proposed. The FFILC method can improve the effectiveness of boundary control and avoid the time-delay problem of feedback control. Firstly, MFD theory is used to determine the MFD of the control area; the congestion zone and the transition zone of the control area are identified; and the two-layer boundary of the control area is determined. Then, the FFILC controllers are established at the two-layer boundary of the control area. When the control area enters into a congestion state, the control ratio of traffic flow in and out of the two-layer boundary is adjusted. The cumulative number of vehicles in the control area continues to approach the optimal cumulative number of vehicles, and it maintains high traffic efficiency with high flow rates. Finally, The actual road network is taken as the experimental area, and the road network simulation platform is built. The controller of the feedforward iterative learning control (FILC) is selected as the comparative controller and used to analyse the iterative effect of FFILC. Improvements in the use of traffic signal control indicators for the control area are analysed after the implementation of the FFILC method. Results show that the FFILC method considerably reduces the number of iterations, and it can effectively improve convergence speed and the use of traffic signal evaluation indicators for the control area.

A roundabout is not a popular intersection type in Japan. Vehicular traffic at most road crossings are controlled by traffic lights. This article comments upon a survey of Japanese roundabouts along with their numerical characteristics concerning, among other aspects, the location of roundabouts in specific areas where the surrounding is managed in different ways (that is, urban area, suburban area, residential area, etc.). Moreso, the location of roundabouts in specific regions and prefectures, classification of roundabouts according to the number of legs, outer diameter, etc. The survey in question was conducted as part of a project entitled “Analysis of the applicability of the author's method of roundabouts entry capacity calculation developed for the conditions prevailing in Poland to the conditions prevailing at roundabouts in Tokyo (Japan) and in the Tokyo surroundings” financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

Inżynieria ruchu drogowego jest skomplikowaną dziedziną nauki, która podczas projektowania dróg lub organizowania ruchu musi wziąć pod uwagę wiele istotnych czynników. Cały system jest wspomagany przez różnego rodzaju technologie – sygnalizację świetlną, systemy sterowania ruchem, detektory. W referacie podjęto próbę optymalizacji przepustowości wybranego skrzyżowania poprzez modyfikację sygnalizacji świetlnej. W wyniku przeprowadzonych obliczeń można stwierdzić, że nawet niewielka zmiana w funkcjonowaniu sygnalizacji świetlnej jest w stanie w znacznym stopniu poprawić przepustowość skrzyżowania.

Traffic engineering is a complex field of science that has to take into account many important factors when designing roads or organizing traffic. The whole system is supported by various technologies - traffic lights, traffic control systems, detectors. The paper attempts to optimize the capacity of the selected intersection of roads by modifying the traffic lights. As a result of the conduced calculations, it can be concluded that even a small change in the functioning of traffic lights is able to significantly improve the intersection capacity.

It is easy to skid and roll by centrifugal force and wind, which affects the safety of the vehicle. At the same time, the special location of bridge and tunnel connecting segment in the canyon will accelerate the wind, and make the transverse wind play a more important role in driving vehicles. Based on the acceleration effect of canyons on wind, the vehicle model is simulated by Carsim software, and the road and wind models are established. It is studied that the vehicle has different radius of circular curve under different wind levels, corresponding to different superelevation. The lateral acceleration, lateral deflection and transverse force coefficient are selected as the running state of the vehicle at different speeds to research the linear optimization design of bridge and tunnel connecting segment in the canyon. The result shows that when the wind force exceeds the fifth grade, it is possible for the vehicle to overturn under the limit minimum radius required by the standard value. In order to ensure the stability and safety of the vehicle, this paper considers the geographical position of bridge and tunnel connecting segment in the canyon and the relationship between the radius of the superelevation and circular curve. What’s more, it puts forward the optimal limit minimum radius of the circular curve with different wind grades of 5-9 grades. At the same time, when the road alignment cannot be optimized under the condition, this paper puts forward the speed limit that the vehicle safety can be guaranteed under different wind speed conditions. The speed limit can provide reference for traffic management and safety guarantee of mountain expressway.

Zarządzanie ruchem w mieście, nawet wspomagane przez działania inteligentnych systemów transportu, jest bardzo złożonym procesem. Analizowanie pojedynczego skrzyżowania może nie przynosić zamierzonych efektów a nawet przyczynić się do pogorszenia względem stanu początkowego. Najistotniejszym elementem wprowadzania zmian powinna być obserwacja ruchu. W artykule przedstawiono wpływ sygnalizacji świetlnej na funkcjonowanie komunikacji zbiorowej, na przykładzie placu Kościuszki we Wrocławiu. Przedstawione propozycje poprzedzone były kilkugodzinnymi obserwacjami ruchu i badaniami, których część wyników została przedstawiona w pracy. W artykule zaproponowano zmiany mające na celu usprawnienie ruchu komunikacji zbiorowej w obrębie placu.

Traffic management in a city, even assisted by intelligent transport systems, is a very complex process. Analyzing a single intersection may not produce the intended effect or even contribute to a deterioration from the initial state. The most important element of introducing changes should be traffic monitoring. The article presents the influence of traffic lights on the functioning of public transport, on the example of Kościuszko Square in Wrocław. Presented proposals were preceded by several hours of traffic observations, some of the results were presented at this paper. The article proposes changes to streamline public transport within the square.

The article addresses solutions implemented in two cities, namely, Mexico City and Katowice, with the aim of improving road traffic safety. Despite the distance of more than 10,000 km separating the two cities, a comparison revealed many similar solutions having been implemented in both of them. This comparative case study is complemented with a collation of statistics pertaining to accidents, fatalities and injured persons as reported in the period 2012-2015.

Passenger transport safety is an important issue. This paper presents a method for the identification of locations at the intersection of tramlines and road traffic, which are characterized by a high level of risk. Furthermore, different aspects of risk have been determined in order to analyse the problem in a complex way. For each aspect of risk, a measure was developed to estimate the level of risk. The application of the proposed method has been presented on the basis of an analysis of documentation of traffic incidents on the tram network. Accordingly, hazardous road locations have been identified.

Możliwość zarządzania zużyciem energii jest ważnym elementem nowoczesnych sieci i systemów teleinformatycznych. Wymaganie energooszczędności jest szczególnie istotne w przypadku wydajnych sieci szkieletowych i systemów przetwarzających dane w sposób rozproszony np. klastrów. W artykule zostanie zaprezentowany projekt dwuwarstwowego systemu sterowania energooszczędną siecią teleinformatyczną. Użyteczność proponowanego systemu została poddana weryfikacji na drodze obliczeń numerycznych.

The energy awareness is an important aspect of modern networks and computing systems design and management, especially in the case of internet-scale networks and data intensive large scale distributed computing systems. In this paper, we have designed and developed a twolevel control framework for reducing power consumption in computer networks. Utility of our framework have been verified by numerical experiments.
