During the construction of mathematical models for mapping hydrogeological conditions it is necessary to apply simplifications, both in the geological structure and in hydrogeological parameters used. The present note discusses problems surrounding the mapping of glaciotectonic disturbances that occur in the northern part of Wolin Island (northwest Poland). For this part of the island, a direct outflow of groundwater towards the Baltic Sea basin has been determined on the basis of geophysical survey results. An important feature in the hydrogeological conditions here is the isolation of groundwater from both the Baltic Sea and Szczecin Lagoon by clay with a Cretaceous xenolith. Such a geological structure explains the presence of perched water at considerable heights in zones close to the cliffs, without any significant hydraulic connection with surrounding reservoirs. Hydrogeological conditions of Wolin Island have been modelled using the Visual MODFLOW package v.4.2. In the vertical section, these conditions can be simplified to one aquifer (Pleistocene-Holocene), in which two aquifers can be distinguished. In a large part of the island, these remain in mutual hydraulic contact: layer I – upper, with an unconfined aquifer, and layer II – lower, with a confined aquifer, locally an unconfined one. The schematisation of hydrogeological conditions adopted here has allowed to reproduce present groundwater dynamics in the study area.

Drainage of aquifers, processing of copper ores, and surface storage of extractive wastes (post-processing copper ore tailings) accompanying the mining activities in the Lubin-Głogów Copper Ore District (LGOM), SW Poland, affect the natural environment of the area, including surface and groundwaters. The paper focuses on assessment of the influence of this processes on operating conditions of the "Sobin-Jędrzychów ” groundwater intake. In order to simulate the aquifer and processes, a multiple (7) layer numerical model was developed and water balance calculations were performed. MODPATH computational particle tracking analysis was used to analyze migration ofpollutants from the foreground of the "Gilów” tailings storage into the subsurface, including deeper aquifers. The modelling studies have shown that the impact of mining drainage on groundwater resources is rather insignificant in the area of the "Sobin-Jędrzychów” intake. However, its southern part may be negatively influenced by migration of pollutants from the front of the "Gilów” tailings storage.

The aim of this article is to introduce hydrogeological conditions and possibilities for water consumption in the village Sêkowa near Gorlice where inhabitants are struggling with periodic water service interruptions. There are present solutions to this problem. This object was achieved by the hydrogeological mapping of the terrain and numerical simulation of the hydrogeological conditions and possible options for water take off from the groundwater basin stream Rybnik. The result show that there are effective ways to provide the required amount of water conditions and possible options for water take off from the groundwater basin stream Rybnik. The result show that there are effective ways to provide the required amount of water.
