Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the possibility of using engineering waste materials in the form of brick dust and volcanic tuff as corrosion inhibitors. The corrosion tests were carried out on the aluminium alloys against aggressive corrosive environments with acidic pH containing chlorine compounds. Design/methodology/approach: The specimens for corrosion tests were cut from a sheet made of aluminium alloy EN AW-6060. In the first step the aluminium specimens was covered with a coating of clear alkyd varnish without any additives. In the next step used additives in the form of brick dust and vulcanic tuff were used. The tests were carried out using a RADWAG AS 310.R2 laboratory analytical balance to obtain the weight loss results for the specimens tested. Findings: Brick dust used in concentrations of 10% to 40% by weight cannot be considered as a material that allows achieving satisfactory results. This is due to the absorption of the corrosive medium by the brick dust. On the other hand, the volcanic tuff addition of 30% by weight creates conditions that slow down the corrosion process in the long term. Research limitations/implications: Consideration should be given to preparing all types of structural components for corrosion protection by blunting sharp edges for better adhesion of corrosion protection coatings. Therefore, further work should focus on obtaining a coating with an adequate adhesion as well as checking the action of volcanic tuff as an inhibitor in other corrosive media. Practical implications: The introduction of appropriately prepared volcanic tuff additives into protective coatings is expected to increase the effectiveness of the protection of the metal substrate against the corrosion process. It is therefore important to manage and monitor the factors that affect the coating and occur during the painting process. Originality/value: In tests confirmed the good properties of volcanic tuff, which slows down corrosion processes and preserves the uniform corrosion of aluminium. The result obtained has the lowest mass loss values of all the specimens prepared in the experiment, which proves the validity of using the volcanic tuff additive.

Post-disaster waste management is one of the most crucial tasks in the recovery phase of the disaster cycle, and it was created to assist affected communities in returning to a stable state following a disaster. To develop an efficient post-disaster waste management strategy, this study presents a multi-objective two-stage stochastic mixed integer linear programming model for post-disaster waste management. The proposed mathematical model was developed based on a mixed strategy of on-site and off-site waste separation in the supply chain. This study aims to minimize not only the total cost and the environmental impact to provide waste flow decisions and choose collection and separation sites, recycling sites, landfill sites, and incineration sites throughout the supply chain under the uncertain situation. To solve a multi-objective problem, a normalized weighted sum method is used to find the solution. A numerical case based on realistic data is presented to validate and verify the proposed model. Based on the numerical example, the results demonstrated that the implementation of the mixed strategy for waste separation with the consideration of uncertain situations can reduce the total cost, balance the environmental impact, and determine the unexpected situation in the post-disaster waste supply chain efficiently.

Powyższa dyrektywa została implementowana do porządku prawnego w art. 17 ustawy z dnia 14 grudnia 2012 r. o odpadach.
Co zrobić z coraz większym strumieniem bioodpadów? Wielopolska posiada plan i dobre przykłady wykonanych realizacji.
The introduction of a deposit-return system for certain packaging in Poland, scheduled for 2025 will be a significant change to the system of waste management instruments. The aim of the article is to identify and analyze the economic effects of the introducing such a system, with particular emphasis on plastic beverage bottles. Analysis of the newly introduced regulations, as well as projections based on data on packaging placed on the market and its recycling allowed us to estimate the scale of these effects, in quantitative and monetary terms. We concluded that the introduction of a deposit system in Poland would contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the Single Use Plastic directive; a goal that is unlikely to be met with the current system. This will be done at a lower cost than if the system remained in its current form.
The paper discussed both the benefits and limitations of the circular economy. Furthermore, we discuss that this concept is ambiguously defined.. A circular economy seems to be a satisfactory remedy for expanding environmental pollution and waste overproduction The benefits of the circular economy are believed to ever exist. Conversely, some premises to believe that rebound effects may offset such social benefits have merged in current literature to date by increasing overall consumption or “growing the pie”. We want to check if the circular economy positively contributes to the business model. Therefore, we applied the method of systematic literature review. This paper's value is important since it argues that we must integrate circularity across supply chains rather than limiting them to waste management. Moreover, indicators of the Circular Economy are not yet commonly agreed upon, and data are limited to waste. The paper recommends for further review of the circular concept.

W pracy omówiono korzyści i ograniczenia koncepcji gospodarki o obiegu zamkniętym, identyfikując wyzwania związane z dobrymi praktykami.
Waste management is a crucial issue in the contemporary world, playing a significant role in the fight against environmental problems. Inadequate waste management leads to the pollution of air, water, and soil with toxic and harmful substances and to the emission of greenhouse gases, thereby contributing to climate change, the reduction of biodiversity, and the destruction of ecosystems, as well as to the emergence of diseases and allergies in animals. The management of waste is primarily determined by its type and source, with recycling, incineration, and landfilling being the most common methods. The healthcare sector, with limited opportunities for waste reduction, has its own unique approach to waste management. In particular, dental waste presents a considerable environmental risk due to the hazardous and toxic substances it contains. A prime example of such substances is mercury (Hg), a toxic and bioaccumulative metal that was commonly used in dental amalgam for over a century. With the available statistical data, it is possible to recognize that dentistry can pose a serious threat to the environment, and steps can be taken to control and reduce the production of toxic waste and its potential impact on the environment.

One of the municipal waste streams is street cleaning waste, classified under code 20 03 03. They are not considered hazardous waste. Due to the lack of other management technology, they are sent to landfills. This waste, among other things, by its high chloride content especially after winter, can contribute to changes in the salinity of surface and groundwater and soil salinization, which consequently contributes to changes in the local environment and entire ecosystems. As it is deposited entirely in landfills, it also contributes to the salinity of leachate generated here. The Regulation of the Minister of Economy of July 16, 2015, on allowing waste to be deposited in landfills, the total organic carbon in waste deposited in non-hazardous and inert waste landfills must not exceed 5% of dry weight. The purpose of this article is to present a study of the quality of the waste on parameters like water content, organic and mineral fraction in the dry weight of the waste, and fractional separation. The water content of the waste ranged from 12–27%, while the mineral fraction in the dry weight was 91–94%. The smallest fraction below 0.05 mm accounted for 0d 1.8 to 4.5%.
In the article, the municipal waste management system was analyzed in the rural commune of Skrzyszów in the years 2016–2021. The analysis was prepared based on annual reports prepared and published by the Commune Office. The analysis showed that the selective waste collection system is functioning properly and that residents deliver municipal waste to the Municipal Waste Selective Collection Point (MSWCP) Pogórska Wola. Every year, the mass of municipal waste generated by residents of the Skrzyszów commune increases, in 2021 it amounted to 309 kg per person. The analysis of the fraction of municipal waste collected from households showed that biodegradable waste, bulky waste, and glass packaging have the largest mass share. Bulky waste, especially used car tires, was the dominant fraction of municipal waste delivered to MSWCP. The Skrzyszów commune has achieved the assumed recycling levels for biodegradable waste, construction waste, and paper, metals, plastics, and glass waste specified in the Waste Management Plan for the Małopolskie Voivodeship for 2016–2022.

Based on a survey by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the level of knowledge of the Poles in the field of environmental awareness and behavior was determined. The survey showed that the respondents are aware of waste separation. In order to increase the environmental awareness of the society, educational activities were undertaken among children, youth and adults at different professional levels.
This article attempts to find the strongest factors that impact waste management system costs. Case-based studies in three selected voivodeship Polish cities, Opole, Gdańsk, and Cracow found waste collection and transport, processing, and system management to be the dominant cost factors. The price of fuel, electricity and the rates of wages indirectly decide the determined management costs in the above-mentioned categories. The increase in waste management costs on a national scale observed in recent years is mainly from actions taken by companies to meet increasingly restrictive legal requirements. For example, the allowed time for waste storage has been shortened and the amount of environmental fees paid for waste landfilling has been increased. In addition, the obligation to watch the temporary storage and landfill as well as the implementation of fire protection rules. In the cities analyzed, the increase in waste management operating costs between 2017 and 2021 ranged from 41.3% for Gdańsk to 63.5% for Opole.
Mijają dokładnie dwa lata, gdy w „Energii i Recyklingu” pisałem o rozszerzonej odpowiedzialności producenta (ROP) jako „kwadraturze koła” gospodarki o obiegu zamkniętym.
Circular economy (CE) is seen as a key strategy for achieving sustainable development (SD). One of the components of SD is sustainable production and consumption. Poland, as an EU member state, has for many years been trying to imitate the good practices of other countries in the field of sustainable production and consumption, and above all, in reducing the amount of waste generated. However, the country’s economic situation, pandemic, people’s mentality, habits and other ecological, economic and social factors mean that the pursuit of CE is very slow. The aim of the article is to present own research showing the level of recovery and recycling of municipal waste in Poland in comparison to the EU, and the level of preparation of Polish society for the implementation of CE. The survey method with open and closed questions was used in the research. Moreover, the observation of the market and the analysis of the literature on the subject allowed for drawing additional conclusions. Research shows that part of the society does not segregate waste despite the obligation and higher fees, does not believe in CE and, unfortunately, disposes of waste incorrectly. In addition, the differences between the repair/ refurbishment and the purchase of goods from discount stores, or second-hand goods are so slight that it is not profitable for the consumer to repair, regenerate used goods - from an economic point of view, it is better to buy a new one at "cheap“ shop.

W maju Ministerstwo Klimatu i Środowiska wpisało do wykazu prac legislacyjnych projekt ustawy dotyczącej zmian w gospodarowaniu opakowaniami i odpadami opakowaniowymi.
