The major aim of this study was to establish the relationship between functional integration and competitive advantage of food and beverages manufacturing firms in Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey. The target population was managers working along the supply chain from 270 food and beverage manufacturing firms in Kenya. The two-stage sampling design was employed. The first stage, cluster random sampling, obtained 73 food & beverages manufacturing firms. Second stage, convenience sampling, selected two participants from the 73 selected firms. Thus, a sample size of 146. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data using both the drop and pick and mailing methods. Secondary data was obtained through document analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 28 to generate descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that functional integration had a positive significant linear relationship with a competitive advantage. Additionally, the competitive advantage is anticipated to grow for every unit increase in functional integration. Thus, the study concludes that the parameters of functional integration are crucial in enhancing a company's competitive advantage in the food and beverage industry. Consequently, the study recommends that improvements in integrating functions internally should be strategically implemented.

Specyficzny sposób zagospodarowania i użytkowania wyspy spowodował dodatkowe ograniczenie jej dostępności. Funkcje przemysłowo-magazynowe i militarne, choć zredukowane po 1945 r., przetrwały do początku lat 90. XX w. Obecnie na Kępie Mieszczańskiej trwa planowy proces przekształcania terenów poprzemysłowych i powojskowych w tereny ogólnodostępne. W artykule przedstawiono problematykę i proces powolnej integracji wyizolowanego formalnie i funkcjonalnie obszaru Kępy Mieszczańskiej z miejską przestrzenią publiczną Wrocławia.

Wroclaw, as a city with a developed waterway network, has numerous islands differing between themselves in the origin, the area, the step and the form of developing. One of them is the Kępa Mieszczańska island located in the western part of city’s section of Odra river. Already from 13th century the objects that used energy of water and water transport were located in its range. In the second half of 18 th century a large barracks, underlying of extensive military buildings had been formed. The specific way of developing and using the island caused additional restriction of its accessibility. Industrial-stock and military functions, although reduced after 1945, held out until the beginning of the nineties. Nowadays on Kępa Mieszczańska lasts a planned process of transforming post-industrial’s and post-military’s areas into a generally accessible space. The article shows an issue and slow process of integration the structural and functional isolated area of Kępa Mieszczańska with the Wroclaw’s urban public space.

Content available An empirical review on supply chain integration
EN
The purpose of this research is to review a sample of literature in the area of supply chain integration. Considering the extensive amount of literature on supply chain integration, it appears that it is still in its infancy. This study reviews a sample of 152 articles and in doing so throw light on different aspects of supply chain integration namely: vertical integration, functional integration, integration models .It discusses and criticizes the current state of literature on this context so that future researches find directions to contribute to missing points and remove obstacles. The scope of this review is limited to a cross-section of the literature in this area. As such, it cannot, and does not, attempt to be an examination of the full range of the literature, but a sampling of important and influential works.

A classical mechanical system subjected to frictional forces is considered in the limit of large frictional coefficient. Random white noise is also introduced in conformity to the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The velocity is split into a deterministic component plus a random stochastic component consequently, the evolution operator (generator) for the probability density in configuration space is evaluated recalling previous work by the same author, by stochastically averaging the flux of particles. The averages depend upon the history of the system, but memory may be eliminated by suitably defining the drift, in the limit of large time. The fundamental solution of the diffusion equation is recast into the form of a Feynman path integral, and subsequently transformed into an Onsager–Machlup path integral, whose regressive stationary solutions satisfy the minimum entropy production principle. It is focused upon the role played by the appropriate definition of drift velocity adopted in this approach, allowing for interpretation of the Onsager–Machlup potential

For the mass production of adaptive fibre-reinforced thermoplastic structures, the development of process-adapted piezoceramic modules is gaining central importance. Thermoplastic-compatible piezoceramic modules are being developed which are suitable for matrix-homogeneous adhesive-free integration of the modules in fibre-reinforced thermoplastic structures during a simultaneous welding process. The presented studies illustrate the destructive and non-destructive characterization of novel thermoplastic-compatible piezoceramic modules. Aiming at continuous improvement of module design and its manufacturing technology based on an adapted hot-pressing process, the adherence strength of the combined material partners after consolidation and suitable methods of defect defection are investigated. In addition, high voltage actuation tests under static and dynamic loading account for competitive module performance.

Ponadto, zastosowane wysokie napięcie sterowania podczas statycznych i dynamicznych testów potwierdza konkurencyjną sprawność prezentowanych elementów piezoceramicznych.

Purpose: This paper discusses the issue of information systems for managing plant and equipment assets utilised in production and service provision environments. It takes a holistic systems view of the business environment and proposes a generative learning centric framework that provides valuable learnings on the value that information systems provide and the maturity of the processes that they enable. Design/methodology/approach: It starts with establishing the definitions and descriptions of asset and its management and the role of information systems in production and manufacturing environments as well as in asset lifecycle management. This is followed by a detailed discussion of information system implementation for asset lifecycle management, by accounting for their alignment with the business objectives and their fit with the organization's cultural, social, and technical settings. The paper then presents a generative learning centric framework that provides valuable learnings on the value that information systems provide and the maturity of the processes that they enable. Findings: Theoretically, information collected throughout the asset lifecycle provides the basis for analysis aimed at generating valuable learnings that could be used to enable generative learning. Practical implications: Generative learning not only serves as the basis for evaluation of asset lifecycle management processes performance, but in so doing also highlights the gaps between the existing and desired levels of performance; thereby informing the asset management strategy and plan. Originality/value: The information systems frameworks provide for a continually improving asset management regime and its enabling infrastructure by extending the resource based view of asset management to a knowledge based view, thereby building competencies that contribute to competitiveness and responsiveness of the organisation.
