In the paper we compare Nakao’s method to our interval difference scheme of second order. Repeating some computational examples of Nakao, we have observed that our implementation of his method gives better results. Moreover, it appears that the presented interval difference scheme gives better enclosures of exact solutions than Nakao’s method. W˛e also point out that the considered interval method can be used to solve the Poisson equation with Dirichlet’s condition, for which Nakao’s method is not applicable.

To study the Poisson equation, the central-difference method is often used. This method has the local truncation error of order O(h2 +k2), where h and k are mesh constants. Using this method in conventional floating-point arithmetic, we get solutions including the method, representation and rounding errors. Therefore, we propose interval versions of the central-difference method in proper and directed interval arithmetic. Applying such methods in floating-point interval arithmetic allows one to obtain solutions including all possible numerical errors. We present numerical examples from which it follows that the presented interval method in directed interval arithmetic is a little bit better than the one in proper interval arithmetic, i.e. the intervals of solutions are smaller. It appears that applying both proper and directed interval arithmetic the exact solutions belong to the interval solutions obtained.
In the paper a difference interval method for solving the wave equation together the initial-boundary value problems is presented. Using an interval method together floating-point interval arithmetic guarantee, that obtained interval solutions contain all numerical errors. Additionally, each exact solution is included into interval solution. In numerical experiments it is guarantee contain all numerical errors in obtained interval solutions. Taken into consideration is the central discretization method with regard to space and time. An initial condition is approximated by the third-order Taylor polynomial with local truncation error of order 0(h4). In the paper new formula, which described discretization of the initial condition, is proposed. Therefore more exact solutions are obtained then in the previous considerations.

The paper presents explicit and implicit interval methods of Runge-Kutta type. Such methods introduce the errors of methods. It means that this kind of errors are included in the interval solutions obtained. Applying these methods for solving the initial value problem in floating-point interval arithmetic we can obtain solutions in the form of intervals which contain all possible numerical errors. Numerical examples are presented.

W artykule przedstawiono jawne i niejawne metody przedziałowe typu Rungego-Kutty. Metody takie zawierają w sobie błędy metod, co oznacza, ze ten rodzaj błędów jest uwzględniony w otrzymywanych rozwiązaniach przedziałowych. Stosując te metody do rozwiązywania zagadnienia początkowego w zmiennopozycyjnej arytmetyce przedziałowej otrzymujemy zatem rozwiązania w postaci przedziałów, które zawierają wszystkie możliwe błędy numeryczne. W artykule przedstawiono także przykłady numeryczne

In the paper we propose the interval multistep predictor-corrector methods of Adams type for solving the initial value problem (IVP) for ordinary differential equations (ODEs). These methods are based on the explicit interval methods of Adams-Bashforth type and the implicit interval methods of Adams-Moulton type. The interval methods considered belong to a class of algorithms that allow to obtain the guaranteed result, i.e. the interval solution that contain the exact solution of the problem.

The paper is dealt with two kinds of multistep intervals methods which can be used to solve the initial value problem in the form of intervals containing all possible numerical errors. The interval methods of Nyström type are explicit, while the methods of Milne- Simpson are implicit. It appears that we can get two families of interval methods of the second kind. For both kinds of interval methods numerical examples are presented and compared with other interval multistep method considered in previous papers of the author.

In our previous paper [1] we have presented implicit interval methods of Adams-Moulton type. It appears that two families of these types of methods exist. We compare both families of methods and present a numerical example.
