In view of more stringent requirements for thermal protection of heated rooms, an arrangement increasing in popularity is the insulation of steep flat roofs with layers of thermal insulation affixed to rafters. The paper discusses the design and execution recommendations for such structures.

The article describes a flat roof thermal insulation technology in which the insulation is set directly on roof rafters as an alternative to the insulation used between the rafters. It also points out the necessity of using new methods of fixing the backing under the roof covering, as well as the proper selection of layers of the flat roof.
