Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present a case study in the development and implementation of a risk management system in a medium-sized manufacturing company. The first part discusses the basic concepts related to the enterprise risk management process. A five-stage model of this process is briefly characterised which was used to build the system in question. This is followed by a presentation of the procedures developed for use in the practical implementation of the enterprise risk management system at each of the three distinguished levels of risk management. An example of one of the procedures developed and used is presented, together with a checklist for the analysis and assessment of risk factors for the identified risks. The risk management system developed for the company in question was implemented for practical use in the company over several months. At the end of the successful implementation of the system, the minor shortcomings identified have been rectified and it is being used by all, distinguished owners of the identified risks in the enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: This paper presents a new and original approach to the practical application of risk management in a medium-sized manufacturing company. Risk owners were distinguished for all processes carried out in the company and risk types were identified for them. Checklists were established to analyse and assess the risks for each distinguished risk type. Originality/value: The results of the conceptual and implementation work on the analysis and risk assessment of the implementation of processes in the enterprise obtained and presented in the paper can be addressed to those involved in company management, both in a practical and theoretical sense.

Utilization of companies trademarks and industrial designs in the market strengthens activities of selected companies. Authors of the paper analyse the significance of a trademark and industrial design for the level of the company's industrial property safety. The threats resulting from the lack of trademark registration were identified and analysed, and selected cases from the case law in the field of trademark protection were reviewed to indicate the scope of protection and safety of products placed on the market.

The paradigm of enterprise management based on the subordination of the management system to the requirements of effective value creation has made the maximisation of company value a determinant of the concept of doing business and a guarantee of the long-term existence of the company on the market. The active creation of value is a unique task for shareholders. Shareholders have the largest share in the area of internal factors that directly affect the competitiveness of the company. The aim of the research was to identify areas where shareholders have an influence on building the longterm ability of an IT company to create its value. The Delphi method (heuristic method) was applied. The participants (a panel of experts from a given area) represented a selected professional group. The objects of the study were companies from the IT sector operating internationally, and fulfilling the criteria of the company category, while their shareholders fulfil the criteria of the shareholder typology category.

Paradygmat zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem oparty na podporządkowaniu systemu zarządzania wymogom efektywnego kreowania wartości sprawił, że maksymalizacja wartości przedsiębiorstwa stała się wyznacznikiem koncepcji prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej i gwarancją długoterminowego istnienia firmy na rynku. Aktywne tworzenie wartości jest wyjątkowym zadaniem dla akcjonariuszy. Akcjonariusze mają największy udział w obszarze czynników wewnętrznych, które bezpośrednio wpływają na konkurencyjność przedsiębiorstwa. Celem badania była identyfikacja obszarów, w których akcjonariusze mają wpływ na budowanie długoterminowej zdolności spółki sektora IT do kreowania swojej wartości. Zastosowano metodę Delficką (metoda heurystyczna). Uczestnicy (panel ekspertów z danej dziedziny) reprezentowali wybraną grupę zawodową. Przedmiotem badania były spółki z sektora IT działające w skali międzynarodowej, spełniające kryteria kategorii spółka, natomiast ich akcjonariusze spełniali kryteria kategorii typologia akcjonariuszy.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to assess the impact of digital competences of employees on the level of SME enterprise competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach: The reasoning is based on the results of the research conducted in 2020 on a group of 140 Polish production companies employing up to 249 employees. During the research the author’s survey questionnaire was used, which enabled the assessment of competitiveness of enterprises and digital competences of the respondents. After formal evaluation of the collected data, they were subjected to appropriate statistical analysis using the Statistica 13.3 program. Findings: The study indicated that not all the areas in which employees have digital skills determine the level of enterprise competitiveness, however, digital competences in the area of sale, communication and promotion, customer management and in the area of the market and competition have a positive impact on the level of competitiveness of production companies. Research limitations/implications: The research conducted on a group of production companies in southern Poland has its limitations, which is too small research group, however, the author is planning to continue the research into competitiveness of enterprises of the SME sector, which will enable greater exploration of the research problem undertaken. In the future, the research on a larger research group is planned as well as international research to identify the factors of competitiveness of enterprises operating in European countries. Practical implications: The results of the research make it possible to indicate for business management practitioners which digital abilities of enterprise employees positively determine the company's competitiveness. Originality/value: The novelty of the research the analysis of selected digital competences of enterprise employees and their impact on the market competitiveness of organizations in the SME sector. The results of the research can be used by managers and owners of enterprises in the analyzed sector.

Introduction/background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important in today’s business environment, but operation of AI devices may pose a risk to purchasers of products incorporating the AI or recipients of services using the AI. This risk must be taken into account by the entrepreneur in his or her business activity. For this to happen, the entrepreneur must know the legal regime under which he or she will be held liable in the event of damage caused by the AI he or she uses. Aim of the paper: The article is devoted to a critical analysis of the draft Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on liability for the operation of artificial intelligence systems contained in the resolution of the European Parliament of 20 October 2020 with recommendations to the Commission on the liability regime for artificial intelligence (2020/2014 (INL)). Materials and methods: The considerations in this article are based on the literature on the subject and on the European Parliament proposed a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on liability for the operation of artificial intelligence systems. These materials have been subjected to critical analysis. Results and conclusions: The conducted analysis leads the author to the conclusion that the proposed regulation introducing different liability regimes corresponds to the specificity of AI, and compulsory insurance for high-risk AI system operators is an important step towards securing the interests of the aggrieved party, however, limiting the operator's liability at the proposed level does not sufficiently guarantee protection of the interests of the victims. The author is also critical of the fact that the regulation links the compensation for personal injury to the economic consequences of the infringement of personal rights, does not regulate the issue of the causal link between the operation of AI systems and the damage and the difficulties of proof faced by victims of the operation of AI systems. Consequently, the author questions the advisability of regulating civil liability for the actions of artificial intelligence systems at EU level in the form of a regulation, when it would be sufficient to allow individual Member States to regulate this matter while harmonizing national regulations by means of a directive.

The functioning of an enterprise in times of the market (and international) economy is exposed to various types of mechanisms which may change the scope of an operation. While an entrepreneur can predict certain symptoms of a change, e.g. in law, trends, etc., there may be situations that cannot be fully foreseen. Change management is now an important part of the management field. Adapting to the changing reality makes the company adjusts to changing circumstances, which means it has a better chance to survive or gain a competitive advantage. In this paper the issues related to occupational risk management in a crisis in enterprises related to the COVID-19 pandemic will be discussed.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to assess the ability of the Polish economy to absorb innovative products and to analyze the factors on which it depends. Design/methodology/approach: The methods of critical analysis and synthesis, the method of generalization and logical methods as well as the desk research method were used in the research process. Practical implications: The article contains the definition and content of the concept of innovative adsorption of participants and beneficiaries of the innovation process as a necessary feature of building a knowledge-based economy. On the basis of reading scientific sources and statistical data, the author presents cause-and-effect relations between the involvement of enterprises and organizations in innovative processes and economic development. Originality/value: The author presented his own definition of the concept of innovative absorption of the economy and developed a concept of creating innovative absorption in the enterprise. The article is aimed at enterprise managers, decision makers of state institutions and scientists dealing with innovation problems.

The possibilities of using cognitive technologies in the organization of systematic industrial enterprise management are described in the article. Strategic links are defined in the development of a system of stochastic models of enterprise management based on artificial intelligence. The possibility of introduction of the Perceptron model in the industrial enterprise management with the purpose of identification of "bottlenecks" in the functionality of business activity and improvement of procedures of decision-making in the framework of creation of the program of development and technical re-equipment of the enterprise is proven. The authors offered an organizational and economic mechanism of operation of an industrial enterprise, which includes new means of implementation of managerial actions through the use of a matrix of assessment of the level of implementation of cognitive technologies. The method of determining priority directions for the implementation of cognitive technologies at an enterprise was developed based on the results of the assessment of the depth of penetration of cognitive technologies and the result obtained from their implementation, which additionally takes into account the resource ratio of the implemented technologies defined as the ratio of estimates of the actual level of competencies to what is needed to work with new cognitive technologies, which allows to obtain the planned economic and organizational effect.

The purpose of this study is to complement the existing approaches towards the evaluation of the quality of ITS use in enterprise management. This article explores the point of using information technologies and systems in enterprise management and articulates an evaluation approach that can be applied to it. In this article, a Technology Acceptance Model is used to evaluate the use of information systems and technologies. According to this model, the use of any technology will be effective only if the Perceived Usefulness and the Perceived Ease of Use are high. The study surveys 120 industry experts. The survey sample is composed in accordance with the compatible criteria (competence, area of engagement, and experience of work in the leading companies). The Enterprise-Resource Planning, Customer Relationships Management, and Supplier Relationships Management systems have the highest scores, with the reliability coefficient of 0.89. A comparative assessment has been conducted on information technologies, which are used in operations management. The proposed approach can be used in any enterprise.

Celem tego badania jest uzupełnienie istniejących podejść do oceny jakości wykorzystania ITS w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem. W tym artykule bada się zastosowanie technologii i systemów informatycznych w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem oraz przedstawia podejście ewaluacyjne, które można do niego zastosować. W tym artykule zastosowano model akceptacji technologii do oceny wykorzystania systemów i technologii informatycznych. Zgodnie z tym modelem korzystanie z dowolnej technologii będzie skuteczne tylko wtedy, gdy postrzegana użyteczność i odczuwalna łatwość użytkowania będą wysokie. W badaniu wzięło udział 120 ekspertów branżowych. Próbka ankiety składa się zgodnie z kompatybilnymi kryteriami (kompetencje, obszar zaangażowania i doświadczenie w pracy w wiodących firmach). Systemy planowania przedsiębiorstwa i zarządzania relacjami z klientami oraz zarządzania relacjami z dostawcami mają najwyższe wyniki, a współczynnik niezawodności wynosi 0,89. Przeprowadzono ocenę porównawczą technologii informatycznych wykorzystywanych w zarządzaniu operacjami. Proponowane podejście można zastosować w dowolnym przedsiębiorstwie.

The modern period of industrial development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the conditions of competition and sustainable development requires innovative activity. Activity in this area manifests itself best when development and innovations related to it are properly managed. Therefore, innovation management and their development become the basis for the development of enterprises in Kazakhstan. Management procedures now, and even more in the near future, must take into account innovation in both manufacturing processes, services and education at all levels from primary to university. Particular attention should be paid to preparing especially young people to understand and accept the upcoming changes. Because success depends on the people who implement innovations and those who use innovations. The key to success is undoubtedly the proper management of this process. To find out how important the success of implementations from employees were, the Impact Studies of employees who directly face these changes were conducted. This study analyzes the stages of industry development with their characteristic management strategies and their impact on employees. The purpose of this study is to analyze the readiness of future employees in Kazakhstan to make new management decisions related to the rapidly growing development of technical progress in industrial enterprises. Comparative study of development, and also presents the methodology for its calculation. The study was conducted at universities in Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan. The results obtained show that any new management decisions in the work of enterprises in Kazakhstan and other countries, implemented using new approaches and tools, ensuring the efficiency and satisfaction of the company's employees, are also considered as the basis for the continuous development of employees.

Współczesny okres rozwoju przemysłowego Republiki Kazachstanu w warunkach konkurencji i zrównoważonego rozwoju wymaga innowacyjnej aktywności. Aktywność w tym obszarze przejawia się najlepiej gdy rozwój i innowacje z tym związane są odpowiednio zarządzane. Dlatego zarządzanie innowacjami i ich rozwój stają się podstawą rozwoju przedsiębiorstw w Kazachstanie. Procedury zarządcze już teraz, a jeszcze bardziej w najbliższej przyszłości muszą uwzględniać innowacyjność zarówno w procesach wytwarzania, usługach jak i w edukacji na każdym jej stopniu od szkół podstawowych do wyższych uczelni. W sposób szczególny należy zwracać uwagę na przygotowanie szczególnie młodych ludzi do zrozumienia i akceptacji nadchodzących zmian. Bo sukces zależy właśnie od ludzi tych wdrażających innowacje i tych korzystających z innowacji. Kluczem do sukcesu jest niewątpliwie odpowiednie zarządzanie tym procesem. Aby przekonać się jak istotne jest powodzenie wdrożeń od pracowników przeprowadzono Badania wpływu pracowników, którzy bezpośrednio zmierzą się z tymi zmianami. W niniejszym badaniu przeanalizowano etapy rozwoju branży z ich charakterystycznymi strategiami zarządzania i ich wpływem na pracowników. Celem tego opracowania jest analiza stanu gotowości przyszłych pracowników w Kazachstanie do podejmowania nowych decyzji zarządczych związanych z szybko rosnącym rozwojem postępu technicznego w przedsiębiorstwach przemysłowych. Studium porównawcze rozwoju, a także przedstawia metodologię jego obliczania. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone na uniwersytetach w Kazachstanie, Rosji i Uzbekistanie. Uzyskane wyniki pokazują, że wszelkie nowe decyzje zarządcze w pracy przedsiębiorstw w Kazachstanie i innych krajach, wdrażane przy użyciu nowych podejść i narzędzi, zapewniające wydajność i satysfakcją pracowników przedsiębiorstwa, są również uważane za podstawę ciągłego rozwoju pracowników.

Uchwalenie nowej ustawy Prawo restukturyzacyjne w Polsce spowodowało, że coraz więcej przedsiębiorców decyduje się na skorzystanie z sądowej ścieżki naprawy swoich przedsiębiorstw. Wynika to z faktu, iż otoczenie gospodarcze dynamicznie się zmienia, co przekłada się na sposób konkurowania i działania podmiotów gospodarczych na rynku. W przedmiotowej pracy autor przedstawia konsekwencje wszczęcia postępowania sanacyjnego z perspektywy organów sprawujących władzę oraz grup interesariuszy w postaci wierzycieli, właścicieli, instytucji finansowych itd.

The adoption of the new Restructuring law in Poland resulted, that more entrepreneurs deciding to use the judicial path to restructure their businesses. This is due to the fact that the economic environment is changing dynamically, which has impact on the way companies compete and operate on the market. In this article, the author presents the consequences of initiating a restructuring proceeding from perspective of the enterprise authorities and stakeholder groups, i.e. creditors, owners, financial institutions, etc.

The article deals with the issue of employees' participation in the security management system in an enterprise. The issue of participation was presented as well as empirical studies illustrating the problem of the study. The benefits from the creative participation of employees in a safety management system were also shown. It was stated that an employee’s participation in specific areas of business management is important and that it is a desirable direction in the development of the employees' staff and displaying joint responsibility for the workplace. The research was carried out in five enterprises engaged in the business of construction and renovation activities. The surveyed employees were employed in various positions and at various organizational levels, they took part in the survey and in individual interviews. Questions from the first part of the questionnaire generally concerned issues related to occupational health and safety. The second part concerned issues directly related to the safety management system as well as the creativity and participation of employees in improving work safety in the surveyed enterprise. Empirical studies have shown that some of the surveyed employees have a rather passive attitude towards systemic issues. The article uses the approach that puts human events in the epicenter as one of the most important drivers of changes taking place in enterprises. In order to further improve the functioning of the implemented and maintained systems, enterprises have created their own set of practiced forms of employee participation.

W artykule zostaną przestawione technologie stosowane w informatyce jako jeden z najważniejszych instrumentów wpływających również na zarządzanie transportem w przedsiębiorstwie. Dodatkowo zastosowanie narzędzi telematycznych umożliwi optymalizację łańcucha dostaw wewnątrz przedsiębiorstwa. Opracowany zostanie model matematyczny bazuje na fuzji klasyfikatorów rozmytych z teorią probabilistyki i teorii ewidencji matematycznej. W badaniach udowodniono, że miękkie metody obliczeniowe bazujące min. na zbiorach rozmytych i sztucznych sieciach neuronowych są odpowiednie dla zadania sterowania łańcuchem logistycznym, a wspomaganie narzędziami telematycznymi usprawni zarządzanie w przedsiębiorstwie.

The purpose of the research is to provide telematics system architecture. The technologies used in computer science are one of the most important instruments also affecting transport management in an enterprise. They may assist the utility of the system, its accessibility, the level of integration and substantially influence the performance of a company. The use of telematics tools will make it possible to optimize the supply chain within the company. This optimization applies to sales forecasting, which affects the material demand, production, etc. A mathematical model has been developed, which is based on the fusion of fuzzy classifiers with the theory of probability and the theory of mathematical evidence. The data affecting sales are, amongst other: delivery lead time, sales records, customer satisfaction, delivery compliance rate, delivery speed ratio, supply excellence ratio, lead times between order taking and delivery, etc. The study has proven that soft calculation methods based on fuzzy sets and artificial neural networks are appropriate for the tasks of the logistics chain control, and the support of telematics tools will improve the management of an enterprise.

W artykule przedstawiono przykład wdrożenia w przedsiębiorstwie systemu zarządzania projektami. Omówiono poszczególne elementy systemu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli kierownika projektu w systemie. Przedstawiono zakres poszczególnych procedur realizowanych w ramach systemu. W podsumowaniu przedstawione zostały wnioski praktyczne, które wynikają z procesów przygotowania i wdrożenia systemu zarządzania projektami w konkretnym przedsiębiorstwie.

In the article the author presented the example of a management system implementation in an enterprise. The elements of the system were discussed, especially the role of a project manager in the system. The range of procedures realized in the frame of the system was analysed. Additionally, the practical conclusions were given deriving from the process of preparation and implementation of a project management system in a specified enterprise.

Na ich skuteczność ma wpływ szereg czynników, do których zaliczyć można m.in. warunki działania, wymagania klientów, różnorodność produktów i usług oraz konkurencję Uwzględnienie wszystkich czynników sprawia, iż procesy te są bardzo skomplikowane ajednocześnie tylko wówczas są one efektywne. Należy zatem poszukiwać metod zwiększających efektywność funkcj onowania procesów zarządzania w przedsiębiorstwach. W gospodarce rynkowej wymaga się, aby wszelkiego rodzaju decyzje były oparte na racjonalnych przesłankach w celu wyeliminowania błędów przy ich podejmowaniu. Jednym z zasadniczych narzędzi zwiększania jakości decyzji są różnego rodzaju analizy ekonomiczne oparte na wzorcach sprawdzonych w gospodarce rynkowej. W artykule przedstawiono istotę innowacji i jej rolę w nowoczesnym podejściu do zarządzania na rynku TSL. Omówiono strategię stosowane w zarządzaniu wiedzą, a w szczególności koncepcję TQM i jej rolę w podnoszeniu jakości usług w branży TSL. Wskazano Certyfikat ISO jako element zarządzania procesowego.

Enterprise management processes are quite complex, but on the other hand they are increasingly important. This is influenced by number of factors, including: operating conditions, customer requirements, product and service diversity and competition. It is therefore necessary to look for methods that increase the effectiveness of their functioning, because all sorts of decisions must be based on rational premises in order to eliminate errors when they are taken. One of the essential tools for increasing the quality of decisions are various economic analyzes based on market-proven models. This article presents the essence of innovation and its role in a modern management approach to the TSL market. It discusses the essence of knowledge, management strategies, particularly the TQM concept and its role in the quality of service in the TSL industry. An ISO Certificate was indicated as part of process management.

W opracowaniu przeanalizowano zidentyfikowane ryzyko, które towarzyszy w prowadzeniu każdej działalności. Wykorzystując badania literaturowe oraz własne praktyki dotyczące zarządzania ryzykiem, w prezentowanym artykule szczególną uwagę zwrócono na fakt, iż ryzyko związane jest z każdą decyzją, tj. operacyjną, inwestycyjną czy finansową. Szczególnie w pracy podkreślono, że należy dopasować zarządzanie ryzykiem do specyfiki przedsiębiorstwa i skoncentrować się na charakterystycznym dla niego ryzyku. Zwrócono również uwagę na szersze uświadomienie kadrom zarządzającym znaczenia zarządzania ryzykiem gospodarczym i uwzględnienia go w planowaniu finansowym. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie i analiza ryzyka występującego w przedsiębiorstwie z sektora górniczego.

The study identifies the identified risks that accompany each business. Using research and risk management practices in this article, attention has been paid to the fact that the risk is related to any decision, ie operational, investment or financial. It is particularly emphasized in the paper that the risk management should be tailored to the specific nature of the business and should focus on its specific risks. Attention was also paid to a broader awareness of the importance of managing and evaluating economic risk in the financial management.

Celem artykułu jest analiza i diagnoza uwarunkowań zewnętrznych, zwłaszcza prognoz demograficznych, w kontekście oceny korzyści wynikających z odpowiednio wczesnego podjęcia działań w przedsiębiorstwie zmierzających do przygotowania się do nowych warunków na rynku pracy.

Age management involves undertaking a range of various actions aimed at increasing work productivity of older people, which as a consequence should lead to improvement of their situation on the labour market, allow them to stay in employment until retirement. The aim of the paper is to analyse and diagnose the external conditions, in particular long-term demographic projections, in the context of assessment of advantages resulting from activities undertaken early enough in an enterprise and aimed to prepare for the new conditions on the labour market.

W artykule podjęto próbę zdefiniowania pojęcia „przedsiębiorstwo”. Scharakteryzowano je na trzech płaszczyznach: ekonomicznej, organizacyjnej oraz prawnej. Praca przedstawia obszerny zbiór definicji oraz kryteria podziału przedsiębiorstw na rynku krajowym. Szczegółowo opisuje mikroprzedsiębiorstwa i ich rys historyczny, a także ich wpływ na poziom konkurencyjności gospodarki. Przedstawia także klasyfikację firm w Unii Europejskiej. Prezentuje aspekt zarządzania mikroprzesiębiorstwem oraz wstępną analizę cech mikrofirm i ich tendencji rozwojowych na przestrzeni lat 1999-2012. Na koniec ukazuje wyniki badań prowadzonych na wybranych mikroprzedsiębiorcach. Celem niniejszego artykułu był przegląd aktualnej literatury na temat mikroprzedsiębiorstw w Polsce i rozwiązanie problemu definicyjnego.

In this article an attempt is made to define the concept of “enterprise”. Subsequent sections provide detailed characteristics of this entity, on three levels: economic, organizational and legal. The article presents a comprehensive set of definitions and criteria for the distribution companies in the domestic market. It describes in detail the micro-enterprises and their historical background and the impact of small enterprises on the level of competitiveness of the economy. It also shows how the classification of companies in the European Union looks like. It presents the aspect of the management of micro-enterprises, and a preliminary analysis of the features of micro companies and their development trends over the years 1999-2012. At the end it shows the results of research conducted on the selected entrepreneurs. The aim of this article was to review the current literature on MSMEs in Poland.

Organizational management processes reflect capital allocation in a given business as well as in the macroeconomic space at large. In practice, macroeconomic forces acting on a given economy will depend on economic policy pursued by the state. Under the currently prevalent neoliberal outlook on market economy and its mechanisms, the impact of macroeconomic forces is confined to creating a specific socio-economic environment in which businesses operate, and to defining the economic content of (the category of) production efficiency. The paper attempts to depict the influence of macroeconomic forces on the criteria for assessing business performance that impinge indirectly on corporate management processes. The discussion leads to a proposition that while macroeconomic policy founded on neoliberal premises might well be conducive to business activity, it could be, in the long run, detrimental to individuals and to society at large.

The main scientific objective of the study was determined as development of a conceptual model of the basic rules, determinants and effects of the strategic approach to support absorption in managing the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The following were devoted to implementation of the objectiveof the study: 1. Expert studies performed using 3-round Delphi method whose aim was operationalization of the variables of the conceptual model and its preliminary verification based on expert knowledge and intuition. 2. A survey on a sample of 1,741 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, including the 1217 Polish entities and 524 companies from 21 other selected countries in the European Union. The primary objective of this part of the study was quantitative empirical verification of the proposed conceptual model. 3. Research in the form of a case study in 6 deliberately selected SME sector companies operating in Poland. The goal was qualitative (descriptive) presentation and comparison of the standard and anti-standard solutions used within the conceptual model developed. The paper is divided into five main parts. The first one was devoted to the possibilities and directions of application of the potential of the environment in managing the development of SMEs. The second part of the paper focuses on theoretical grounds for support absorption in the development processes of the smallest operators. The third section presents the research methods used and defines the scope of empirical work carried out. The next part of the paper presents the results of a survey conducted on a sample of the SME sector companies in the European Union, and the last part presents the report on the empirical studies carried out in the form of a case study. The issues undertaken in the paper are significant for those entrepreneurs who implement development plans through acquisition and exploitation (absorption) of the external support. Studies have shown that the SME sector companies pursue absorption activity with varying intensity. For companies with a strong commitment to this type of activity, it is recommended to adopt the proposed strategic approach to the absorption of support (along with the development of specific resources and skills shaping its level). According to the model, the orientation allows for significant intensification of the benefits which can be used in the processes of managing the development of the SME sector companies. The facilitation also includes the course of absorption activity without the necessity of a significant increase in its scope. The appointment of rules and factors influencing the strategic approach to support absorption should be considered to be a particularly important result of the project for the development of management sciences, together with an indication and empirical verification of the effects of this approach for the development processes of the SMEs. The proposed approach is embedded in the framework of quantitative and qualitative specificity of SMEs and associated with the evolution of strategic thinking in the direction of a dynamic and proactive approach based on occasions and contextual analysis of the internal and external conditions of functioning of these entities. This is a contribution to the development of the concepts and models of management of development of micro, small and medium enterprises, which emphasize the importance of the interaction between the organization and its environment. The analyses allowed for verification of 7 research hypotheses, thus significantly contributing to implementation of the objectives of the paper and to the answers to the research questions. The detailed findings and weaknesses (limitations) of research carried out and directions for further research are presented in the conclusion of the dissertation.
