Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to assess the impact of digital competences of employees on the level of SME enterprise competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach: The reasoning is based on the results of the research conducted in 2020 on a group of 140 Polish production companies employing up to 249 employees. During the research the author’s survey questionnaire was used, which enabled the assessment of competitiveness of enterprises and digital competences of the respondents. After formal evaluation of the collected data, they were subjected to appropriate statistical analysis using the Statistica 13.3 program. Findings: The study indicated that not all the areas in which employees have digital skills determine the level of enterprise competitiveness, however, digital competences in the area of sale, communication and promotion, customer management and in the area of the market and competition have a positive impact on the level of competitiveness of production companies. Research limitations/implications: The research conducted on a group of production companies in southern Poland has its limitations, which is too small research group, however, the author is planning to continue the research into competitiveness of enterprises of the SME sector, which will enable greater exploration of the research problem undertaken. In the future, the research on a larger research group is planned as well as international research to identify the factors of competitiveness of enterprises operating in European countries. Practical implications: The results of the research make it possible to indicate for business management practitioners which digital abilities of enterprise employees positively determine the company's competitiveness. Originality/value: The novelty of the research the analysis of selected digital competences of enterprise employees and their impact on the market competitiveness of organizations in the SME sector. The results of the research can be used by managers and owners of enterprises in the analyzed sector.

The paper focuses on Customer Relationship Management (CRM), based on latest national and international studies of the subject. The goal of the paper is to identify how the selected companies that operate in Slovakia understand the concept of CRM and to what degree they actively use it. Thereafter authors compare different approaches to management of company’s relationship with customers. They wanted to focus on a deeper analysis and decided to use in our orientation and evaluative research also a different approach, such as collaboration with international experts. In the paper the authors identify level of use of social CRM in selected companies in Slovakia and based on expert opinions of members of an international group they design an optimal model of CRM.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to analyse key logistics challenges in the enterprise management in contemporary conditions on the example of selected manufacturing and trading enterprises. On the basis of the literature studies, the author has presented contemporary trends in enterprise management and analysed key logistics challenges related to them. The research methodology has been described and the examined population has been briefly characterized. The results of the research concerning key logistics challenges in the management of the surveyed manufacturing and trading enterprises have been presented. Design/methodology/approach: The article is based on the study of literature and own empirical research. The results of the author’s empirical research presented in the article come from more extensive surveys conducted in 2017 regarding the analysis of logistics systems and logistics processes management in Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises in 2014-2016 in the context of building enterprise competitiveness. The research was conducted by the use of direct interview method with managers responsible for logistics in the surveyed companies using the author’s detailed questionnaire. 298 small, medium and large enterprises were examined from Warmia-Masuria Province (55.4%) and Podlasie Province (44.6%), characterized by a diversified competitive position on the market. Findings: The conducted research confirmed that meeting the contemporary challenges of enterprise management depends more and more on logistics. Logistics activities and logistics solutions enabled the surveyed companies to create competitive advantage, increase profit, profitability and enterprise value, and build competitiveness. Logistics managers from the best surveyed companies combined a strategic approach for creating a comprehensive concept of logistics activities and solutions with a quick and adequate response to permanently changing market conditions. Due to the limited volume of the article, only selected aspects of key logistics challenges in the management of the surveyed enterprises were presented. Research limitations/implications: The literature emphasizes that logistics will have an ever growing influence on enterprise management, which is also confirmed by the empirical studies; more and more logistics managers, including in Polish companies, administer logistics processes on the scale of an enterprise and the entire supply chain, or on the scale of an enterprise including opportunities and threats resulting from the existence of a network of co-operators and opportunities associated with establishing relationships with new co-operators. The issues presented in the article require further, in-depth research. Practical implications: The results of theoretical and empirical studies presented in the article have a practical significance. The author offered logistics managers of Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises practical suggestions for using logistics in the process of enterprise management and presented key challenges related to them. Originality/value: The article fills the cognitive gap regarding the issues of key logistics challenges in enterprise management in contemporary conditions. The author carried out a comprehensive literature review on contemporary trends in the enterprise management and analysis of key logistics challenges related to them. The article also fills the empirical gap. It presents the research results concerning key logistics challenges in management of the surveyed manufacturing and trading enterprises. The research results presented in the article can be used by logistics managers of Polish manufacturing and trading enterprises.

Artykuł stanowi pierwszą część opracowania, którego celem jest przedstawienie wpływu logistyki na konkurencyjność przedsiębiorstwa usługowego we współczesnych uwarunkowaniach na przykładzie wybranych przedsiębiorstw usługowych. Na podstawie studiów literaturowych zaprezentowano proces budowania konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstwa usługowego oraz oddziaływanie logistyki na konkurencyjność współczesnych przedsiębiorstw usługowych. Opisano metodykę badań i dokonano skrótowej charakterystyki badanej populacji. Przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące wybranych aspektów uwarunkowań logistyki w zarządzaniu badanymi przedsiębiorstwami.

Podjęto w nim próbę pogłębionej analizy systemów logistycznych i zarządzania procesami logistycznymi w badanych przedsiębiorstwach usługowych w kontekście budowania konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstwa i oceny wpływu logistyki na konkurencyjność badanych przedsiębiorstw.

The aim of this article is to analyse and evaluate the role of innovation in the process of enterprise management in conditions of economic fluctuations on the example of selected manufacturing and trading enterprises. In this article, the theoretical aspects of innovation in enterprise management in conditions of economic fluctuations have been presented. The author described the research methodology and made a brief characterisation of the surveyed population. The author presented the results of the research on innovation in the process of managing the surveyed enterprises in times of economic fluctuations and undertook an attempt to evaluate their impact on competitiveness of the surveyed companies.

Celem artykułu jest analiza i ocena roli innowacji w procesie zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem w warunkach wahań koniunktury na przykładzie wybranych przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych i handlowych. Zaprezentowano w nim teoretyczne aspekty innowacji w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem w warunkach wahań koniunktury. Opisano metodykę badań i dokonano skrótowej charakterystyki badanej populacji. Przedstawiono wyniki badań, dotyczące innowacji stosowanych w procesie zarządzania badanymi przedsiębiorstwami w okresie wahań koniunktury i podjęto próbę oceny wpływu realizowanych innowacji na konkurencyjność badanych firm.

Contemporary servicing companies are forced to deal with rapidly growing competition, as well as with more and more excessive demands from clients. Recently the role of marketing tools designed to create bonds between a service provider and a client has improved. The aim of the article is to describe the role of a service brand in creating competitive advantage, and presenting the idea of partnership marketing as a new marketing strategy that supports strengthening bonds between a brand and a client as well as its long-term existence.

Współczesne przedsiębiorstwa usługowe zmuszane są radzić sobie z coraz bardziej narastającą konkurencją, a także z coraz bardziej wygórowanymi wymaganiami klientów. W ostatnim czasie istotnie wzrasta rola narządzi marketingowych służących kreowaniu więzi między usługodawcą i klientem. Celem artykułu jest określenie roli marki usług w kreowaniu przewagi konkurencyjnej oraz przedstawienie idei marketingu partnerskiego, jako nowej strategii marketingowej wspierającej zacieśnianie więzi między marką i klientem, a także jego długoterminowe utrzymanie.

Zdaniem wielu polityków, ekonomistów i menedżerów zwiększanie obciążeń nakładanych na przedsiębiorstwa w zakresie ochrony Środowiska może mieć negatywny wpływ zarówno na konkurencyjność poszczególnych podmiotów gospodarczych, jak również na konkurencyjność całych branż oraz gospodarek. Do końca lat osiemdziesiątych XX wieku poglądy te były dość powszechnie akceptowane i rzadko podejmowano próby ich empirycznej weryfikacji. W myśl ogólnie panującego przekonania - dla pojedynczego przedsiębiorstwa wzrost obowiązków w zakresie ochrony środowiska przyrodniczego (niezależnie od tego, czy spowodowany nałożeniem nowych regulacji, czy dobrowolną inicjatywą) oznacza między innymi pogorszenie jakości produktów i wzrost kosztów produkcji. To z kolei pociąga za sobą pogorszenie jego pozycji konkurencyjnej.

Discussion on research carried out about the relationship between fundamental activities of enterprises and their additional activities on behalf of environmental protection is presented in the article. On the basis of this research, it may be concluded that no negative impact of the activities has been observed on enterprise competitiveness. On the other hand, research shows that there is little evidence that enterprises benefit from pro-environmental actions. Therefore, it may be concluded that analysis of the issues discussed in the article is a difficult objective because of numerous determining factors.

We współczesnej gospodarce duże znaczenie mają przedsiębiorstwa międzynarodowe, które są głównymi aktorami współczesnej globalizacji. Działają one w warunkach rynku międzynarodowego, a poszczególne państwa i regiony starają się podkreślać swoją konkurencyjność ekonomiczną i stwarzać korzystne warunki do ich funkcjonowania. Obecnie dominuje więc polityczna koncepcja "państwa i regionu konkurencyjnego". Z powodu braku uregulowań same przedsiębiorstwa podejmują działania na rzecz trwałego i zrównoważonego rozwoju, a przede wszystkim ograniczenia negatywnych skutków ekologicznych i społecznych. Prowadzi to do prywatyzacji polityki światowej, między innymi w zakresie rozwoju trwałego.

At present, predominant globalization in economy is connected to the development of international corporations. In an economic sense, they are often as important as average size countries. Up to now, international corporations have not been included in the framework of global governance regulations. Voluntary agreements on sustainable development and environmental protection are most common. Presently, privatization of world policy, including environmental policy, is developing very quickly. Under functioning conditions of "a competitive (e.g. ISO 14000 or EMAS) state and region", actions aiming at maintaining the environment and sustainable development are indispensable, as are different means on international level (e.g. Global Compact, OECD directives for international corporations), and on a private level(CERES/GRI 2000, ICC Charta, Responsible Care).

Risk of the firm's activity influences capital securities risk and vice versa: more risky activity - more risky securities for potential stockholders. Risk of firm's activity is understood as a variability of futures cash flows or possibility of going to bankruptcy. Risk reduction is the most important manager's task. A dependency of variability of securities prices on firm's activity risk valuation is described in the paper. Some statistic measures of the risk and risk reduction possibilities (measured by standard deviation) by merging are presented.
