The article deals with the protection of the environment, which in modern terms, the concept seems to be very large and multidisciplinary. The increasing number of vehicles on the streets globally emits more toxic compounds into the atmosphere. Taking into account the construction of the vehicle, the drive unit and the individual components working together have the greatest impact on emissions. Collected and systematized knowledge of chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, economics, management and logistics is essential to the reduction of harmful germs each of the vehicles, so that they can meet the latest normalize the European Union. Due to a lot of current research work presented technologies and solutions used in internal combustion engines, which are having an impact on reducing emissions. The analysis was conducted in conjunction with existing or planned regulations in the field of permissible emissions of harmful exhaust components.
Pollution caused by road transportation is the major factor affecting human health and adversely affecting the global warming. In the study, a system dynamics model has been applied to forecast vehicle emissions from road transport to evaluate policies in the transportation management. The proposed model was applied to evaluate and compare three transportation policy scenarios including road expansion, public transit incentive and enforcement of quality norms for vehicles. The pollution emission data is taken in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The pollution in the study area will increase substantially if no management plans are implemented. The impact of population increase on transportation pollution has also been considered. It was found that among the proposed policies, implementation of the transit incentive policy to adopt public transports and the implementation of Bharat Stage IV norms for vehicles proved to be efficient in reducing the transport pollution to a great extent.

The paper presents an integrated computer system that allows computer modeling emission and dispersion of car exhaust pollutants near road section. This system consists of three connected modules: transport, emission and dispersion. Transport module allows to simulate different road scenarios taking into account changes in traffic flow. Road emission is calculated according to HBEFA model in emission module. The most important module is the dispersion. This module is based on gaussian finite line source model and allows to draw up map of pollutants concentration. To define parameters of dispersion model, a meteorological pre-processor based on relationships obtained from the Monin-Obukhov theory is used. Integrated computer system is also consists connected with to geographical information systems (GIS). GIS enables the visualization and analysis of pollutant concentration in different scales. It is a data source input and can be put-upon pre- and post- process of given digital, and also for the analysis and visualization of results. The analysis usually concerns average, minimum, maximum and exceeded permissible values of concentration in fixed area.

W pracy przedstawiono zintegrowany system komputerowy umożliwiający modelowanie emisji i stężeń zanieczyszczeń w pobliżu istniejących i projektowanych ciągów komunikacyjnych.
