This article seeks to address the pressing issue of developing the innovative activity of the domestic economy through the use of the potential of small and medium-sized enterprises, which has to do with the possibility of application of existing experience of the more developed foreign countries in order to achieve economic success. The purpose of this study is to examine the trends in the development of innovative activity of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine, as well as to determine the distribution of the total amount of expenditures by areas of innovation. Analysis of the literature on this issue has shown that the economic development of a country depends on many factors, and the use of intellectual potential is quite a significant factor in modern society. The relevance of this issue is supported by the fact that the majority of developed countries that have high levels of national income and are distinguished by the quality of life of the population are introducing the latest innovative inventions and using them appropriately in: production, agriculture, trade and other fields of activity. The research of the development of innovation activity of small and medium-sized enterprises in the article is carried out in the following logical sequence: analysis of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine, analysis of small and medium-sized enterprises of EU countries, evaluation and comparison of innovation activity of Ukraine and EU countries. The methodical tools of the study included methods of statistical analysis. The study period was 2010-2018. The object of analysis is the process of development of innovation activity of small and medium-sized enterprises, as they are the majority of enterprises in Ukraine. The article presents the results of the analysis of the state of innovation the activity of small and medium-sized enterprises, which showed that our country needs significant transformation in this direction. Studies show that increasing the turnover and the production of small and medium-sized enterprises depends on the level of innovative development. The results of the study may be useful for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie podejścia efektywnościowego do sposobu określania części wynagrodzenia, do którego mogą mieć zastosowanie podwyższone koszty uzyskania przychodów (k.u.p.). Koncepcja oparta jest na, oczekiwanej przez pracodawcę i rzeczywiście osiągniętej przez pracownika, wartości wytworzonych utworów. Punkt wyjścia w koncepcji stanowiły obowiązujące regulacje prawne oraz zasady i wyniki kompleksowej oceny jednostek naukowych przeprowadzonej w 2017 r. Wykorzystanie obiektywnych danych wejściowych pozwoliło na wypracowanie formuły, którą można wykorzystać w różnych jednostkach prowadzących działalność naukową lub badawczo-rozwojową, niezależnie od formy prawnej jednostki i obszaru, w jakim prowadzone są badania. Ograniczeniem koncepcji jest możliwość zastosowania jej głównie do działalności naukowej i badawczo-rozwojowej oraz konieczność modyfikacji dla akademickiej działalności dydaktycznej.

The aim of the article is to present an efficiency approach relating to the method of assessment of the part of remuneration payments, in the case when increased tax deductible costs may apply. The value of the composition actually created by the member of staff pertaining to employer expectation is the core of concept. Present legal regulations as well as the principles and results of the comprehensive assessment of scientific units carried out in 2017 is used as the starting point. The use of factual data input allowed to develop a formula that can be used in various entities conducting scientific or research and development activities, regardless both the legal status of the entity and the field of the research works. The possibility to apply the concept mainly to scientific activities and R&D works forms the frame of concept use. In the event of concept adaptation to didactic activity some adjustment is required.

Paper presents outline of history of scientific activity of the Committee for Architecture and Town Planning of the Wroclaw Branch of Polish Academy of Sciences since the time of its forming in 1974 until the end of 2015. There are presented the compositions of Committee’s authorities in particular terms and there are described the main ranges of research works carried out in the spoken periods. There are also given themes of the most important scientific conferences, symposiums, seminars and workshops organized by the Committee together with list of lectures given by lecturers particularly in the last decade.

The role of philosophical reflections of Stanislaw Zaremba in the context of a dispute on the foundations of the theory of relativity The aim of this paper,is to present the philosophical background of Stanislaw Zaremba's critique of Einstein's theory of relativity. In the 1920s, Zaremba was the most prominent Polish opponent of this theory. His papers influenced some discussions related to Einstein's theory, especially in France and in Poland. This paper takes also into account the development of Zaremba's critique. The analysis of his papers shows that he never became a follower of the Einstein's theory of relativity. Such a statement compels us to confront it with the previous interpretations of Zaremba's thought.

In the paper, the scientific activities of Polish scientist Michał Jan Borch (1753–1811) are briefly discussed, The Polish translation of Borch’s article (published in “Atti dell’ Academia della Scienza di Siena” in 1781) on the luminescence of the sea and different ideas on what could cause the phenomenon is presented. The attempts of Borch to isolate the luminescence – generating substance from decaying swordfish are discussed in the light of some later data on the chemiluminescence of organic compounds, Connected to bioluminescence experiments of our other scientists of that time (G. Forster and K. Kortum) are also quoted.

1 października 2013 r. mija 40 lat od rozpoczęcia przez prof. Andrzeja Kuliczkowskiego pracy zawodowej. Profesor aktywnie działa w branży technologii bezwykopowych zarówno jako naukowiec (początkowo Politechnika Wrocławska, obecnie Politechnika Świętokrzyska), jak i inżynier-praktyk, będąc m.in. wiceprezesem firmy wykonawczej wdrażającej w Polsce w latach 90. XX w. nowe technologie bezwykopowe, prezesem firmy badawczej, a obecnie prezesem firmy konsultingowej. Jest autorem lub współautorem 315 publikacji (maj 2013 r.), w tym 12 wydawnictw zwartych (skryptów, monografii, podręczników), ponad 40 zrealizowanych projektów dotyczących technologii bezwykopowych oraz ponad 400 opinii i ekspertyz.

For economists of transport in Szczecin, year 2010 means sixty fifth anniversary of their scientific activity in this town. In parallel, for me, it is sixty fifth anniversary of my life in Gdańsk, where I arrived in September 1945. From beginning it is “my” town, my lovely place of my existence. Seeking its similar twin-town, I found it in Szczecin. I read a lot about it in books and newspapers, but for the first time I came there in 1957, when I met my future wife, who was studying then at the Faculty of Transport Economics in Szczecin. From her I have learned a lot about the staff of this school, but personally I met it for the first time in 1961, when I was invited to Szczecin for a methodological dispute on questions of transport economics. Those questions were connected with my doctoral dissertation, finished in 1963. Next five years I was preparing my postdoctoral thesis. It was strictly connected with historical geography, therefore my scientific meetings in this time in Szczecin, were with historians, not economists. Many talks with Bogdan Dopierała inspired me during writing my book Polska morska; from contacts with Alfred Wielopolski inspired another of my book Zarys najnowszych dziejów transportu. During the 70s, I returned to my contacts with the Szczecin transport economists. The most fruitful of them, creating lasting connections and friendships, came into being during frequent symposiums and conferences organized by them outside Szczecin, mainly in Kołobrzeg. From 1974 to 1994, I participated in almost all of them. In the 80s, a new field of contacts opened, in the economic faculty in Szczecin, where I was the reviewer of seven postdoctoral thesis of local transport economists. Year by year I was appointed as reviewer of consecutive volumes of the book series zeszyty naukowe edited by this faculty. The apogee of my scientific contacts with Szczecin followed in 1999, when University at Szczecin, at the request of WZiEU faculty, conferred me the dignity of doctor honoris causa. I am lifelong grateful to all my friends from Szczecin for this splendid honour, most of all personally to Hubert Bronk, the university chancellor, and Adam Szewczuk, the dean of WZiEU.
