The article presents a proposal of the classification of hydrogeological and environmental conditions in relation to different intensities of the impact of factors affecting groundwater threat in assessments of groundwater vulnerability to pollution. Due to the complexity and high degree of transformation of the natural environment, including aquatic, types of areas subjected to ordinary and strong anthropopressure, the so-called Area Geotypes (GO), are distinguished and discussed. The main factors characterizing the impact of mining activity on the water environment (typical and specific) are discussed, and the mine ’s characteristics are highlighted, emphasizing its role and importance as an influator constituting a large, multifactorial source threatening the groundwater environment. The role of the mine as an influator is presented against the background of the mine ’s "life cycle”(development phases) along with an indication of the desirability of carrying out assessments of groundwater vulnerability to pollution and groundwater threat assessments. The need to develop legal regulations regarding the preparation of vulnerability assessments is indicated.

W Rozporządzeniu Ministra Środowiska ws. dokumentacji hydrogeologicznej i dokumentacji geologiczno-inżynierskiej, nie wskazuje się na konieczność wykonania oceny zagrożenia wodnego jako elementu warunków hydrogeologicznych, co ma istotne znaczenie w przypadku określania warunków bezpieczeństwa górniczego. Z uwagi na ścisłą współzależność określania warunków hydrogeologicznych i oceny zagrożenia wodnego wskazano, w jaki sposób warunki hydrogeologiczne wpływają na stan zagrożenia wodnego, a w jakim stopniu zagrożenie wodne wpływa na kształtowanie i określanie warunków hydrogeologicznych. Wynika to m.in. z założeń pojęcia badań hydrogeologicznych, których wyniki, w celu udostępnienia i eksploatacji złóż, zawiera dokumentacja hydrogeologiczna, a która charakteryzuje cechy środowiska oraz wskazuje bezpieczny sposób udostępniania i eksploatacji złóż.

The Regulation of Ministry of Environment with regard to hydrogeological report, does not indicate a water hazard assessment as a element of hydrogeological conditions which is very important for assessment of the safety conditions in mines. Due to the close relationship of determining the hydrogeological conditions and the assessment of the water hazards, it was indicated how the water hazard affects the assessment of hydrogeological conditions. This is work on the principle that results of hydrogeological studies, made for deposits exposing and exploitation, must be include in the hydrogeological report which characterize the elements of the environment and indicate the safe method of deposit exposing and exploitation.
