Emergency stair travel devices are designed to evacuate people from buildings and used during initial unguided spontaneous evacuations as well as by professional emergency services. The requirements for evacuation chairs are varied: they are determined by the technical conditions of the building, by the specific way of operation of non-professional and professional operators, and on the other hand, they must take into account the specificity of evacuated people. The problem is to indicate the quality parameters of the evacuation chairs so that these chairs can be adapted to the organization and equipment system. The article aims to indicate and justify such quality parameters. The starting point was a quantitative analysis of scientific documents. It was found that there are only 33 scientific documents directly related to research on the evacuation of people with physical disabilities. Based on the literature, the tested evacuated devices were classified into three main types: hand-carried, tracked, and sled. Three groups of potential users of emergency stair travel devices have been identified: 1) “non-professional rescuer”, i.e., a person assisting in the first spontaneous phase of evacuation; (2) “professional rescuer”, meaning a firefighter or other professional who is physically fit and well versed in the operation of equipment and evacuation procedures; this type of user usually appears in the second phase of the evacuation; (3) evacuee. Each of these groups has specific needs and evaluates the quality of the device in different ways. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the following predictors of the quality of emergency stair travel devices have been identified: average evacuation time(s), evacuation speed (m/s), number of rescuers (pcs.), effort of rescuers (estimated oxygen consumption or pulse rate) and comfort of the person being rescued (estimated by pulse frequency or based on surveys). The expert analysis points out that essential requirements for evacuation devices vary for different people and do not overlap. For a person being evacuated, for example, the position of the body during evacuation is important, and from the point of view of rescuers, the ease of use, mobility and tolerance for errors in use are important in case of evacuation. Both groups of rescuers have similar requirements, but they have different priorities.

This article presents the results of the workshop work carried out in the classes of the subject "Universal Design" at the Faculty of Architecture of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture of Lublin University of Technology. The research concerned accessibility for people with disabilities of the Lublin University of Technology campus. The analyses developed by the students were used to introduce design solutions to improve the functionality of both the entire premise of the university campus and the architectural objects located on it. The urban planning assumption was analyzed, as well as the functional-utility of each object located on the campus.
The relation between accessibility and conservation is often contested, resulting in tensions between accessibility advocates and heritage experts. While the importance and necessity of accessibility and gradually the broader notion of inclusivity for diverse users (e.g. disabled people) is becoming more evident, existing discussions mainly focuses on the issues and problems of accessibility in the heritage context. In this article, instead of focusing on the constraints, we present disability experience as a generative resource rather than hindering liability. Disabled people, referred to as ‘the other’ and ‘strangers in their own land’, similar to people with different ethnicities, cultures and genders, have been subject to discrimination. In the heritage practice, the notion of self and other is mainly focused on colonial and occupied heritage. Additionally, it can be seen in the division between heritage experts and the others. Acknowledging the existing challenges at the crossroad of accessibility and conservation, following the example of research that rethinks disability’s meaning and its impact on architecture, our research on inclusive built heritage builds upon methods used in the context of inclusive design and adapts them for the heritage context in order to gain insights into disabled people’s experience of built heritage. By conducting multiple case studies in diverse heritage sites in collaboration with disabled people as user/experts, we observe the potential of the theoretical and methodological output of the research for the broader conservation practice, which is gradually moving towards collaborative approaches involving diverse others. The approach put forward by our research provides an opportunity to rethink our normative approach in heritage conservation, questioning assumptions and habits (in e.g. heritage evaluation) and challenging our preconceptions.

Podejście przedstawione w naszych badaniach stanowi okazję do ponownego przemyślenia naszego normatywnego podejścia do ochrony dziedzictwa, kwestionowania założeń i nawyków (np. w ocenie dziedzictwa) oraz pokonywania naszych uprzedzeń.
„Doing disability differently”, czyli, tłumacząc to luźno: nowe, innowacyjne połączenie niepełnej sprawności i architektury - takie hasło niosła książka Jos Boys wydana w 2014 roku [1].

Over the last decade, we have observed a policy of urban development based on universal design. As a rule, universal design consists of: accessibility, usability and inclusive design. Such an approach is sometimes ambiguous, often contradictory, dispelling myths about disability, and at the same time pointing to the diversity and complexity of people with disabilities. As architects, we tend to reduce disability to a medical term. “Doing disability differently” or, to loosely translate it: a new, innovative combination of disability and architecture - this was the motto of Jos Boys' book published in 2014 [1]. Jos Boys notes that building codes understand disability as something to be met by resorting to prescriptive, off-theshelf solutions. The approach to the problem is decisive for the ways to solve it. Eldridge Cleaver, an American Black Panther activist, famously said: “There is no neutrality in the world. Either you are part of the solution or you become part of the problem” [2]. The examples presented in the article are public, university and commercial buildings, awarded in architectural competitions for accessibility. Designed by conscious designers, guided by knowledge, the ability to assess, taking into account physical and perceptual capabilities, orientation, understanding and feeling space. What does it actually make these buildings accessible and open to everyone?
Museums are repositories of culture, knowledge, and values that everyone should be able to have access to. To this end, specific attention should be paid to the issue of disability when designing or operating such facilities. Despite an increased awareness, many designers still lack a full understanding of the complexity of people's needs and the topic of inclusion. Through an excursus of the evolving concept of diversity and how design can provide an enabling or disabling built environment, this paper aims at setting the cognitive framework to address the issue of broader fruition in museum spaces. Particularly, the focus of this contribution is on the European context, its historical cities and cultural heritage. Therefore, the needs of inclusion must be balanced with those of conservation, adding an extra layer of complexity. The museum will then be examined from an inclusive perspective, highlighting the issues to be addressed and providing some suggestions on the tools available to overcome them and grant everyone access to culture.

The main objective of conducting the literature review was to analyse work related to the management of programmers with disabilities, with a particular focus on dyslexia. A systematic literature review was conducted based on the PRISMA 2020 template. The databases providing the information were searched in June 2021 according to the due diligence principle. Out of 2324 papers, 90 literature sources were obtained after the first stage of the review and 2 articles after the second stage. The first article contains an outline of the profile of a dyslexic programmer and points to the lack of literature on dyslexic programmers. The second article relates to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is carried out by professionals from different industries including programmers – neuroatypical individuals. It was found that neuroatypical individuals often have specific communication needs and preferences, heightened sensory sensitivity, and challenges with executive functioning. The literature review performed indicates a research gap, despite the fact that dyslexia affects approximately 10% of the adult population. It is legitimate and valuable to conduct research on the different aspects of managing people in the IT industry – not just including programmers. The research gap found relates to under-researched areas, such as those related to managing employees including dyslexic programmers, which provides an opportunity for further research.
The analysis of labour market participation of the working-age population is a complex issue due to the multitude of factors determining this phenomenon, e.g. age, material status, availability of labour market offers to meet individual employee’s needs. People with disabilities are undoubtedly among those most at risk of social exclusion, which is clearly indicated and underlined by the issues addressed in this article. The current economic situation in Poland makes it possible for people with disabilities to undertake professional activity, especially in so-called sheltered employment conditions – in sheltered workshops, as well as in open employment conditions – in commercial enterprises. The results of research presented in this article are intended to present the economic situation of people with disabilities in Poland in comparison with other EU countries. Based on the results of own research, carried out in cooperation with a non-profit organisation – one of the most recognisable student associations in Polandand on statistics from individual EU countries collected by government institutions, a model was created to forecast the demand for jobs in both market environments. The need of people with disabilities both to integrate with non-disabled people and their reluctance to work in closed environments of people with disabilities and the resulting social conditions were recognized.

The publication discusses the concept of modern embedded systems that can be programmed and build in bigger systems in order to ensure the safety of people with disabilities. Article presents the definition of embedded system and, also, introduces the definition of the author. What is more, article briefly presents the most popular and developed in the fastest way exemplary systems: ARM, STM32, Raspberry PI, Sony Spresense and NvidiaJetson. Moreover, the main reasons were described why the embedded systems are used in more and more solutions and the factors that strengthen this trend have been noted: labor costs reduction through automation, reduction of costs of development of a new product through the possibility of making quick changes and reduction of product testing time, value creation potential and, also, the way to individualize the possibilities of electronics. Also, the examples of usage of those systems were presented. Finally, the practical side of programming and testing the embedded systems were described: ‘radar‘ (a torch) for blind people, help with balance disorders and the device to help with problems with orientation in space. In the conclusions, author shapes the estimated potential future of electronics supported with modern embedded systems, which as author believes makes this article the comprehensive study.
In 1946, at the request of the Polish government, UNRRA sent in two British experts in vocational rehabilitation to help establish the national framework of helping people with disabilities. During numerous meetings with government representatives, medical doctors, and social workers, as well as by trainings, lectures, and screenings of instructional films, they tried to familiarise Poles with the British model of rehabilitation. The model assumed close integration of medical and vocational rehabilitation and aimed at placing the disabled workers in the industry alongside those without disabilities. Initially, officials from the Polish Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare seemed to be keen to adopt such an approach, but in 1949, they turned toward the Soviet solutions. One of the main effects of this shift was moving away from employing the disabled in the industry. They were encouraged to join cooperatives instead, which, in the end, proved to be unfavorable to their social rehabilitation. The article reconstructs the activity of the British experts in Poland and analyses their observations from the encounters. By situating these events in a broader context of political and social conditions, I argue that replacing the progressive British model with Soviet solutions stemmed from the ongoing process of the Sovietization of Poland.

Human potential management is nowadays one of the most important areas of enterprise management. due to the decline in the importance of material resources for non-material resources (information, knowledge. intellectual capital) Human potential management is a very important factor influencing the competitive ness of the entire organization and its ability to implement the designated goals. The human potential of the enterprise is distinguished by the quantitative aspect (number of employees) and qualitative (competences knowledge - general, professional, specialist, predispositions - intellectual, interpersonal, emotional, skills - including communication, cooperation, adaptation to changes; interial motivation goals, values, attitudes, perseverance, assertiveness and physical dimension health, age, gender, degree of disability). Professional work is an important element of human life, from the economic point of view, meeting needs, but also self-realization and building self-esteem. For people with disabilities, work maybe an opportunity to compensate for the limitations resulting from their disability. The article presents preliminary results of research conducted among 515 employed people with various. The method used was an electronic questionnaire. The obtained data indicate that disabled employees ate aware of their potential and that it is not fully used by employers.

The article presents an analysis of the impact that a disability exerts on the evacuation risk in fires and other local hazardous circumstances. Evacuation hazards for persons with disabilities have been identified, and an expert assessment was carried related to the articulateness coefficient and the independence factor. Essential disparities were outlined in assessing evacuation hazards in the context of particular kinds of disability. During evacuation from buildings and other building objects in situations of fires and other local hazards persons with different kinds of disabilities cannot be handled as a single coherent group. This may influence simulation parameters of evacuation, evacuation conditions and evacuation plans.

Since the end of the 20th century' intensive research has been carried out in view of the quickly ageing society and certain irreversible phenomena related therewith. The rate of ageing varies from country to country, moreover, the perception of the process differs depending on the country, social group or sex. The ageing society and changes in the social structure generate new social needs and pose new challenges for the architects. Seniors not only live longer but they also work longer, travel more and learn more than previous generations of the elderly but also need a more extended package of medical care. This only confirms the fact that we are faced with the necessity to reorganize the system of long-term care facilities. This does not mean that we only need to increase the number of beds in the existing facilities or make relevant extensions in their buildings or employ more staff in the home care services sector. The aforementioned reorganization shall involve a new conception of supporting the elderly with the use of the latest technologies to ensure medical care is provided to them on regular and comprehensive basis.

The article focuses on assessing the psychological situation of parents and adult siblings of people with intellectual disabilities. The aim of the research presented in this article was to check whether social support plays an important role in achieving social well-being of parents raising children with intellectual disabilities and their adult siblings. Analysis of the research results made it possible to conclude which dimensions are particularly important for specific components of mental well-being among parents and adult siblings of people with intellectual disabilities. Research confirmed some theoretical assumptions about the role of support as a determinant of the level of psychological well-being of the respondents.
Work in a special school as a supportive teacher of disabled children requires experience and mental resilience. The supportive teacher is exposed to a whole range of difficult behaviors of the child (i.e. psychosocial risks), including aggression, which brings many other threats with a dangerous nature (accidental). In this paper the results of research conducted among supportive teachers from one of the Polish special schools have been presented. The research contains the identification of psychosocial risks and, as a consequence, indications of ailments observed by the supportive teachers. The results of the conducted survey concern the type of threats with particular emphasis on psychosocial risks, as well as preventive activities that minimize the effects of these threats. In addition, the respondents indicated the extent of professional work on private and family life. The research tool used in this study is a questionnaire divided into three parts: hazard identification, assessment of psychosocial risks and potential effects of their occurrence, and subjective assessment of the impact of professional work on private life.
Each year, many cars (in Poland approximately three hundred) are adopted for disabled driver, to enable them to drive the car independently. The purpose of the paper is to assess the key factors which significantly influence the disabled driver behavior during a frontal crash and have the biggest impact on the safety factors. Methods: To achieve the purpose of the paper, the finite element method was used. The authors built the numerical model which includes operation of all safety systems operating in the real car (sensors, seat belts, airbag). Using this method, the authors simulated few different cases of the frontal crash of the car driven by a person with disabilities. Results: The obtained results were: displacements, velocities and accelerations of the head, pelvis and shoulders. Additional results were also loads in the neck. Based on the achieved results, several biomechanical parameters and criterions (HIC, Nij) were computed. Conclusions: Therefore, during car adaptation for disabled drivers using a four-point seat belts system, this parameter can be optimized to reduce forces acting on the driver chest. Higher values of the force limit reduce Nij and increase HIC and contact forces between the dummy and seatbelts. Therefore, during designing of the pyrotechnic four-point seat belts system, the pretensioner characteristics should be analyzed taking all the driver’s biomechanical parameters into account.

The significance of principles of universal design and reasonable accommodation in design and construction of the built environment as contributors to rehabilitation outcomes for people with disabilities is determined by the following factors: - aging of population and growing share of people with disabilities; - evolution of principles and trends in social protection of people with disabilities from help and assistance toward active engagement in social and professional activity with full respect for and implementation of their rights; - economic impacts of reduced budgets for socially targeted programs and costs of retrofitting built environment to ensure inclusion for people with disabilities, and, hence, reduced tax burden on the economically active population. Thus, our research has shown that social exclusion of people with disabilities is determined for the most part (over 60%) by social and environmental factors, whereas biological and functional abilities contribution is limited to no more than 20%. Social and economic aspects, most importantly, the uptake of services provided, should be integrated into design and construction of the built environment. Furthermore, implementation of measures to create an inclusive environment based on the principles of universal design and reasonable accommodation calls for simultaneous expansion of a personalized approach for application of assistive technologies aimed at enhancing the physical independence of a person with disability through utilization of individual means of rehabilitation and social services.
