Wstęp i cel: W pracy przestawiono zasady i reguły zapisu liczb w rzymskim systemie numeracji. Niepozycyjny system numeracji rzymskiej był oparty na zasadzie addytywnej niekiedy łącznie z zasadą substraktywną lub multiplikatywną. Głównym celem pracy jest przypomnienie i uporządkowanie zasad zapisu liczb oraz reguł stosowanych w notacji rzymskiej. Materiał i metody: Materiał badawczy jest oparty wybranych pozycjach z dość obszernej literatury. W pracy stosuje się głownie metodę analizy teoretycznej. Wyniki: W przedstawionych rozważaniach opisano zasady zapisu liczb sposobem rzymskim w zakresie od 1 do 1000, od 1000 do 106 oraz od 106 do 108. Zaprezentowano 14 reguł rządzących rzymskim zapisem liczb. Przedstawiono 62 przykłady ilustrujące omawiane zasady i reguły. Wniosek: Znajomość zasad i reguł zapisu liczb w rzymskim systemie numeracji pozwala na pełniejszą weryfikację poprawności konstruowanego zapisu.

Introduction and aim: The paper presents some principles and rules of coding numbers in the Roman numeration system. Non-positional Roman numeration system was based on the principle of additive sometimes including the principle of subtractive or multiplicative. The main aim of the paper is to organize and remind of coding numbers and rules used in the Roman numeration system. Material and methods: The research material is based on selected items from a fairly extensive literature. The study used mainly the method of theoretical analysis. Results: In the presented considerations has been described some rules for writing method of Roman numbers in the range from 1 to 1000, from 1000 to 106 and from 106 to 108. It has been presented 14 rules describing the Roman number notation. Also has been shown 62 examples to illustrate these principles and rules. Conclusion: Knowledge of principles and rules for writing numbers in the Roman numeration system allows for a more complete verification of the correctness of the constructed record.
