Experience-based research in architecture aimed at perfecting design praxis typically begins with an informed identification of the problem and goal. It therefore becomes necessary to postulate a verification of assessment criteria by introducing a verification and revision mechanism into their formulation. Correct – relevant – solutions are those which meet assessment criteria, which means that the assessments of the modification problem solutions comply with the pattern produced by the solution. In unique cases, as they are cases with the most severe consequences, criteria need to be formulated on a case-specific basis. The author wishes to describe this property, namely to define the sense of relevance as an attribute of research.

Badania w architekturze nacelowane na doskonalenie praktyki projektowej te oparte na doświadczeniu, zwykle rozpoczynają się od świadomej identyfikacji problemu i celu. Z tego też względu niezbędne staje się sformułowanie postulatu weryfikacji kryteriów oceny przez wprowadzenie do procesu ich formułowania mechanizmu weryfikacyjno-korygującego. Za rozwiązania poprawne – relewantne uważa się te rozwiązania, które odpowiadają kryteriom oceny, co znaczy, że oceny rozwiązania problemu modyfikacyjnego są zgodne z wzorcem danym przez rozwiązanie. W przypadkach niepowtarzalnych, jako że one właśnie są przypadkami o najpoważniejszych konsekwencjach, kryteria muszą być formułowane indywidualnie. To, co autor chce zrobić, to opisać tę właściwość, tzn. zdefiniować sens relewancji, jako atrybutu badań.

Wyboru technologii realizacji domu mieszkalnego z zastosowaniem analizy wielokryterialnej dokonano, stosując do kodowania standaryzację oraz metodę Pattern. Przyjęto 3 warianty technologii realizacji budynku, a jako miary wariantów przyjęto 5 kryteriów. W przypadku poszczególnych wariantów założono 2 zestawy wag (priorytet czasu oraz ceny) oraz określono wskaźniki sumacyjne i skorygowane. Metoda pozwala na optymalny wybór rozwiązania technologicznego.

The issue of choosing the technology for the construction of a residential house using multiple-criteria decision analysis, which was carried out using standardization and the Pattern method for coding. 3 variants of the building construction technology were adopted, 5 criteria were adopted as the measures of the variants. For individual variants, 2 sets of weights were assumed (priority of time and price), summative corrected indicators were defined. The method allows for the optimal selection of a technological solution.

The article presents the scientific basis for assessing the stability of water supply models and develops a suitable set of criteria to assess the stability of water supply works, which includes the water supply part for water supply works and systems (including headworks and water distribution systems) in high mountains and water-scarce areas in Vietnam. Research results indicate that in order to improve the stability and availability of water of the models that have been, are and will be built, it is necessary to have a common method of evaluating effectiveness for scientific models of domestic water supply. Accordingly, it is necessary to build obtain a suitable set of criteria to assess the stability of the water supply model (source + water supply works) in the high mountains, water-scarce areas in Vietnam.

Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods have been implemented in many fields. In the meantime, several methods have been proposed to obtain the weight of the criteria determined by various methods in different ways. In this paper, a new approach, called simultaneous interpretive structural modelling and weighting (SISMW), is proposed to solve a multi-criterion decision-making (MCDM) problem. Using SISMW, the weight of the criteria and the relationship between them could be determined simultaneously. In this approach, like the ISM method, pair comparison between criteria was made by the decision-maker to determine the relationships among the different criteria. With the help of this data, the weight of the criteria, as well as the causal (cause and effect) relationships between them, were determined in 12 steps. The main advantage of this method is that only one stage of data collection is required for obtaining weights and modelling, and so the research process may be faster. This may increase the reliability of the collected data because, in a one-step survey, the impact of time is minimized. This process can be useful for conceptualizing and developing theories to help decisionmakers understand the problem better.

This study employed viable methods for the selection of a preeminent mooring line amongst other alternatives for the mooring of a floating wave energy converter (WEC) in shallow waters. Conventional mooring lines for WEC mooring are identified for an optimal selection exercise. A combination of the Entropy Weight and Visekriterijumska Optimizacijia I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) methods is utilized in the aforementioned exercise. The two methods are effectively used in an assessment of the attributes and performance of various mooring lines in practical application. The result obtained demonstrated that a steel wire rope is the best mooring line suitable for WEC system operations. It constitutes a good reference to marine and offshore engineering industries in decision making related to optimal mooring lines suitable for the mooring of a WEC system in shallow waters.

The feedback of international practice shown that the installation of photovoltaic (PV) parc on the dumps is one of the best environmental and economic solutions. However, the number of projects is still very limited comparing to the identified potential. This paper addresses site selection criteria for landfill PV installation, particularly in relation to mining hazards. For installing the PV, different environmental, technical and economic criteria should be respected. The slope of the dumps appears as the main constraint for the installation of photovoltaic panels. In addition, specific foundation systems should be considered to ensure long-terms safety and security. The paper presents several examples of installation of photovoltaic panels on coal-lignite dumps in France.

Praktyka międzynarodowa wykazała, że instalacja parku fotowoltaicznego (PV) na zwałowiskach jest jednym z najlepszych ekologicznych i ekonomicznych rozwiązań. Liczba projektów jest jednak nadal bardzo ograniczona w stosunku do zidentyfikowanego potencjału. W artykule omówiono kryteria wyboru lokalizacji dla instalacji fotowoltaicznej na zwałowisku, w szczególności w odniesieniu do zagrożeń górniczych. W przypadku instalacji fotowoltaicznej należy mieć na uwadze różne kryteria środowiskowe, techniczne i ekonomiczne. Nachylenie zboczy zwałowiska wydaje się być głównym ograniczeniem dla instalacji paneli fotowoltaicznych. Ponadto, aby zapewnić długoterminowe bezpieczeństwo i ochronę, należy rozważyć specjalne systemy fundamentów. W artykule przedstawiono kilka przykładów instalacji paneli fotowoltaicznych na zwałowiskach powstałych po eksploatacji węgla we Francji.

The article aims to evaluate criteria that should be considered when deciding on the adaptive reuse of existing buildings. Reusing a building by means of renovation is in line with the concept of sustainability, as it makes it possible to extend the useful life of a building without incurring significant financial expenses. The concept is related to the theory of the circular economy, which maintains that by designing a system of closed-loop processes – in which waste from one process is used as raw material for another – the consumption of raw materials, the amount of waste and energy losses can be minimised. The article discusses criteria that local governments, municipalities, architects, and designers should consider when deciding whether to reuse a building. The criteria were classified as technical, economic, social, spatial and environmental. To achieve the main objective, we looked into the preferences of current and potential practitioners who might be involved in the adaptive reuse of buildings with regard to the criteria. The most significant criteria were validated using a survey method.

Celem artykułu jest ocena kryteriów, które są brane pod uwagę przy podejmowaniu decyzji o adaptacyjnym, ponownym wykorzystaniu istniejących budynków. Ponowne wykorzystanie istniejących obiektów budowlanych poprzez ich modernizację i przystosowanie do nowych warunków użytkowania jest zgodne z koncepcją zrównoważonego rozwoju, ponieważ umożliwia przedłużenie okresu ich użytkowania bez ponoszenia znacznych nakładów finansowych. Koncepcja adaptacyjnego wykorzystania istniejących budynków związana jest z teorią gospodarki o obiegu zamkniętym, według której obiekty budowlane należy projektować i budować uwzględniając procesy, w którym odpady z jednego procesu są wykorzystywane jako surowiec do innego. Ogranicza się wówczas zużycie surowców, zmniejsza ilość odpadów i minimalizuje zużycie energii. W artykule omówiono kryteria, którymi powinny kierować się samorządy, architekci i projektanci przy podejmowaniu decyzji o ponownym wykorzystaniu budynku. Kryteria zostały sklasyfikowane jako kryteria techniczne, ekonomiczne, społeczne i środowiskowe. W artykule przedstawiono, zweryfikowane metodą ankietową, preferencje obecnych i przyszłych decydentów, którzy są zaangażowani w adaptacyjne ponowne wykorzystanie obiektów budowalnych.

For decades, the positioning of the sites of the extraction of materials was based, on the economic profit, (existence and abundance of the deposit, proximity of the basins of consumption) and the social aspect (number of jobs created), the environmental dimension was little or not taken into account. However, because of the negative impacts of this industry, more and more felt by the population, and in addition to the awareness of the protection of the environment, decision-makers have been forced to rethink their decision-making policies. Thus, it has become necessary to adopt sustainable management of this sector, taking into account environmental, social and economic issues. In this context, the presented work proposed the mathematical method of decision-making MACBETH (Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation Technique). This approach is based on economic, social, and environmental criteria, which have been chosen concerning sustainable development issues. The selection of options reflects the geographical distribution as well as the typology of materials at the level of the study area. Then, the attractiveness of the options on each weighted criterion was evaluated following the preferences presented by the decision-makers and finally their aggregation by the MACBETH tool. The implementation of this tool made it possible to evaluate the exploitation of existing quarries at the study area level and to predict the optimization of future locations.

The article describes optimization of the process of acceleration of the tower crane trolley movement mechanism during the steady mode of the slewing mechanism. A mathematical model of the boom system of the tower crane was used for the optimization of the trolley movement. The model was reduced to a sixth-order linear differential equation with constant coefficients, which represents the relationships between the drive torque and the coordinate of the load and its time derivatives. Non-dimensional complex criterion (objective function), which takes into account the drive torque and its rate of change in time during the transient process, was developed to optimize the mode of the trolley movement mechanism. Based on that, a variational problem was formulated and solved in an analytical form in which root-mean-square (RMS) values of the quantiles were applied. A complex optimal mode of acceleration of the trolley movement mechanism was obtained and compared with the modes optimized based on different criteria. Advantages and disadvantages of the solutions were discussed based on the analysis of the obtained optimal modes of motion. The analysis revealed low- and high-frequency elements oscillations of the trolley movement mechanism during the transient processes. The conditions for their elimination were formulated.

Analiza wielokryterialna jest często stosowaną metodą wyboru optymalnego rozwiązania przedsięwzięcia. W prezentowanej analizie zastosowano cztery kryteria: funkcjonalno-ruchowe, kosztowe, środowiskowe i społeczne oraz możliwości etapowania. Analiza wrażliwości jest prostą techniką analityczną pozwalającą na badanie wpływu zmiany kryteriów analizy wielokryterialnej na ostateczny wynik wyboru koncepcji. Analiza odpowiada na pytanie czy wybrany wariant przedsięwzięcia jest „stabilny”, tzn. odporny na zmianę wcześniej założonych kryteriów. Analiza przepustowości pozwala ustalić poziom swobody ruchu i wyznaczyć liczbę pasów ruchu.

Multi-criteria analysis is a common method of choosing the optimal solution for specific project. Four criteria were used here: functional-utility, cost, environmental and social, and staged capabilities. Sensitivity analysis is a simple analytical technique that allows to study the impact of changing the criteria of multi-criteria analysis on the final outcome of the concept selection. It answers the question whether the chosen option of the project is “stable”, that is resistant to the change of previously established criteria. Capacity analysis allows to determine the level of service and the number of lanes.

Taking as an example the very interesting and moti vating paper by Sousa Ribeiro et al. (2021) an attempt is made of providing a couple of insights into the decision making process from the point of view of the potentially helpful aspects of data analysis and OR-related modelling. These are just hints and suggestions, meant primarily to emphasise the multifaceted character of the decision making situations and processes, especially when concerning more complex issues. While the course of the procedure proposed and exemplified in Sousa Ribeiro et al. (2021) is treated as fully correctly and successfully carried out to the end, we wish to show the potential use of information, constituting in a sense a “by-product” of such a procedure, or, actually, of any similar procedure, aimed at supporting decision making.

The suitability of a land plot in a real estate market could be identified as a good investment because the land plot is deemed as popular. This activity is important for economic growth, who is one of the sustainable development goals. Mostly, all research in this field is focused on sustainability as well as the opinions of professionals. However, this field should be explored from another side which is based on real geodata. Criteria and its weight are very important in decision support systems. The correct criteria can help in selection of the best real estate object for an investment, but it is not only useful but also and a challenging task that has not yet been solved. The methods of research are data graphical analysis, correlation, decision supporting systems, etc. The research aims at determining the significance of the connections and using them as the criteria in the selected decision supporting method. In addition, it will be determined which decision supporting method defines the most suitable object for investment. These new criteria are proposed for operation in the land use models. Furthermore, it has been identified as one criterion, which is significant in the urban and agrarian territories. Also it turned out, that the land plot is the most active when it is as far from a densely built-up residential territory as possible and as close to a school, and when the land plot is as large as possible.

Achieving the status of "smart" territory will contribute to the development of medical tourism, as the natural resources of the sociopolis have created an excellent recreational area for the development of this area of the economy. For the sociopolis of Truskavets, medicine is one of the most important factors in assessing its sanity. Without the proper state of hospitals, sanatoriums and clinics, without the introduction of telemedicine, the development of the region will slow down.

The article presents the criteria taken into account in determining the alignment of regional roads, with particular reference to bypasses of towns located along regional roads. To determine the criteria for the evaluation of variants and their hierarchy, the surveys were conducted using the Delphi method in two rounds, with electronic surveys (the CAWI method). Based on survey studies, an entry list of criteria was set up as a proposal for determining the alignment of regional roads.

Hałas jako stresor może przyczyniać się do rozwoju różnego typu chorób, powodować rozproszenie uwagi, utrudniać pracę i zmniejszać wydajność pracowników. Elementy wyposażenia technicznego budynku, jak również urządzenia biurowe mogą emitować wyraźne dźwięki o charakterze tonalnym. Powszechne występowanie tych urządzeń w środowisku pracy przekłada się potencjalnie nawet na kilkaset tysięcy stanowisk pracy w Polsce. Liczne doniesienia literaturowe wskazują, że uciążliwość hałasu tonalnego oceniana subiektywnie jest większa niż hałasu szerokopasmowego. W ocenie środowiska pracy brak jest kryteriów dotyczących hałasu tonalnego zarówno w pomieszczeniach (normy budowlane), jak i w zakresie hałasu na stanowiskach pracy (ocena pod względem uciążliwości). W artykule dokonano przeglądu istniejących przepisów, przeanalizowano dane literaturowe oraz podano wyniki badań prowadzonych w CIOP-PIB w zakresie uciążliwości hałasu tonalnego.

Noise as a stressor may contribute to the development of various types of illnesses, cause distraction, hinder work and reduce employee's productivity. The elements of the technical equipment of the building as well as office equipment can emit perceptible tonal sounds. The widespread presence of these devices in the work environment potentially translates into several hundred thousand jobs in Poland that may relate to this issue. Numerous literature reports indicate that the annoyance of the tonal noise assessed subjectively is greater than that of the broadband noise In the assessment of the working environment, there are no criteria regarding the tonal noise either in the rooms (building standards) or in the field of noise at workplaces (assessment in terms of annoyance). The article reviews existing legislation. analyses literature data and provide; the results of surveys regarding the tonal noise annoyance carried out in CIOP PIB.

The article analyzes the range of production and commercial enterprises using the methods of ABC, XYZ – analysis. To identify more profitable positions and measures to increase profits, the commodity positions of the enterprise are ranked. The analysis of marketing directions using the method of paired comparisons in order to identify the most effective of them to promote products and ranking the order of application, as well as the distribution of resources between them. An assessment of the price risk of the goods, with which it was revealed the projected value of the income of the enterprise in the sale of goods. Risk assessment is made for further development of the marketing strategy of the enterprise.

The information technology models improving security functioning of crowdfunding platforms and advice on a new type of business were developed. The article solves the problem of safety of crowdfunding platform functioning based on developed models: rating assignment system of unified assessment crowdfunding platforms; startup projects assessment; startup projects risk assessment concerning their financing safety level and criminal law protection of investors against the financial fraud. The models are based on the correct usage of fuzzy logic and fuzzy set device to reveal the uncertainty of experts’ consideration that insures authenticity of scientific results.

System opiniowania służbowego, będący zbiorem przemyślanych i logicznie dobranych elementów, stanowi kluczowy podsystem systemu zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi. Systemy opiniowania wraz ze zmianami w samej organizacji i jej otoczeniu ulegają modyfikacjom, w tym podlegają procesom doskonalenia ukierunkowanym na ułatwienie realizacji procesu, zwiększenie jego efektywności i przydatności w odniesieniu do podejmowanych działań personalnych. Mając na uwadze funkcje systemu opiniowania, celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie zmian, jakie zaszły w systemie opiniowania służbowego funkcjonariuszy Policji na przestrzeni ostatnich szesnastu lat, w tym dokonanie krytycznej analizy zarówno aktualnego kształtu systemu, jak i wcześniejszych jego odsłon. Artykuł zawiera także propozycje dalszych zmian w systemie, których wdrożenie pozwoliłoby na uzupełnienie aktualnego systemu o aspekty do tej pory nieuregulowane, jak również doprowadziłoby do zwiększenia obiektywizmu wystawianych opinii służbowych i jednolitości w ich sporządzaniu.

Professional assessment system, which is a collection of well-thought and logically selected elements constitutes a key sub-system of human resources management system. Assessment systems together with changes in the organisation itself and its surroundings are subject to modifications, including they are subject to processes of improvement targeted on facilitation of implementation of the processes and increase of its effectiveness and suitability in relation to undertaken stuff-related activities. Bering in mind the functions of the assessment system, the purpose of this article is to indicate the changes which took place in professional assessment system of police officers over the past sixteen years, including improvement of critical analysis both of the actual shape of the system as well as its earlier versions. The article also contains suggestions of further changes in the system, the implementation of which would allow to supplement the recent system with aspects that remained so far unregulated as well as to lead to increase of objectivity of expressed professional opinions and uniformity in their preparation.

Rewitalizacja obszarów miejskich jest bardzo oczekiwanym i ważnym działaniem dla mieszkańców aglomeracji i przyszłych ich pokoleń, a także dla społeczno-gospodarczego rozwoju kraju. Dzisiaj rewitalizacja przestrzeni miejskiej powinna być wręcz działaniem strategicznym. Z jednej bowiem strony mamy coraz szybszy rozwój cywilizacyjny, coraz większe oczekiwania społeczeństwa, z drugiej natomiast – coraz większe zaległości w realizacji niezbędnych przedsięwzięć renowacyjnych obiektów budowlanych, infrastruktury technicznej i drogowej, czy uporządkowaniu zdezorganizowanej przestrzeni miasta.

The revitalization of urban areas is a very much expected and important activity for the inhabitants of agglomerations and their future generations, as well as for the socio-economic development of the country. Nowadays, revitalization of urban space should be regarded even as a strategic activity. On the one hand, we experience increasing development of civilization and growing expectations of society, whereas on the other hand there are more and more arrears in the implementation of necessary renovation projects for construction works, technical and road infrastructure, or arranging the disorganized space of the city.

The paper deals with the optimization of production processes and the setting of criteria for reducing production costs. Any company is not just a leap in production, but a lean has to be gradually transferred to all its activities. This created the concept of a lean company first. The skill of an enterprise is to perform only the activities that are needed, to do them right for the first time, to make them faster than others and to spend less resources at the same time. The company's business is that the company does exactly what the customer wants, with a minimum number of activities that do not add value to the product or service. The Lean Production System focuses mainly on eliminating waste in every activity of the manufacturing enterprise.
