Wyniki otrzymane w symulacji numerycznej porównano z rzeczywistym testem termicznym wykonanym w laboratorium Rockwell Automation zgodnie z normą IEC 61439-1.

Described is two-stage simulation approach which includes electromagnetic and CFD analysis coupled together. The output of electromagnetic simulation is heat loss generated as the results of Joule heating and induction of eddy current on sheet metal parts of the enclosure. Heat loss in an input for further CFD simulation. CFD simulation is used to calculate radiation and natural convection. Results of performed simulation were compared to the real thermal test rain in Rockwell Automation laboratory according to IEC 61439-1 standard.
Wyniki otrzymane w symulacji numerycznej porównano z rzeczywistym testem termicznym wykonanym w laboratorium firmy Rockwell Automation zgodnie z normą IEC 61439-1.

Maintaining high aircraft’s propulsion system reliability requires a good knowledge of engine’s heat transfer conditions at each engine running time. Even though the flow around the cylinder may be steady, the heat flux from the engine is not evenly distributed. This is caused by varied engine head and fins geometry and uneven heat transfer coefficient distribution. The lack of knowledge of the local heat transfer coefficient values and time coefficients for the transient heat transfer make it unfeasible to make an analytical model for a given geometry. One transient Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation does not solve the heat transfer fully. Only a conjugate simulation allows an in-depth analysis of a transient heat transfer. The Combustion and species transport fluid simulation is coupled to the temperature field solid simulation. This work presents the methods and results of such conjugate heat transfer simulation. The change of heat flux parameters in respect to time is shown. The results are verified by the real engine measurements.

In this paper, current developments on the coupled thermomechanical computational simulation of metal casting processes are presented A thermodynamically consistent constitutive material model is derived from a thermoviscoplastic free energy function. A continuous transition between the initial fluid-like and the final solid-like is modeled by considering a J2 thermoviscoplastic model. Thus, an thermoelastoviscoplastic model, suitable for the solid-like phase, degenerates into a pure thermoviscous model, suitable for the liquid-like phase, according to the evolution of the solid fraction function. A thermomechanical contact model, taking into account the insulated effects of the air-gap due to thermal shrinkage of the part during solidification and cooling, is introduced. A fractional step method, arising from an operator split of the governing differential equations, is considered to solve the coupled problem using a staggered scheme. Within a finite element setting, using low-order interpolation elements, a multiscale stabilization technique is introduced as a convenient framework to overcome the Babuska-Brezzi condition and avoid volumetric locking and pressure instabilities arising in incompressible or quasi-incompressible problems. Computational simulation of industrial castings show the good performance of the model.

Do programu wprowadzono termo-lepkoplastyczny model styku, uwzględniający izolacyjny wpływ szczeliny powietrza powstającej w wyniku skurczu objętościowego krzepnącego metalu. W rozwiązaniu sprzężonego problemu zastosowano metodę kroków cząstkowych, wynikającą z operatorowego rozdziału różniczkowego równania cząstkowego. W rozwiązaniu metodą elementów skończonych zastosowano wieloskalową metodę stabilizacji w elementach niskiego rzędu. Jest to efektywna metoda pozwalająca ominąć kryterium Babuski-Brezzi'ego i uniknąć lokingu objętościowego i niestabilności ciśnienia powstających w quasi-nieściśliwych problemach. Symulacje przemysłowych procesów odlewania wykazały dobrą dokładność opracowanego modelu.
