Selected guidelines on good practice in design and detailing of composite steel-concrete joints with a usage of profiled sheeting, treated not only as a formwork but also acted in composite manner with reinforced concrete slab, are described. Some aspects dealing with the effect of profiled sheeting type (trapezoidal or dovetail) as well as the direction of its ribs (parallel or perpendicular) to the beam axis on certain parameters influencing on the joint behaviour are presented. One of them is partial or full composite action which influences mostly the joint ductility, but the most important one is the reinforcement ratio which can significantly change the level of the moment capacity of the composite joint. The generalized analytical model of the M-Fi curve description dependent on the reinforcement ratio of the slab cast on a steel profiled sheeting is presented.

The main issue taken up in the paper is load capacity of cover structure of the coldformed aluminum sheets, co-working with the framework construction of the building. The basis of structures' safety assessment is presented. Partial safety factors, gamma m for cold-formed aluminum sheets, contained in the PN-EN 1999-1-4, include the simplifications adopted in the load models of individual components of construction. This paper also describes the model adopted in the engineering calculations for the thin-walled aluminum shell, susceptible for the effects of local buckling. Differences in the safety assessment and the analysis of load capacity of steel and aluminum thin-walled structures, designed according to European standards, are also pointed out.

It is possible to shape shells of flat profiled sheets thanks to their high geometrical orthotropy. A general method of geometrical shaping of shells is presented in brief. The method can be applied to build any shells of flat profiled sheets. A computer programme enables the determination of shell generatrices and other shell lines necessary for the design of shells. The structural analysis of flat roofs made of profiled sheeting is normalised. According the standards, an analysis of sheets consists in verifying individual folds as sheeting members. In shells, the shape and dimensions of individual folds are longitudinally variable, and folds are inclined longitudinally and transversely. Research has shown that twist of folds does not have significant impact on their stiffness.

Composite slabs consist of a thin-walled profiled steel sheeting, reinforcement and in-situ cast concrete. The profiled sheeting acts as permanent formwork and once the concrete has hardened as an outer reinforcement. Unlike a bar reinforcement, the sheeting does not benefit from being totally embedded in concrete. Partial connection between the sheeting and concrete takes place after adhesion is broken. Composite slab design is usually based on parameters of partial connection obtained from full scale bending test. The objective of this paper is to analyse composite slabs which fail in longitudinal shear. This paper presented analysis of composite slabs behaviour based on FE simulations and data from tests which have been made. In the paper a nonlinear 3-D analysis of composite slab with partial interaction between steel thin walled sheeting and concrete has been performed, compared to experimental results and simplified engineering methods. Material and interaction properties have been determined from full scale tests. Cracking and plasticity of concrete, plasticity in the sheeting, and friction between concrete and sheeting are included in the numerical model. Proposed computational model can be applied to the verification of composite slabs resistance made of re-entrant profiles. Presented in the paper PE model of composite slabs behaviour could provide a better understanding of the problem of horizontal shear resistance in composite slabs' design.
