The article presents a mathematical model of motion of a car equipped with the automatic hydromechanical transmission. All possible conditions of transmission operation during car acceleration have been analysed. The model has been applied in a computer program for city bus acceleration simulation. Also the methodology of defining optimal gear shift algorithms for the automatic hydro mechanical transmission has been presented. There have been used two optimization criteria: acceleration time minimization and fuel consumption minimization in the acceleration phase. The methodology has been illustrated by an example of optimal control algorithms synthesis of the automatic hydromechanical transmission in a city bus.

W artykule przedstawiono metodykę wyznaczania optymalnych algorytmów przełączania biegów stopniowych układów napędowych pojazdów. Analizie poddano fazę rozpędzania pojazdu jako najbardziej energochłonną fazę ruchu. Zastosowano dwa kryteria optymalizacji: minimalizację czasu rozpędzania i minimalizację zużycia paliwa w fazie rozpędzania. Metodykę zilustrowano przykładem syntezy optymalnych algorytmów sterowania automatycznej przekładni hydromechanicznej autobusu miejskiego.

The methodology of determining optimum algorithms of gear switching in graded power transmission systems of vehicles has been presented in the paper. The phase of vehicle acceleration, which is considered the most energy-consuming motion phase., is the subject of analysis. Two optimization criteria were applied: acceleration time minimization and fuel consumption minimization in the acceleration phase. The methodology has been illustrated with an example of the synthesis of optimum control algorithms of the city bus automatic hydromechanical gear.
