The Internet, as a global, universal communication network, has become an important channel of information distribution. Currently,it hasa very social character, thanks to the dissemination of Web 2.0 sites, which allow users to create and publish their own multimedia content. Web 2.0 technologies make it easier for users to communicate, create, collaborate and share information. They are widely available and are characterized by low costs of use. The article presents the results of research on the most popular Polish health websites. It was examined whether health services meetthe requirements of Web 2.0 sites. The analysis is focused on the technological and social aspects. The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in March and April 2020 in Poland was observed ashavingan influence on users and views of heath websites. The obtained results confirm the use of elements (both technological and social) by health services selected for research. However the usage of Web 2.0 technologies among websites varies.

The Social media represents, without a doubt, the most important avenue of communication on the modern Internet and the foremost tool of Web 2.0 technology. Its roots can be found in the ancient groupware technology, but its modern applications are beyond anything those users of old could have imagined. In recent years, it has morphed yet again, incorporating the prevalent new mobile technology as its delivery mechanism. The term “social media”, coined by Chris Shipley, includes the sum of the online tools and utilities that allow communication, participation and collaboration, including blogs and micro-blogs, social networking sites, wikis, podcasts and videocasts, social bookmarking and virtual worlds. At the end of 2015, over 2 billion users worldwide could access social media accounts and interact with one another on mobile phones, thus generating a wealth of data to be mined by marketers all over the world. However, this unprecedented access to consumer data (in conjunction with multiple user connections) has raised a number of privacy concerns, which have only grown in the last few years. This paper, detailing a study conducted for over a year on a wide variety of subjects, aims at interdisciplinary development of a clustering model based on both usage and perception variables, coupled with various psychographic predictor items, such as users’ attitude towards social media, users’ utilitarian and hedonic motivation, normative beliefs, perceived self-efficacy, various lifestyle variables, as well as overall trust and perception of privacy-associated risks. The proposed model is developed using discriminant analysis and it allows us to put forward four different user groups in terms of privacy concerns over social media. The management implications of our findings are also discussed and innovative ways proposed to deal with the ethical issues associated with the ever-growing lack of online privacy.

Jednak ten bezprecedensowy dostęp do danych konsumenckich (w połączeniu z wieloma połączeniami użytkowników) wywołał szereg obaw dotyczących prywatności, które znacznie wzrosły w ciągu ostatnich kilku lat.
Współczesne organizacje coraz częściej wykorzystują narzędzia Web 2.0, by budować wizerunek innowacyjnych, nowoczesnych, transparentnych i społecznie odpowiedzialnych firm. W pracy poruszono zagadnienie wykorzystania narzędzi Web 2.0 na polskim i brytyjskim rynku energii do komunikacji z klientem końcowym.

The beginning of the twenty-first century is the dissemination of Web 2.0, the introduction of the social ICT, in which the main role is played by its users and the ability to create and publish their own multimedia content. This situation affects the way of communication in the network, and thus also the relationship between the customer and the organization. As a result, customers have received a new channel of communication with both companies, as well as with each other. Modern organizations are increasingly using Web 2.0 tools to build the image of innovative, modern, transparent and socially responsible companies. This paper addresses the question of the use of Web 2.0 tools in the Polish and British energy market for communication with the end customer.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence, that the form of new technical media has on contemporary consumption patterns. According to M. McLuhan “the medium is the message” because it is the medium that shapes and controls the scale and form of human association and action”. Media shape our view of reality, that is mediated by them. Therefore when most interactions between producers and consumers become technically mediated as well, it influences their form and nature. The paper proposes a synthesis of theoretical approaches hailing from different knowledge domains like marketing, media studies, philosophy of media. McQail’s list of key characteristics of new media from “Mass Communication Theory” serves as a starting point for finding key characteristics of contemporary consumers.
Meeting the educational needs of students currently requires moving toward collaborative electronic and mobile learning systems that parallel the vision of Web 2.0. However, factors such as data freedom, brokerage, interconnectivity and the Internet of Things add to a vision for Web 3.0 that will require consideration in the development of future campus-based, distance and vocational study. So, education can, in future, be expected to require deeper technological connections between students and learning environments, based on significant use of sensors, mobile devices, cloud computing and rich-media visualization. Therefore, we discuss challenges associated with such a futuristic campus context, including how learning materials and environments may be enriched by it. As an additional novel element the potential for much of that enrichment to be realized through development by students, within the curriculum, is also considered. We will conclude that much of the technology required to embrace the vision of Web 3.0 in education already exists, but that further research in key areas is required for the concept to achieve its full potential.

In a modern globalised world, military and peace keeping forces often face situations which require very subtle and well planned operations taking into account cultural and social aspects of a given region and its population as well as dynamic psychological awareness related to recent events which can have impact on the attitude of the civilians. The goal of the EUSAS project is to develop a prototype of a system enabling mission planning support and training capabilities for soldiers and police forces dealing with asymmetric threat situations, such as crowd control in urban territory. In this paper, we discuss the data-farming infrastructure developed for this project, allowing generation of large amount of data from agent based simulations for further analysis allowing soldier training and evaluation of possible outcomes of different rules of engagement.

A new function of maps on geoinformation websites is presented in this paper. Following the theory of communication, a map is defined as the transfer of information between the creator and the recipient, but it may be also a graphical user interface. The map often becomes just the cartographic interface, for which the spatial location is the basic information. Development of website user interface functionality allows to introduce advanced methods of geodata integration, management and webservices use and maintenance, not only cartographic geovisualization in Internet.

31 stycznia 1998 roku Albert Gore, ówczesny wiceprezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych, wygłosił w California Science Center w Los Angeles przemówienie zatytułowane The Digital Earth: Understanding our planet in the 2pt Century. W przemówieniu tym naszkicował koncepcję wirtualnego globu (Digital Earth), definiując ją jako A multi-resolution, threedimensional representation oj the planet, into which we can embed vast quantities of georeferenced data (wielorozdzielcza, trójwymiarowa reprezentacja planety, w której można umieścić duże ilości danych geograficznych; Gore, 1998).

The Digital Earth Initiative, presented in 1998 by the Vice President of the United States of America, Albert Gore, has developed in 10 years in a manner that went beyond the original ambitious goals. The rapid advance of the Internet technology, the emergence of virtual globes in the first half of the decade, the unprecedented scale of contemporary environmental data acquisition with remote sensing, and finally the development of mobile technology has completely changed the context of the Digital Earth s concept. For several years it has also been clear that the technological advances shape in a similar w~ spatial data infrastructures being built in an increasing number of countries. Near future may thus demonstrate the convergence of virtual globes and spatial information infrastructures into one global geospatial system. The aim of this paper is to look to the future and the idea of Digital Earth technology in light of these developments, primarily in terms of the natural and social sciences. In our view, this involves reflections on the progress of virtual globes and infrastructures for spatial information that change the relationship between human beings - as cognizant subjects - and space, the object of their cognition. Reflection on these issues at this stage is therefore very relevant. We hope this paper contributes to the assessment of what the future brings, as well as assists future development in desired directions.
Zaledwie 5 lat temu tylko 3% użytkowników Internetu w Polsce miało łącze o prędkości powyżej 2 Mbit/s, penetracja Internetu wynosiła 28%, a 40% ankietowanych przez GUS deklarowało brak potrzeby dostępu do Internetu. Obecnie rynek oferuje usługi z prędkością powyżej 40 Mbit/s w różnych technikach, a penetracja Internetu przekroczyła 50%.

Only 5 years ago just 3% of Polish Internet users had access speeds exceeding 2 Mbps, Internet penetration was 28% of households and 40% of people surveyed by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) declared no need for Internet access. Today, service providers advertize offers with access speeds exceeding 40 Mbps using various technologies and Internet penetration crossed the 50% mark. Based on experiences and trends in countries that have undergone the Internet revolution earlier we attempt to assess if very high broadband will drivie in Poland a sea change in how the Internet is used and how we consume media content. We will also demistify differences between access technologies by com-paring present and future types of fixed and mobile access.
