The aim of the work presented in this paper was to determine the reactivity of chars and their selection for further research purposes concerning coal gasification processes with the utilization of process excess heat. Char reactivity can be defined as the ability of coal to react with such reactants as steam, oxygen or carbon dioxide. Reactivity determines reaction rates and therefore it is a decisive factor relating to the efficiency of combustion and gasification processes. In light of the above, reactivity may be regarded as an important parameter to be considered in the design and operation of the industrial systems of coal processing. The experimental work was conducted by means of a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) at temperature ranges of 700, 800 and 900 °C, with oxygen as a gasifying agent. The parameters of maximum reactivity Rmax as well as of 50% of the conversion reactivity R50 were calculated. The times tmax and t50 necessary for attaining the maximum reactivity Rmax and 50% conversion reactivity R50 were also determined. The correlation between the experimentally determined values of Rmax, R50, tmax and t50,additionally the physico-chemical parameters of the coals were examined by means of PCA analysis.

This paper presents the development and evaluation of a new approach toward the optimization of 3D local orientation map calculation in the Matlab framework. This new approach can be detailed as: optimize eigenvector calculation for PCA analysis of X-ray micro tomography images of lamellar Titanium alloys image. We use two different methods to find the eigenvector of the largest eigenvalue and compare them with the Matlab built-in function (eigs). The results show a steep decrease of the calculation time using the authors' method compared to the Matlab built-in function.

W artykule przedstawiono rozwój i ocenę nowego podejścia dotyczącego optymalizacji obliczeń 3D lokalnych orientacji map w środowiska Matlab.

Zooseston of the Vistula River section almost 340 km long was investigated in the years 1997/98. In 99 samples collected 90 species of rotifers, 16 cladocerans, 9 copepods and other animals belonging to: Harpacticoidea, Oligochaeta, Nematoda, Chironomidae, Odonata, Simulidae, Tardigrada and Coelenterata were found. Multiple regression analysis showed that the number of rotifers is significantly correlated with basic chemical indicators of water trophic state - phosphate, nitrate and nitrite as well as with the number of copepods which are usually predators. The numbers of copepods depends on the availability of possible prey,i.e. rotifers and cladocerans. Multiple regression confirmed known dependence of cladocerans fromtrophic conditions. Clustering of similarity matrices showed complex structure of sestonic assemblages on rhitral-potamal gradient additionallynmodified by hydrotechnical constructions. These constructions broke old river continuum. Ordination of sites gave complex pattern not only representing a simple gradient rithral-potamal but also all transient stagescaused by hydrotechnical construction (large dam reservoir) or by inflows of polluted waters from the tributaries. Ecological meaning of principal component ordination (PC) for river zooseston assemblages is not simple and might be susceptible of various interpretations.
