The article explores megatrends in management, related to the transition to digital technologies in all spheres of the economy and production in the COVID-19 pandemic. The main contribution to the analysis of the current state of digitalization HR in business. The possibilities of a set of processes and methods of interaction with information in the formation of a strategy of people’s management, are investigated. This is achieved through the use of integrated mobile applications and the automation of HR processes. From the results, the methodology for determining the severity of competences, indicators of behavior are proposed, the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s staff management system in the COVID-19 conditions are taken into account. The practical usability of work is due to the proposed competency-based approach, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of personnel selection, taking into account key macro-competencies that find an applied form through appropriate behavioral indicators.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to reflect on the essence of the changes observed in contemporary organisations. Design/methodology/approach: The study performs the review of literature for finding a better description of the challenges currently faced by human capital management. Findings: The article highlights the most important of these challenges, which is the leadership and the functioning of HR departments. Originality/value: It points out the paradoxes associated with the role of the remote supervisor and the role of the HR department as the paradox navigator.

Employers signal difficulties in sourcing technically-educated staff. They often engage, though to a limited degree, in cooperation with vocational schools to mitigate this difficulty. One of the reasons for the limited involvement of enterprises in cooperation with schools is the difficulty in assessing the benefits that it may bring. The aim of the study in the article was to develop and initially verify a model for evaluating the results of supporting secondary technical schools by manufacturing enterprises. The article features a multiple case study using several types of interviews, a distributed questionnaire and an analysis of secondary sources. The study was conducted in cooperation with four large manufacturing enterprises. The result of the research is a more thorough understanding of the possibilities and limitations in evaluating the results of support for schools. This support should translate in enterprises into more effective and efficient management of the competences of the future.

The interactive device is designed to be used in fine motor skills therapy and sensory integration for children with various disabilities.

The study aimed to examine the influence of providing information about reacting to the heard musical stimuli while treadmill walking on physiological signals of participants. The study group consisted of 30 adults: group 1 was not informed how to react, group 2 received an instruction to adjust the frequency of steps to the music. The gait was carried out on a Zebris FDM-S treadmill for various sound stimuli using the Empatica E4 band to acquire electrodermal activity and heart rate. Information about moving to the stimuli did not change how the subjects responded physiologically during the test.

Celem badania było sprawdzenie, czy informacje o sposobie reagowania na słyszane bodźce muzyczne podczas chodzenia na bieżni istotnie wpływają na sygnały fizjologiczne uczestników. W badaniu uczestniczyło 30 dorosłych: grupa 1 nie została poinformowana o tym, jak reagować na słyszane dźwięki, grupa 2 otrzymała polecenie dostosowania częstotliwości kroków do muzyki. Chód rejestrowano na bieżni Zebris FDM-S, a do akwizycji sygnałów fizjologicznych wykorzystano opaskę Empatica E4. Informacje o tym, jak reagować na bodźce nie zmieniały sygnałów fizjologicznych u badanych.

Acquisition and retention of talented employees is still a challenge for many organisations. Therefore, the processes improving management of best individuals are of particular importance during the difficult times on the labour market. The paper presents research findings concerning the internal conditioning of talent management (TM) in large enterprises. The following conditions are taken into consideration: defining TM, placement of TM in an organizational structure, interconnections with the corporate strategy, and the significance of TM for the organizations under examination.

W obecnej sytuacji na rynku, charakteryzującej się dynamicznymi zmianami, wysoką konkurencyjnością i wzrostem oczekiwań interesariuszy, tworzą się wielkie wyzwania, którym muszą sprostać zarządy współczesnych organizacji. Tym samym wymagana jest zmiana podejścia do sposobu prowadzenia działalności. Współczesne organizacje nastawiające się jedynie na wysoką jakość, sprostanie oczekiwaniom klientów oraz bycie liderem w danej branży nie zapewnią przetrwania przedsiębiorstwu. W dzisiejszych czasach ważne jest to, jak firma produkuje, w jaki sposób współpracuje ze swoimi interesariuszami oraz czy zwraca uwagę na potrzeby pracowników i społeczności, w obrębie której działa organizacja. Celem referatu jest ocena skuteczności działań Społecznej Odpowiedzialności Biznesu (CSR) ukierunkowanych na pracowników. Miarą skuteczności jest osiąganie założonych celów. Poniżej została przedstawiona analiza literatury przedmiotu oraz analiza materiałów wtórnych, czyli dobrych praktyk wybranych firm farmaceutycznych w odniesieniu do celów, jakie założyła dana organizacja.

W artykule zamieszczono wyniki badań ankietowych, dotyczące samooceny potencjału kompetencyjnego przeprowadzone w grupie 387 kierowników w innowacyjnych przedsiębiorstwach w 2015 roku1 . Badania dotyczyły samooceny w obszarze posiadanej wiedzy, poziomu umiejętności menedżerskich oraz stosowanych i preferowanych metod doskonalenia. Wyniki przenalizowano zarówno w kontekście wyników ogólnych dla całej grupy respondentów, jak i wieku oraz płci menedżerów. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników można sformułować wnioski dotyczące rozwoju potencjału menedżerów i zarządzania różnorodnością zasobów ludzkich.

The article describes the results of a survey on competency potential self-assessment conducted among 387 managers in innovative companies in 2015 year. It was conducted with usage of self-assessment questionnaire related to managerial knowledge, skills, preferred and uses methods of development. Results were analysed both in the context of the general competencies of managers, and as well in the context of age and gender. Based on the results one can draw conclusions regarding the development of managerial competency potential and as well regarding the human resources diversity management.

W artykule wyjaśniono pojęcie brandingu, czyli budowana marki, przy czym skupiono się szczególnie na budowaniu marki pracodawcy. Przedstawiono również najważniejsze cele i obszary employer brandingu, a także narzędzie służące do ich realizacji EVP (Employee Value Proposition) oraz scharakteryzowano branżę TSL z punktu widzenia rynku pracy i uzasadniono, dlaczego budowanie marki pracodawcy jest w tej branży szczególnie istotne. Na koniec zaprezentowano wybrane przykłady działań z zakresu employer brandingu firm z branży TSL.

The paper presents the concept of employer branding, i.e. building of employer's brand. It also presents the primary goals and areas of employer branding with a tool to enable their achievement, EVP (Employee Value Proposition). The article characterises the FTL sector (Freight forwarding Transport Logistics) from the labour market standpoint and substantiates why employer's brand building is of special importance in the sector. Finally, the paper presents selected examples of employer branding activities of FTL businesses.

Content available remote Optical and Near Infrared Study of the Open Cluster Czernik 17

In this paper we present the fundamental physical parameters of the poorly studied open cluster Czernik 17. The parameters have been derived from the UBVRI CCD photometric observations obtained with the 2-m Himalayan Chandra Telescope as well as using data taken from the Two-Micron All Sky Survey. This cluster is located in the direction of Camelopardalis constellation with a radial extent of 4' and is estimated to be at a distance of 7 ± 0.5 kpc. The interstellar extinction in the line of sight of the cluster is found to be E(B-V) = 0.72 ± 0.05 mag. Based on the evolutionary stage of the evolved stars the log(age) of the cluster is found to be 8.05 to 8.1 making it a relatively young cluster which can be considered as a spiral arm tracer of the outer arm. We have constructed the luminosity function for the stars within the adopted cluster radius which shows the common trend of the number of stars increasing toward the fainter magnitudes. We also find the presence of Böhm-Vitense gaps in the main-sequence branch of the color-magnitude diagrams of this cluster which may be attributed to surface convection which has the effect of making the stars redder although the luminosity remains unchanged.

The methodology in this article is focused on the development intelligent algorithms in the area of biomedical engineering, or more precisely, on the biomedical signal. The purpose of these activities is generally counteraction to occurring the problem of diagnosing cardiac diseases based on the ECG signal. This paper proposes various algorithms to detect the BPM, which can be used for diagnosis of cardiovascular abnormalities. These algorithms detects the R-peaks in signal ECG and on their basis computes the BPM. Proposed solutions allow to select three algorithms to determine R-peaks. As part of this method have been used function of threshold, the derivative signal, and the slider window.

Przedstawiona w pracy metodologia badawcza koncentruje się na rozwoju inteligentnych algorytmów w obszarze inżynierii biomedycznej, a ściślej w zakresie przetwarzania sygnałów biomedycznych. Celem realizowanych w pracy algorytmów jest ogólnie występujący problem diagnozowania chorób serca, w oparciu o zapis EKG. Niniejszy dokument prezentuje różnego rodzaju algorytmy wykrywające wartości HR, świadczące o częstotliwości pracy serca, które mogą stanowić oparcie dla lekarzy w diagnozowaniu zaburzeń sercowonaczyniowych. Analizowane algorytmy wykrywają załamki R z zapisu EKG, aby w dalszym etapie obliczyć HR. Proponowane przez autorów rozwiązania umożliwiają wybór jednej z trzech omówionych metod. W każdej z nich został zastosowany inny algorytm wyznaczania załamków R. Wprowadzono m.in. funkcję progu, wyznaczanie pochodnej sygnału oraz okno przesuwne.

The aim of this article is to analyse the long political and military process of forming the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). At the beginning it was the separate pillar of the European. For the European security issues was responsible the NATO and the Western European Union. After almost twenty years the Lisbon Treaty on European Union, which entered into force on 1 December 2009, changed the competence of the European Union in the security sphere. Treaty of Lisbon created the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and for the first time put so much attention to European Union’s international activity. Responsible for this is the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. For this function was appointed Catherine Ashton. She is assisted by the European External Action Service. HR is also one of the Vice-Presidents of the European Commission, chairs the Foreign Affairs Council, contributes through proposals towards the preparation of the CFSP and ensures implementation of the decisions adopted by the European Council and the Council, especially in the security matters. Lisbon compromise also led the termination of the Western European Union in 2011. Several prominent leadershave voiced support for a common defence for the Union. This possibility, requiring unanimous support among the member states, was formally laid down in Article 42 the Treaty of Lisbon extended the enhanced co-operation provision to become available for application in the area of defence. This mechanism enables a minimum number of member states to deepen integration within the EUs institutional framework, without the necessity of participation for reluctant member states.

Content available remote Hα Imaging of X-ray Sources in Selected Globular Clusters with the SOAR Telescope

We present results of a search for objects with Hα excess, such as cataclysmic variables (CVs) and chromospherically active binaries (ABs), as counterparts to X-ray sources detected with Chandra satellite observatory in six Galactic globular clusters (GCs): M4, M28, M30, M71, M80, NGC 6752. Binary systems play a critical role in the evolution of GCs, serving as an internal energy source countering the tendency of GC cores to collapse. Theoretical studies predict dozens of CVs in the cores of some GCs (eg., 130 for M28, 40 for M30). A number of such binaries is also expected outside the core radius. However, few CVs are known so far in GCs. Using subtraction technique applied to images taken with the 4.1-m SOAR telescope we have found 27 objects with Hα excess in the field of the observed clusters, of which nine are likely associated with the clusters. Four are candidate CVs, four are candidate ABs, one could be either a CV or an AB. One Hα object seems to be a background galaxy, while other 17 detected objects are probably foreground or background stars.

We have undertaken a long-term project, Planets in Stellar Clusters Extensive Search (PISCES), to search for transiting planets in open clusters. In this paper we present the results for NGC 188, an old, rather populous cluster. We have monitored the cluster for more than 87 hours, spread over 45 nights. We have not detected any good transiting planet candidates. We have discovered 18 new variable stars in the cluster, bringing the total number of identified variables to 28, and present for them high precision light curves, spanning 15 months.

We surveyed a 6.5'×6.5' field centered on the globular cluster M56 (NGC 6779) in a search for variable stars detecting seven variables, among which two objects are new identifications. One of the new variables is an RRLyrae star, the third star of that type in M56. Comparison of the new observations and old photometric data for an RV Tauri variable V6 indicates a likely period change in the star. Its slow and negative rate of -0.005±0.003 d/yr would disagree with post-AGB evolution, however this could be a result of blue-loop evolution and/or random fluctuations of the period.

We present VI photometry for the open cluster NGC 637 which is located in the Cassiopeia region. Morphology of cluster color-magnitude diagram indicates that it is a young object with age of a few million years. The apparent distance modulus of the cluster is 13.9<(m-M)V<14.3 mag, while reddening is 0.69

Content available remote Variable Yellow and Red Stragglers in the Old Open Cluster NGC 6791

Two sets of archive time series observations of an old open cluster NGC 6791 were reanalyzed using an image subtraction technique. We report identification of four new variable stars. Proper motion data are available for three of them and indicate that they are likely cluster members. Photometry of these stars is discussed along with the data for two earlier identified variables. The sample analyzed includes one yellow and three red stragglers. An eclipsing red straggler V9 is of particular interest. Cluster membership of this RS Cvn type binary would imply that its cooler component is in a stage of thermal inequilibrium. One of variables is a K type red giant showing low-amplitude variability with a period of about 0.33 d.
