We wstępie Autorzy artykułu prezentują historyczne brytyjskie miasto, które gościło uczestników 67. Światowego Kongresu Odlewnictwa, jego historie i uroki dnia dzisiejszego. W dalszej części sprawozdania zapoznają Czytelnika z przebiegiem samego Kongresu, uczestnikami tego spotkania odlewników, zaproszonymi gośćmi oraz tematyką jakiej był poświęcony tegoroczny Kongres. Artykuł zawiera także informacje nt. imprez towarzyszących Kongresowi, a mianowicie: sympozjum poświęconemu raportowi z projektu FOCAST oraz Forum Techniczne, którego hasło brzmiało: "Optymalizacja dodanej wartości w łańcuchu dostawców i poddostawców dla odlewni". Z artykułu dowiadujemy się również, że Kongresowi towarzyszyła wystawa pt.: "Odlewnictwo, Piece i Odlewy EXPO 06". Zwieńczeniem obszernego zprawozdania jest wykaz referatów jakie zostały wygłoszone na Kongresie w poszczególnych kategoriach.

Authors of the article present in its introduction the historical British town which had as guests the participants of the 67 World Foundry Congress, its history and today beauty. In next part of the report they make the reader acquainted with the course of the Congress self, with its participants, the invited quests and subject matter of this year's Congress. The article also comprises informations about the events accompanying the Congressl, e.e. thesymposium devoted to the report on the project FOCAST and Technical Forum, watchword of which was: "Optimization of the added value of the chain in the supplies for foundries". The article informs us also that the Congress was accomanied by the exposition under the theme "Foundry practice. Furnaces and castings EXPO 06". To the end of an wide report index of papers presented during the proceedings of the Congress is given.

Zamieszczono przemówienie powitalne wygłoszone w czasie otwarcia 64. Światowego Kongresu Odlewniczego (ŚKO) w Paryżu. Obok podzięko-wań skierowanych do organizatorów, podkreślono nowoczesność zawodu odlewnika we współczesnej dobie, a także dane liczbowe świadczące o nowoczesności odlewnictwa francuskiego. Wskazano, że słowo "GLOBAL" stanowi kluczowe stowo nie tylko w relacjach przemysłowych, ale i w codziennym zachowaniu. Ogłaszając 64. ŚKO za otwarty, organizatorzy złożyli najlepsze życzenia przyjemne-go pobytu w Paryżu i we Francji wszystkim uczestnikom Kongresu.

The speech of welcome delivered at the beginning of the 64th World Foundry Congress in Paris is published. Apart from the acknowledgements addressed to the organizers, the modernity of the foundryman's job under the present conditions was stressed and some numerical data were presented which give evidence of the modern trends in the French foundry industry. It was also pointed out the word ,,GLOBAL" is not only a keyword in the industrial relations, but also in the everyday behaviour. Announcing the 64th World Foundry Congress as opened, the organizers wished all the participants of the Congress a nice stay in Paris and in France.

W czasie tegorocznego Światowego Kongresu Odlewnictwa, który odbył się w dniach 10-13 września br. w Paryżu, przedstawiono wiele interesujących referatów (72 referaty). Referaty te prezentowały tendencje dotyczące kierunku rozwoju stopów oraz technologii odlewniczych. Obserwuje się ciągły rozwój i doskonalenie żeliwa sferoidalnego w tym żeliwa ADI, szybkiego prototypowania, odlewania tiksotropowego oraz procesu pełnej formy. Zaznacza się również rosnący udział wspomaganai komputerowego w sterowaniu procesami technologicznymi. Referaty ze zostały wydane w formie jednej książki.

During the World Foundry Congress which took place in Paris on 10-13.09.2000 a lot of interesting papers (72) were presented. These papers dealt with the trends concerning the development of alloys and foundry technologies. Continuous development and improvement of spheroidal graphite iron (including ADI), rapid prototyping methods, thixotropic casting and full mould process can be observed. Increasing share of computeraided controlling of technological processes can also be marked. The papers were published in form of a book.
