This article is a contribution to the research that addresses the levels of apartment rental costs in Poland and Ukraine. The city of Rzeszów in Poland and Lviv in Ukraine – voivodeship capital cities that are located about 100 km from the Polish-Ukrainian border – were selected for the analysis. The purpose of the research is to compare the rental costs of apartments and to determine the correlation between the average rental rate and location of an apartment in the city as well as its floor, area, and residential standard. The experimental part of the article presents research results based on analyzing more than 300 apartment rental offers in the Rzeszów and Lviv housing market at the turn of 2022–2023. The possibility of renting an apartment results from the financial capacity of potential tenants, which is unavailable to people with low incomes; hence, the study also analyzed market rental rates in the context of the minimum wage in Poland and Ukraine in 2022.

This thesis pertains to the influence of underground technical infrastructure during the construction phase on the selected components of the natural environment. The subject of research is the DN1000 MOP 8.4 MPa high pressure gas transmission system, realized in Poland from ZZU Wierzchowice till Kiełczów node. Studies identified the impacts on particular components of the environment, including land surface, plants, animals, biodiversity, air, water resources and quality, landscape and acoustic climate. An assessment was made on the impact, scale, frequency, duration or the influence type in the two stages of the investment process. It was found that the stage of DN1000 gas pipelines caused a significant change in the prevailing balance of the natural environment in the assembly area mainly due to soil transformation and vegetation removal as assessed as long-term. The impact on other components analysed in terms of frequency is usually medium-term or short-term, and in terms of duration – momentary. During the operation of the gas pipeline, the negative impact of the network was strongly determined in relation to the forested areas and forests, where the negative impact was recorded not only during the implementation of the network but also in the phase of its use.

This article raises the issue of changes in the structure of agricultural land use in Poland and the Czech Republic since the accession of both countries into the structures of the European Union. An important question raised in this article is the analysis of changes in the area structure of agricultural holdings according to the adopted agricultural land groups. The analyses were based on the graphic method of analysing the concentration strength, i.e. the Lorenz curve, to determine the distribution of the number and surface area of agricultural farms in the given area groups and the percentage share of such farms in these area groups. Additionally, the Gini coefficient was calculated for the same phenomena, to measure the concentration (inequality) of the random variable distribution. The research showed the structural change trends in the agricultural area of the analysed countries as well as varied structural situation of agricultural holdings during the accession period. The condition translates into a slower pace of structural change of agricultural holdings in Poland and a faster process of enlarging the area of agricultural holdings in the Czech Republic.
