The article analyses strategies of sustainable development in the graphic arts industry. There are many deinitions of sustainable development, including this landmark one which first appeared in 1987: development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development calls for a convergence between the three pillars of economic development, social equity and environmental protection. The best illustration is an equilateral triangle, divided for three triangles. Every triangle symbolizes one of pillars. If triangles are identical it means ideal proportions between the three pillars: economy, ethics and ecology. Graphic arts is a specific branch of industry. Printing industry requires special attention in view of the sustainable development because it covers three steps of production: prepress, press and postpress (very often performed in one printing house).The article analyses strategies of sustainable development in the graphic arts industry. The chapter deals with the issue of the risk and security management process in public administration, according to the internal audit standards and their requirements. Main legal acts and standards were specified and shortly described. Specially the risk analysis process and security measures selection were emphasized. The possibility to use the software tools for the risk analysis and security measures selection support in public administration was presented. The experiment of OSCAD usage in public administration was shortly described and its results were presented. This experiment shows that the software primarily intended for IT Security Management can be used for risk management in different area as well, for example – in public administration. Some possibilities of further development of risk management supporting tools were proposed

Rozdział dotyczy problemów procesu zarządzania ryzykiem i zarządzania bezpieczeństwem w administracji publicznej i jednostkach sektora finansów publicznych, w odniesieniu do standardów kontroli zarządczej i ich wymagań. W artykule wymieniono i krótko opisano główne akty prawne i standardy związane z tymi tematami. Szczególnie wyróżniono proces analizy ryzyka i doboru zabezpieczeń. Przedstawiono możliwość wykorzystania narzędzi komputerowych do wsparcia procesu zarządzania ryzykiem i doboru zabezpieczeń w jednostkach administracji publicznej. Krótko opisano próbę wykorzystania do tego celu oprogramowania OSCAD. Eksperyment ten wykazał możliwość wykorzystania w obszarze administracji publicznej narzędzia, dedykowanego pierwotnie do wsparcia procesu zarządzania bezpieczeństwem informacji i ciągłością działania. Na koniec przedstawiono możliwości dalszego rozwoju narzędzi wspierających proces zarządzania ryzykiem.

Big changes observed on the market nowadays are forcing companies to choose to innovative solutions aimed at reducing the time of delivery, efficiency and quality. This is essential for the survival of these companies. For this reason, there is a need for continuous assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the company as well as improve its capability to innovate at the operational level. In this paper we discussed an example of the use of a method called Complex Solutions Operations (Total Operations Solutions), [2] the ability to self‐assessment in selected Libyan companies using the experience of Polish enterprises.

Wielkie zmiany obserwowane na rynku zmuszają przedsiębiorstwa do wyboru innowacyjnych rozwiązań ukierunkowanych na redukcję czasu dostawy, efektywność oraz na jakość. Jest to warunkiem przetrwania tych przedsiębiorstw. Z tego powodu pojawia się potrzeba ciągłej oceny mocnych i słabych stron przedsiębiorstwa jak również poprawy jego zdolności w zakresie tworzenia innowacji na poziomie operacyjnym. W tej pracy omawiany jest przykład wykorzystania metody zwanej Kompleksowe Rozwiązania Operacyjne (Total Operations Solutions), do samooceny tych zdolności w wybranych przedsiębiorstwach libijskich z wykorzystaniem doświadczeń przedsiębiorstw polskich.

In this article, authors analyze methods of the analysis of data integrity, security and availability loss results for business processes. Assessing those results, one can judge the importance of a process in organization; thus, determine which business process requires more attention. The importance of those processes can be determined with Business Impact Analysis (BIA). In article, first phase of BIA is presented - in specific, a construction of Business Impact Category Tables, Loss Levels and process weight calculation methods. A variety of weight calculating methods is presented. Authors also present their proposed method - square sum percentage - as a solution eliminating problems of other weight calculation methods in business impact analysis.

Realizowany przez Instytut Technik Innowacyjnych EMAG system OSCAD (Otwarty Szkieletowy System Zarządzania Ciągłością Działania) ma realizować komputerowe wspomaganie zarządzania ciągłością działania organizacji (w tym również zarządzanie ciągłością działania infrastruktury IT) oraz zarządzanie bezpieczenśtwem informacji przetwarzanych w instytucji, jej systemach informatycznych. Komputerowe wspomaganie będzie obejmowało m.in. takie elementy, jak zarządzanie ryzykiem oraz zarządzanie incydentami. Opisywana w artykule metoda analizy ryzyka została zaimplementowana w module służącym do analizy i oceny poziomu ryzyka dla danych przetwarzanych w organizacji oraz realizowanych procesów. Wynikiem działania tego modułu jest następnie raport z listą zabezpieczeń wdrożonych oraz wymaganych do wdrożenia w organizacji Autorzy analizują sposób modelowania skutków biznesowych dla utraty poufności, integralności i dostępności danych i procesów biznesowych. Zaprezentowano pierwszą fazę BIA (analizy skutków biznesowych), a zwłaszcza konstrukcję tabeli kategorii skutków biznesowych. Przedstawiono różne metody kalkulacji wagi (znaczenia) procesu dla organizacji. Autorzy proponują własną metodę - procenta sumy kwadratowej - jako rozwiązania eliminującego problemy innych metod kalkulacji wagi procesu w analizie skutków biznesowych.

On the beginning must be said that the "typical customer" doesn't exist. This is statistical meaning only, which in confrontation with the pragmatic reality does not function. Therefore the question who is my customer (really and potentially) is completely basic in consideration of future commercial achievements of everybody. The determination of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is not so clear in historical development. The present explanation and application of its essence and stimulating principles is very useful for organizations interested with proper progress on so competitive national and international markets. The compact and step by step description is very helpful for each reader.

The meaning of entrepreneurship from scientific point of view is not so clear. Maybe is necessary to include such meanings like e.g.: self-employment, business ownership, entrepreneurial attitudes and business register. How to explain them, a nd then to measure them? Based on the GEM-Global Entrepreneurship Monitor is demonstrated that among 16 selected OECD-countries, the most entrepreneurial are the USA and Australia and the lowest positions take Ireland and Japan. The correlation to economic power of such countries is difficult to interpret. Some experiences of this kind in international dimension are discussed and presented, with interesting reflection to proper national conditions.

The rapid growth of private schools in Poland that took place at the end of the 90s and the huge increase in the number of students entering public universities has created an urgent need to set up appropriate mechanisms to ensure and evaluate the quality of university education. This paper shows selected European international systems for evaluating education quality, e.g. EQUIS, SECAI, CRE. The final part of the paper gives a comparative analysis of the mentioned systems of evaluation education quality and the ISO 9001:2000 standard.

Zarządzanie procesami, za sprawą nowej wersji norm ISO 9000 z 2000 roku, stało się określeniem kluczowym w polskim świecie jakościowym. Należy sobie jednak zdać sprawę, iż podejście procesowe, które ta norma promuje, jest w teorii i praktyce zarządzania znane od lat, a integrowanie zarządzania jakością z zarządzaniem procesami miało miejsce w wielu firmach już przy implementacji norm ISO 9000 z roku 1994. Tego rodzaju podejście prezentowane było w działalności Zakładu Systemów Zapewniania Jakości Politechniki Warszawskiej już od 1994 roku zarówno w dydaktyce, jak i pracach wdrożeniowych. Niniejsze opracowanie zawiera opis metodyki projektowania systemu zarządzania jakością wg podejścia procesowego zgodnego z normą ISO 9001:2000 z uwzględnieniem doświadczeń ZSZJ PW. W drugiej części tego artykułu (patrz załącznik) podano przykład wykorzystania prezentowanej metody w praktyce.

Process management, using the new ISO series 9000 of the year 2000, has became a key issue in the Polish quality world. It should, however, be remembered that the process management promoted by this series, has been known for a number of years both in theory + in practice. The integration of quality management with process management had already taken place in many companies using the ISO 9000 of the year 1994. The process approach has been introduced in teaching processes and implementation projects realised by Quality Assurance Systems Department of the Warsaw University of Technology since 1994. This paper presents an original method of quality management systems design according to ISO 9001:2000 worked out by the Department of WUT. An example of the usage of the method is presented in the second part of the paper.

Execution of the IDEA and the Blowfish algorithms has been started in order to broaden the research into the hardware solution of cipher conducted in the Institute of Computer Science. The outcomes of implementation of both block cryptographic algorithms in the environment of Active-HDL (of Aldec) are discussed in this article.
