Globalne przewodnictwo na arenie międzynarodowej staje się jednym z najważniejszych celów najsilniejszych państw świata. Stany Zjednoczone jako hegemon XX i XXI wieku staje przed poważnym wyzwaniem, ponieważ pretendentów do objęcia hegemona jest coraz więcej. Na wyraźne prowadzenie w tych działaniach wychodzą Chiny. W celu zbadania potęgi Stanów Zjednoczonych w dwóch pierwszych dekadach XXI wieku, należy przedstawić rodzaj ustroju politycznego jaki panuje w tym mocarstwie, poziom rozwoju ekonomicznego, demograficznego, technologicznego i informatycznego oraz militarnego tego kraju. Dzięki powyższemu możemy wywnioskować czy Stany Zjednoczone posiadają stabilną pozycję hegemoniczną, czy jednak występują w tym mocarstwie elementy, które mogą zaważyć na przyszłości tego kraju. Istotnym elementem w prowadzeniu badań jest określenie głównych kierunków działań obecnego hegemona oraz wyszczególnienie obecnych sojuszy i tych które staja się żywotnym interesem Stanów Zjednoczonych.

Global leadership on the world stage is becoming one of the most important goals of the world's strongest states. The United States, as the hegemon of the 20th and 21st centuries, is facing a serious challenge as there are more and more contenders to take over the hegemony. China is taking a clearl lead in this effort. In order to examine the power of the United States in the first two decades of the 21st century, it is necessary to present the type of political system that prevails in this superpower as well as the level of economic, demographic, technological, information technology and military development of that country. From the above, we can conclude whether the United States has a stable hegemonic position or if there are elements in this superpower that could affect the future of this country. When conducting research it is an important to identify the main directions of activities of the current hegemon and detail the current alliances and those that are becoming a vital interest of the United States.

The aim of the didactic and educational activity of every university, especially the military one, is to prepare the graduate intellectually and professionally to live in society. When creating educational programs in a specific field of knowledge or subject of education, it is assumed that their implementation will ensure that the teachers acquire the necessary minimum of required competences. In such a case, the authors of didactic programs always have a number of doubts or dilemmas such as: To what extent do the assumed competences correlate with the requirements and needs of the social reality, especially the professional one, in which the graduate is prepared to act? To what extent do the content of the curricula and the organization of the didactic and educational process ensure the acquisition of the assumed team of competences by the teachers? Of course, there are many more dilemmas of this type. Not all of them can be unequivocally resolved, if only due to the complexity of social situations in which the accuracy and reliability of the competences acquired by students are verified. Curricular education of students of military universities in the fields of study: national security, is aimed at, among others, the best possible preparation of future officers to command a sub-unit as well as managers and managers to manage human teams in state and local government institutions dealing with the organization and protection of public safety. An important element of the process of commanding a military sub-unit as well as managing in a situation of a potential threat is the ability to make accurate decisions as well as efficiently act and motivate subordinates and co-workers. In situations of uncertainty and insufficient information, and at the same time not only a potential but also a real threat to health and life, this requires not only appropriate psychophysical predispositions but also specific professional competences, especially in the area of distinguishing competences. Bearing the above in mind, the content and purpose of the article will be to introduce theoretically into the issues of social competences, seen from the perspective of a manager - leader - manager, and also an attempt to show the conditions of the manager's functioning - in various social situations, his role, tasks and qualifications, ensuring efficient management of the organization, these include: priorities in the implementation of tasks, skills, creative attitude and preparation for conducting negotiations. Requirements for modern managers - organization leaders - are extremely high, and meeting them does not guarantee only success. They lead people who, above all, need to be taught and prepared: to work in their position, to live in society, as well as to bring each other closer and focus around each other. Employees are different, they are strong and weak, full of pride and quite humble, curious about the world and, despite their different ages, overwhelmed by apathy. All of them, thanks to the work of managers and their competences, knowledge and skills, become good employees at various levels of the organization, and then managers. However, the basis of a manager's work is also, and perhaps above all, communication skills, the basis of which are negotiations.

The article presents the Islamic State as a source of terrorist threats. In the eyes of ISIS fighters, the Western world is tantamount to moral corruption, and the lack of any values. By its actions, ISIS aims at pushing the followers of other religions out of the areas defined in the prophecies in the name of cleansing the world from evil. The author analyzes the activity of Islamic extremists in the context of the great wave of migration to Europe from the Middle East region. This phenomenon influenced changes in the international security environment, especially in the European Union countries. The author shows how ISIS, using ideology, pushes Islamic fundamentalists to prepare terrorist attacks. Combating such threats poses major challenges for anti-terrorist services.

The term ‘hybrid warfare’ proved to be very popular among academics, military thinkers and professionals leading to a variety of defi nitions and approaches. It was linked with the new generation concept popularised by Russian military thought. The essence of the hybridity is not new, as using a combination of military and non-military instruments is as old as mankind and is recognised but interpreted diff erently. The paper examines both the concept and its implementation based on case studies and theoretical considerations. It debates possible ways of using it to confront targeted nations by a combination of a variety of tools and approaches.
