The product design has a significant influence on assembly processes and production costs. This paper presents an algorithm for analyzing and improving the product design. The algorithm uses the BRRR assembly model and the assembly sequence matrix for the assembly process representation. There is an opportunity for computer-aided generating these models on the basis of the product's 3D model, created in the CAD system. The new computer-aided DFA tool named "DFA Expert" has been developed. The implementation of "DFA Expert" is based on the proposed algorithm. An example of Air Distributor redesign has been included to illustrate the application of "DFA Expert".

This paper presents the possibility of decreasing the product cost by reducing part count. It is shown, that there is the possibility to formalize the kinematic analysis of mechanism. The new algorithm of detecting the kinematic and force chains in assembly product is proposed. The application of algorithm has been demonstrated on an example.

W pracy przedstawiono propozycję procedury przeprowadzania analizy DFA jednostki montażowej w celu wyjawienia możliwości integrowania części, ułatwienia procesu montażowego poprzez zmiany stosowanych połączeń oraz poprzez poprawienie technologicznosci konstrukcji poszczególnych elementów jednostki montażowej. Przytoczono propozycje umożliwiające realizacje tych prac automatycznie w systemie komputerowym.

The procedure, which is presented in the work, indicates the possibilities of the parts integration and making easier assembling process by changes in using connections and developing construction producibility on the example of simple lock.
