Le Corbusier clearly defined the components of good architecture. His list of those is concluded with words so often cited: ...suddenly you touch my hart, you do me good, I am happy and I say: "This is beautiful". That is architecture. (...) It seems that Le Corbusier's way of thinking finds its continuation in the projects proposed by subsequent, also contemporary, architects.

Nowadays , in the world of mass production and duplication one of the current obsession is: to be noticed. The extreme action can be used for - somehow difficult today - emphasizing one's individuality. A house is the kind of building susceptible to experiments. The scale and possibility of bringing the entire project under one person's control make it easy to try to escape from standard. In 2000 Werner Sobek built such an experimental object in Stuttgart.

Steven Holl, whose methods of searching for the form are here presented by the three examples, brings together the two contradictions: pragmatism and poetry. The latter is useful, when the reality seems not to be perfect, or when there are too many possibilities when it comes to choosing the way. Holl creates his own universe and reduces the number of answers with applying the range of conceptual diagrams - the motives that become the source for the form. Holl's approach to creating architecture needs art as the cure for the inexplicable.

Budynek teatru Nowy Luxor w Rotterdamie został zaprojektowany przez Julię Bolles i Petera Wilsona. Architekci stworzyli dynamiczną formę, która jest w istocie efektem analiz prawdopodobych dróg i kierunków, jaki będą obierać użytkownicy miejsca. Sposób opakowania stworzonych przestrzeni, wydaje się być tu oczywisty, nie ujmuje jednak efektowności formie.
