The aim of this research was to verify to what extent the shape of an indenter tip influences the final form of the constitutive equation for the trabecular bone. Methods: Trabecular bone was formulated as a non-linear viscoelastic material with Mooney–Rivlin hyperelastic model to describe the purely elastic response of the bone tissue. Tests of the mechanical properties of the trabecular bone, resected from the femoral head of a 56-year-old patient, were carried out with two types of indenter: the spherical tip of a diameter of 200 μm and pyramid Vickers tip with 136° between plane faces. Tests with both indenters included loading and unloading phases with no hold at peak force and with hold time t = 20 s and were conducted with a maximum load Pmax = 500 mN and loading/unloading rate V = 500 mN/min. Results: The formulated constitutive model describes the trabecula behaviour very well. The model curves match the experimental results in the loading phase, holding period and most of the unloading ramp. The purely viscoelastic material constants are very close in value for both considered tips, but purely elastic constants differ. Conclusions: The results indicate that the constitutive model based on the indentation with the Vickers tip does not cover the plastic residual deformation. When a viscoelastic response of bone is expected, a model with constants calibrated for the spherical tip should be used, and the other set of parameters values (Vickers tip) when trabeculae may undergo plastic deformation.

Ganoderma resinaceum, which belongs to the Ganodermataceae family, is a fungus that is rare in Poland, and occurs mainly in green areas. In the light of the lack of literature reports concerning the degree of aggressiveness of the fungus in relation to the host and the decomposition rate of wood, we carried out an in-depth study of two trees on a new, previously unlisted site in Poland. We performed multilevel instrumental studies with the use of an acoustic tomograph and a resistograph in order to establish the degree of decomposition of the wood tissue of pedunculate oaks, combined with a visual assessment conducted using the VTA method.

Dęby szypułkowe Quercus robur L. stanowią w Polsce najokazalsze drzewa, występujące w zasięgu naturalnym. Według różnych źródeł obwód pni najgrubszych drzew mierzony na wysokości pierśnicy przekracza 1000 cm. Dęby przedstawiane były często w literaturze naukowej i popularnonaukowej przede wszystkim ze względu na swoje rozmiary, ale także wartość kulturową i historyczną. Opracowania tego typu najczęściej dotyczyły najbardziej okazałych egzemplarzy tego gatunku w skali kraju. W odniesieniu do Pomorza Zachodniego brak w literaturze naukowej danych dotyczących największych okazów z województwa zachodniopomorskiego, które jest naturalnym miejscem występowania gatunku. Badania przeprowadzone w latach 2017-2018 stanowią próbę usystematyzowania wiedzy w tym zakresie w skali regionu i zostały przeprowadzone na grupie drzew najgrubszych pod względem obwodu pierśnicowego. Analiza objęła szczegółowy opis parametrów dendrologicznych oraz ocenę stanu zdrowotnego według skal stosowanych we współczesnej dendrologii. Uwzględniono również informacje zawarte w źródłach historycznych. Badaniami objęto 12 egzemplarzy dębu szypułkowego Quercus robur L.

Pedunculate oaks of Quercus robur L. are the most magnificent trees in Poland, which occur in their natural range. According to various sources, the circumference of the trunks of the thickest trees measured at breast height may exceed 1000 cm. Oaks of impressive sizes were often presented in the scientific and popular science literature primarily due to their size, but also cultural and historical value. Studies of this type most often referred to the most impressive specimen of this species on the national scale. In reference to Western Pomerania, there is no scientific study on the largest specimen in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, which is a natural occurrence of this species. Research carried out in 2017-2018 is an attempt to systematize knowledge in this area on the regional scale and has been carried out on a group of trees that are the most impressive in terms of the circumference measured at breast height. The analysis included a detailed description of dendrological parameters and an assessment of the health status according to the scales used in modern dendrology. Information from historical sources was also included. The study covered 12 copies of pedunculate oak Quercus robur L.

Morwa biała Morus alba L. jest drzewem z rodziny morwowatych Moraceae, które pochodzi z Azji Wschodniej i pojawiło się w Europie w połowie XII wieku. Największe zainteresowanie uprawą morwy białej przypada na XVIII i XIX wiek i z tego okresu pochodzą najstarsze zachowane aleje morwowe na Pomorzu Przednim i Zachodnim. Największe zasługi w promowaniu tego gatunku na terenie Prus miał cesarz niemiecki Fryderyk II. W ostatnim stuleciu zainteresowanie morwą znacznie spadło i ze względu na jej przeciętne walory ozdobne spotykana jest coraz rzadziej w terenach zieleni. Najdłuższa krajowa aleja morw białych złożona z 31 egzemplarzy liczy prawie 800 metrów długości.

White mulberry Morus alba L. is a tree from the Moraceae family, which originated in East Asia and came to Europe in the mid-12th century. The greatest level of interest in the cultivation of white mulberry was observed in the 18th and 19th century and the oldest preserved mulberry alleys in Fore-Pomerania and Western Pomerania originate from this period. The greatest accomplishments in promoting this species in Prussia should be attributed to German Emperor Frederick II. In the last century, the interest in mulberry has significantly declined and, due to its average ornamental qualities, it is less and less common in green areas. The longest national white mulberry alley, consisting of 31 specimens, stretches over 800 meters.
