The author attempts to analyze features that a teacher should take into consideration when teaching soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces a foreign language, and points to a complexity of a soldier-student personality. She further indicates such elements as motivation (the Maslow's hierarchy, the Atkinson' achievement motivation, external, internal, instrumental and integration motivation), stress, student's positive and negative attitude towards a language and culture of the countries this language is spoken in (ethnocentrism), as well as such characteristics as biological, psychological and operational intelligence.
