This contribution deals with the analysis of traction vehicle motion recorded by a electronical speed tachograph, and also shows the possibilities of digitising the record and its use for dynamic analysis of the traction vehicle motion. In some cases is not possible to determine collision velocity of a train (in case of extraordinary event) or stopping point, so that value could be used for calculations of deceleration mean value and theoretic braking distances calculation. For deceleration mean value assessment and braking distances calculation in this case is possible to use a procedure characterized by sequent iterative calculation of deceleration mean value.
