Coraz większą popularność zyskują produkty wytwarzane w okolicy miejsca zamieszkania konsumenta, oferowane na rynkach lokalnych, w systemach krótkich łańcuchów dostaw. Są to systemy promowane i implementowane w programach UE, dotyczących rozwoju rolnictwa i wsi. Producent poprzez eliminację pośredników uzyskuje nadwyżkę finansową, a konsument ma możliwość zakupu świeżej, oryginalnej żywności, bezpiecznej i zdrowej. Weryfikacja unijnych przepisów higienicznych doprowadziła do uwzględnienia zasady elastyczności w odniesieniu do małych jednostek produkcyjnych, mając na uwadze ich lokalny charakter. Wobec bardzo wysokiej oceny działalności analizowanych mikro przedsiębiorstw, w ramach realizowanego projektu, istnieje możliwość korekty niektórych działań w celu dalszej poprawy cech jakościowych i bezpieczeństwa produkowanych przetworów pochodzenia zwierzęcego, zwłaszcza w zakresie peklowania, wędzenia, studzenia, chłodzenia i pakowania.

Products manufactured in the vicinity of the consumer’s place of residence, offered on local markets, in short supply chain systems, are gaining more and more popularity. These are systems promoted and implemented in EU’s agriculture and rural areas development of agriculture and rural areas programs. By eliminating intermediaries, the producer obtains a financial surplus, and the consumer has the opportunity to buy fresh, original, safe and healthy food. The revision of EU hygiene rules has led to the inclusion of the flexibility principle for small production units, bearing in mind their local nature. Due to the very high evaluation of the analyzed micro-enterprises, as part of the project, there is a possibility of adjusting some activities for further improve the quality and safety of animal origin products, especially in the fields of curing, smoking, cooling, refrigerating and packaging of raw materials and processed products.

In this paper, we report new records of rare diatoms that have recently been found in Southern Poland. Planothidium nanum was found only in the upper reaches of the Centuria River, which is not exposed to human influence, while Navicula flandriae was found in two rivers (the Bolina and the Mleczna) affected by salt mine water from hard coal mines. The impact of anthropogenic salinity on diatom communities is as yet poorly documented. Therefore, we conducted a survey on this phenomenon. We surveyed seven sampling sites for diatom assemblages and habitat characteristics, including three sampling sites impacted by mine water. Navicula flandriae was recorded at both sampling sites affected by salt mine water and in two other rivers (the Centuria and the Mitręga), indicating its wide preference for salinity. We confirmed the occurrence of P. nanum at the same site where this species was found and described in our previous paper. In addition, we recorded the occurrence of this species at two other sites in habitats with similar characteristics (lower reaches of the Centuria and Wiercica rivers). Our results indicate a more common occurrence of N. flandriae and P. nanum, which means that further monitoring of diatoms is necessary.

Madagascar is an isolated island characterized by a high degree of endemism at all taxonomic levels. Diatom assemblages of the region are still poorly known and sporadic sampling events in various habitats (e.g. lagoons, mangroves) have revealed a large number of taxa that could not be identified. This study presents detailed descriptions of two new species of Luticola: L. nosybeana and L. madagascarensis, collected from mangrove roots on Nosy Be Island. Comparisons with the described congeners showed that the density of striae in Luticola nosybeana is higher than that in L. belawanensis and proximal raphe endings terminate as irregular, shallow grooves. Luticola madagascarensis differs from L. similis in the shape of proximal raphe endings, which are short and expanded in the latter, while continue with irregular, shallow, elongated L-shaped grooves in L. madagascarensis. Luticola nosybeana and L. madagascarensis can be distinguished under a light microscope by the shape of the central area (bow-tie shaped in L. madagascarensis and deltoid in L. nosybeana) and isolated pores (robust and well visible in L. madagascarensis, poorly discernible in L. nosybeana). The two new species are unique in their habitat preferences: while all known congeners are freshwater, the new species inhabit estuarine mangroves.
