Based on experimental data ofgrains fluidization reported by T. Siwiec for backwash water temperature 12°Cand taking into account knownfrom the literature equations describing expansion of filter media as a function of water intensity for different backwash water temperatures curves describing filter grains stratification were developed. These curves ref er to the rangę of temperatures between i and 28°C and to the following materials used as filter media: anthracite, barite, chalcedonite, distomir, klinoptilolite, nevtraco, quartz sand, pyrolusite. Such curves can be applied for selecting backwash water intensity as a function of its temperature.

Purpose: of that paper was analysing main gases used in micro-jet cooling after welding. The main reason of it was to investigate possibilities of getting varied amount of acicular ferrite (AF) in WMD (weld metal deposit). High amount of acicular ferrite influences positively impact toughness of weld. Design/methodology/approach: During research varied gases were testes as micro-jet parameters. Further the chemical analysis, micrograph tests and Charpy V impact test of the metal weld deposit on pendulum machine were carried out. The Charpy V impact test was prepared according to standard ISO EN 148-1 Metallic materials - Charpy pendulum impact test - Part 1: Test method. Samples for impact testing were prepared according to standard ASTM A370. Findings: Varied amount of acicular ferrite in weld metal deposit (in range 55%-75%) in terms of micro-jet cooling parameters (in that case kind of gas and gas pressure). This high amount of acicular ferrite is unheard in weld metal deposit in another way or other methods of welding such as MAG or TIG. Research limitations/implications: That research was made for MIG method (according to PN-EN ISO 4063:2009) only. Another method of welding in this article was not tested. Practical implications: Micro-jet cooling it is way to get higher amount of acicular ferrite in weld metal deposit than the usual methods of welding. It is very important because it could be used to steering of weld joint structure and mechanical properties (for example impact toughness). Originality/value: In this research new method of cooling weld joint during welding was used. At the present time use of micro-jet cooling while MIG is in the testing phase and requires an accurate diagnosis. This method is very promising and capable of industrial application, mainly due to the significant improvement of weld quality and reduces costs.

Paper presents description of the principle of work, structure and basic technical parameters of the Maritime Coastal Surveillance Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) Radar CRM-203 type constructed by Telecommunication Research Institute Ltd. in Gda?sk. Results of its tests in real conditions and comparison with pulse ship radars with scanners installed in the same place will be presented during the conference.

Content available remote Modern precise high-power water-cooling systems for press quenching
EN
Demand for extrusions in transport applications is increasing rapidly. The extrusions must be strong, light, crashworthy and may have to undergo hydrofonning. This implies low wall thicknesses [...] in strong alloys that need very fast quenching to obtain the required T4 temper. Crashworthiness - the ability to absorb a lot of energy in crushing deformation - demands very unifoml properties throughout the section, and so does hydroforming. Various systems of water or air/water jets, with and without scanning, with and without arrangements for precisely aiming the jets, have proved effective for less difficult alloys in wall thicknesses down to 3 mm. These are unsuitable for the new types of transport extrusions, either inducing physical distortion or non-uniform mechanical properties. A novel cooling system that satisfies the new requirements uses laminar water jets of 50-250 [...] diameter in a densely packed array of up to 10/cm2. These are arranged in modules whose position and direction of aim can be adjusted relative to the part of the extrusion they cool, assuring linear cooling of all parts of the section at up to 500 K/s. The array of modules is very compact and not expensive. A sophisticated system of water microfiltration ensures that the fine nozzles do not become blocked.

PL

The paper presents an experimental stand for measurements of liquid viscosity (including viscosity of liquid metals) at the temperature range of 293-1273 K. The stand has been utilized to evaluate viscosity of a certain aluminum alloy at the temperature range of 891-973 K. The influence of the diameter of the ball used in the testing device on the time of falling down has been evaluated.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono analizę wyboru materiału zastępczego do modelowania procesów wyciskania i iniekcji stopów aluminium w stanie półciekłym.

An analysis of selecting substitute materials for modelling extrusion and injection processes of semi-solid aluminium are presented in the following work. The selection of three models made of gel solution being equal to (i.e. behaving as) semi-solid aluminium during extrusion process is the main result of the research. These materials are prototypes that could be used for further research allowing modelling segregation effect as well. There are also rheological characteristics of selected modelling materials presented, which in connection with flow pictures allows to make quantitative research on the process.
