Content available remote A cooperative model for implementing complex virtual enterprises

Authors strongly argue for the cooperative model of software development based on a virtual enterprise paradigm, where classic models such as waterfall or spiral may fail. Arguments have been supported with concrete evidence gathered during the recently concluded MEMORIAL IST-2001-33441 project funded by EU [1].

Omówiono zasadą działania przetworników strunowych, przyrządy pomiarowe z przetwornikami strunowymi oraz schemat skomputeryzowanego systemu pomiarowego. Następnie przedstawiono dwa przykłady zastosowania opracowanego systemu pomiarowego. W jednym przykładzie pokazano przemieszczenia budowli wlotowej górnego zbiornika wodnego Elektrowni Wodnej „ Żarnowiec ” spowodowane zmianą poziomu wody w górnym zbiorniku. W drugim przykładzie przedstawiono zmiany szerokości i zmiany kształtu szczeliny dylatacyjnej w długim pięciopiętrowym budynku, spowodowane zmianą temperatury jego ścian zewnętrznych.

Computerised measuring system designed for remote, automatic measurements of building's displacements and deformations was constructed in the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography within research project No 9 T12E 006 08, financed by the Scientific Research Committee. The measuring instrument, being a part of the system, was equipped with string converter, whose sensors are formed from tensed strings, which are activated to crosswise, fading vibrations. Change of vibration frequency is a measure of change of the measured value. One-string converters were used for constructing thermometers, while two-string converters were applied for constructing gravitation inclinometers and gap gauges. Thermometers, inclinometers and gap gauges are fastened firmly to the examined object; they are connected to the interface, linked to the computer. Owing to the specialised software computer controls the measuring process, processes the results of measurements to the needed form and stores them in the computer memory. The results of measurements can be monitored and printed in digital or graphical form. Two sets of measuring systems were prepared; one of them was installed on hydraulic engineering object, while the second was mounted on long, sixstorey building. In first case the system measures displacements of inlet construction, belonging to the upper reservoir of Żarnowiec electric power plant, which were caused by changes in water level. The system mounted on six-storey building was used for measuring temperature of building's walls and ambient temperature, as well as for measuring changes in width and shape of expansion gap. For both applications of the computerised measuring system the results of measurements were given in table and graphical form.
