International trade in herbs and spices is showing steady growth. This may contribute to the deterio-ration of their quality (complex supply chains) and the search for alternative, cheaper sources (adul-teration). This paper presents the results of quality control of culinary herbs available on the European markets. Eight spices were evaluated: savory, lovage, basil, thyme, marjoram, oregano, fennel, mus-tard. The tests were performed (from January 2022 till January 2023) for three production batches from five different suppliers, and analyzed such parameters as aroma, overall appearance, impurity content, net weight, moisture content, ash content and essential oils. The analyzed parameters are the basic quality characteristics controlled by institutions overseeing the quality of foodstuffs. The deter-minations were made on the basis of European standards. The results show deviations from the stand-ards especially in the content of essential oils. Slight exceedances of the standards were also recorded for water and total ash content. On the other hand, for such parameters as net weight, impurity content, general appearance or odor, no overstepping of acceptable standards was recorded.

Similarly, legislation also describes the investigation procedure for non-compliances occurring during the notification of dietary supplements. Nevertheless, the authors proposed a description and visualisation of the procedure by analysing its legal conditions in detail. Furthermore, they drew attention to the provisions’ ambiguity and the resulting formal doubts.

Purpose: The purpose of this work is to analyze the actual changeover time of a given machine and apply the developed changes. Design/methodology/approach: Properly designed and implemented, the SMED method allows you to limit the setup time for a given machine. Retrofitting in Lean optics is one of the activities that does not add value to the organization, because of its waiting time. Findings: As a result of the changes implemented, it was possible to determine measurable effects for the company in the category of "waiting" in the Muda aspect. Research limitations: The presented analysis has a spatially and temporally limited dimension, which could be the trigger for expanding the research in the future. Originality/value: This article presents actions leading to the optimization of the Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine production process by using one of the Lean Management concepts - in this case, it is the Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) method.

The purpose of the paper is to analyse and demonstrate the trends in the scope of data concerning the number of ISO 9001 certificates incorporated in companies around the world with consideration of market division into 39 sectors. The study utilised the desk research method for analysing the available sources of data for the studied problem, especially covering their compilation, mutual verification, processing and reasoning. Then, multi-dimensional comparative analyses were conducted for the obtained results within a time framework of 1998-2017. As result of the conducted analyses, leading sectors in particular countries in terms of the number of incorporated ISO 9001 series standards were established. This enabled identifying the tendencies and determining the further directions of change. The paper is original in that it is based on analysing data within an industry framework in the period of nine years, identifying existing trends and establishing specific cases (countries and industries) for which the ISO 9001 standards are common and for which they are a niche.
