This article presents an approach to planning rail freight transport taking into account the disruptions that occur during their implementation. The issues raised are related to the multi-aspect perception of factors influencing the organization of transport, in which immunity and safety play significant roles. The authors present an analysis of disruptions relating to the causes and effects of adverse events for selected traffic and operational parameters, including delays of freight trains in Poland from 2019-2022. The analysis of adverse events (accidents and serious accidents) in the rail transport system made it possible to present the rates of accidents when crossing tracks in prohibited places, at crossings on the public and separate networks, related to signals passed at danger events, and related to track works and the technical condition of rolling stock. In the case of the effects of adverse events, a rate was determined for freight train delays. The authors also developed a method for determining the value of disruptions in rail freight transport. A case study containing disruption quantification for a given freight train route is presented. The article emphasizes that a significant challenge in the rail transport sector is the proper organization of the operational activities of railway carriers concerning disruptions occurring during transport.
The article presents selected aspects regarding transporting goods intended for animal feeding. The transport of this type of cargo must meet trade safety requirements and be monitored at every stage of the transport chain. The safety of transport of this type of goods is given priority because possible contamination of feed could affect the quality of food products and threaten human health. The authors referred to the reasons for creating an international procedure regarding, among others, the transport of this group of goods, limiting the risks mentioned above. The proposed procedure is a response to various incidents of feed contamination. It was introduced as an internal system and then developed internationally. The article points to the multi-threaded nature of topics related to the risk management process during the transport of feed intended for animal feeding by rail. This article presents an approach to this issue that considers a multi-aspect analysis of decision support. Risk assessment in transporting feed by rail is an essential factor influencing safety in trade. The article presents the FMEA method, which enables decision support analysis considering non-compliance risk. The recommended method that enables the examination of transport processes for this group of goods is the analysis of the types and effects of possible errors. The task solved using the FMEA method is fed by historical data, the transport task, and the FMEA methodology. Three elements are analyzed - the significance of non-compliance, the risk of non-compliance, and the possibility of detecting non-compliance. They enable quantification and determination of a risk priority number. If the acceptable risk level is exceeded, changes are made to the transport task. The article broadly refers to aspects of risk analysis, which allows you to manage the transport process.
The article presents a proposal for the use of a risk matrix for assessing the safety of the implementation of rail freight transport. The starting point for considerations related to risk assessment is the conditions arising from the business need and the obligation of entities operating in the railway market to ensure the safety of the implementation of freight tasks. The authors presented selected literature within the framework of the issues discussed. The layers of risk assessment, which include the analytical layer, the decision layer and the elimination layer, indicate the possibility of considering the problem of risk assessment from different perspectives. The identification of direct causes and consequences of undesirable events during the implementation of rail freight transport was also made. The article describes one of the methods of risk management which is the risk matrix. The authors stressed that the construction of a risk matrix should be preceded by an analysis of the factors that affect the safety of rail transportation. This is possible by determining their probability of occurrence and setting values for the consequences of adverse events. The article divides the assignment of levels of adverse events to a five-level risk matrix (slight, low, medium, high, very high). Also presented is a case study considering the risk assessment of rail freight transport in Poland using the risk matrix method for railway accidents in the area of railway lines. Thanks to the development of the risk matrix, a risk management strategy can be used. The last part of the article is a summary, which highlights the possibility of applying the presented approach to risk assessment among entities operating in the rail transport market.
The aim of this article is to assess the risk of performance of rail freight transport on the basis of an analysis of identified risk areas based on statistical data on the causes of accidents that occurred on the lines of railway transport in Poland. A critical review of selected scientific studies relating to the risk assessment process for identified areas of the railway system has been undertaken. Based on statistical data, the authors analysed the causes of accidents on railway lines in 2019 in Poland and determined the probability of occurrence of a given cause. In addition, the article calculates the probability of vehicle delays for different emergency situations occurring in the performance of rail freight transport operations. This enabled the authors of the article to carry out a risk assessment of freight train delays on railway lines.

Ones of the most important drivers of the country-wide logistics service performance are the number, quality and functionality of intermodal terminals. A systemic operational cooperation between node elements in the net of such facilities is crucial for the efficiency and environmental friendliness of the national logistic system. Moreover, looking from the perspective of national economy sustainable development, there is also a need to provide intermodal reloading services all over the county so creation of appropriate facilities in regions where they are missing is especially important. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region has favourable conditions for placement of logistic service infrastructure. Enterprise strategies should assume increased freight diversification as according to the EU transport policy 30% of long distance inland surface transport should be done with usage of environmentally friendly modes. Vast majority of freight is transported by roads. Construction of a new railway infrastructure, including intermodal terminals, should create new possibilities in the field of organization of physical distribution flows.
