We investigates novel methods for creating systems for assisting musical composing. In this presentation we describe some previously neglected problem areas in musical structure analysis: knowledge-based computational expectation mapping and narrative-based structure. We also investigate how
results from musical pattern analysis might be used for predicting human cognitive processing of general commonsense domains in everyday life. We conclude with a statement of how investigating music can lead to insights in other fields of cognitive science.
