Materiały inteligentne to stosunkowo nowe materiały, których produkcja i zastosowanie rozwinęły się w ciągu ostatniego półwiecza (pierwszy komercyjne dostępne element pojawił się w 1950 roku). Materiały inteligentne nazywane są również materiałami ,,smart"[3]. "Smart " oznacza jakąś cechę tych materiałów, które są porównywalne do biologicznych mięśni i nerwów. Najważniejszymi materiałami z tej grupy są materiały piezoelektryczne, magnetostrykcyjne, stopy z pamięcią kształtu (Shape Memory Alloys (SMA)), ciecze elektro i magneto-reologiczne (Electrorheological fluid (ERF)) oraz płyny optyczne. W pracy szczególną uwagę zwrócono na zastosowanie materiałów z pamięcią kształtu.

In this paper there were presented a mathematical model of a material with a shape memory properties and the results of simulation of the use of this material for the beam control. The structural model of the structure of interest was built in the Patran system while the computations were carried out in the Nastran system. The elements of the material with the shape memory where modeled in the MATLAB package. In the paper there were presented thermal and dynamic characteristics of the material, also The obtained results show the possibility of the use of the material with a shape memory for changing spectrum of natural vibrations.
