Purpose: The aim of the work is to present the concept of an application that enables people from various industries to establish contacts in the process of architectural design. Design/methodology/approach: The best solution to the problem would be to develop and design application and implement it on Android devices. Findings: Different types of business models will be compared with their effectiveness and popularity. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies will be reviewed. Research limitations/implications: The work focuses on presenting the concept of an application that facilitates establishing contacts between representatives of architecture industries. Practical implications: This is an important issue for future users as it allows for product improvement. Originality/value: The application can be a preliminary step to developing a conflict management strategy.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the condition of managing manual software testers. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis is based on a survey targeting three groups (managers, testers, development team members) that will touch on areas consistent with the management functions. Findings: The condition of testers’ management can be described as good, but there is a probability of improvement for the areas that have been studied. Research limitations/implications: It’s worth carrying out similar research on larger samples to make sure about the obtained averages values and statistical differences between them. It’s also worth proposing methods to improve the possible problematic areas that have been found in this research paper. Practical implications: This paper may draw the attention of managers whose subordinates are software testers that there are areas where they can improve their management. Originality/value This research shows how testers’ management is perceived by managers, how it is perceived by testers and how it is perceived by other members of development teams.

Content available Techniques of mobile application development process
EN
Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to present the approaches of developing mobile applications and the technologies used for this process to facilitate the choice of the right programming approach in the initial phase of an IT project. Design/methodology/approach: Taking the right and adequate decision on choosing the proper approach to software development should be preceded by searching for available solutions and a there reliable comparison. The collected and compared information comes from current scientific sources and official conferences, which is the basis for making the right decisions at the start of a new project. Findings: Hybrid approach to the manufacture of mobile applications provide applications to run the most popular mobile operating systems. However, the technologies used in this programming approach are not adopted to the extent they have been in the native approach. Originality/value: The article summarizes and compares the approaches of developing mobile applications. The presented comparison, together with information on the used technologies, helps system architects and programmers in making a decision about the use of a given programming approach based on the given technologies when creating a new project.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to present the importance of the EU Funds in infrastructure development in Poland. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis is based on a survey, which indicated importance and directions of EU Funds in polish rail infrastructure. Also the survey measured the status of infrastructure and the most famous items of it. Findings: (mandatory) Positive impact of European Funds in infrastructural investments and development. Originality/value The research shows the value of investments, which have a significant contribution of EU Funds.

Purpose: The article presents a comparative analysis of the web application clients performance. Design/methodology/approach: A strategy of comparing the performance of web application clients using the JavaScript programming language was proposed. Findings: The metrics used to measure the performance of web application clients were presented. Research limitations/implications: Techniques affecting the optimal work of web application clients, which can be used regardless of the technology applied were described. Originality/value: Comparison of the performance of frameworks using the JavaScript programming language. The necessary steps during the process of testing the performance of web applications were proposed and measures relevant to the test were listed. The article is dedicated to the wide spectrum of computer system users.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to present the research on reliability of mobile applications in distributed systems. Design/methodology/approach: Ensuring the reliable operation of the software created for Android OS is related to ensuring compatibility with different versions of the systems. The use of various security policies, formal and structural requirements in various Android releases results in a high failure rate of dedicated programs. Findings: There is, therefore, a need to implement new testing methods. Originality/value: The article proposes a method of software reliability analysis dedicated to distributed systems. The developed solution is based on concurrency using the actor model. As part of the research, the effectiveness of the developed solutions was evaluated.

Content available Marketing strategies in mobile app development
EN
Purpose: The article attempts to show that the effective marketing is a key condition for achieving large profits in mobile app development. Design/methodology/approach: Promising IT projects can, very often, end in a disaster if people do not choose the right strategy of sales. There are many promotional activities available as well. This study investigates different types of business models that are currently used in the marketing of mobile applications. Findings: Different types of business models will be compared with their effectiveness and popularity. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies will be reviewed. Moreover, aspects, which influence the final revenue from the application, will also be shown. Originality/value: The entire discussion and the selection of the best strategy will be summarized.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to illustrate the usage of techniques known from chaos theory to analyze the risk Design/methodology/approach: In this case the objects of application are winnings graphs of different poker players. Two types of players are presented; winning players (those with positive expected value) and breaking even players (expected value close to zero). Findings: Charts were analyzed with a fractal dimension calculated with the box method. Originality/value: Relation between fractal dimension and Hurst exponent is shown. Relation between risk in sense of chaos theory and players’ long-term winning is also described. Further applications of chaos theory to analyze the risk in games of chance are also proposed.

Purpose: The main purpose of the research is to examine the suitability of exploratory tests in the software testing process. Design/methodology/approach: An experiment, carried out for the sake of this study, consisted of two parts. First, a test was performed, and in the second part a survey was conducted, which allowed for the comparison of exploratory and test-based tests. Findings: The results of the tests indicated a slightly lower effectiveness of the exploratory approach, which may have been caused by the conditions of the experiment: the choice of the tested software, short duration of test sessions, participants lacking knowledge about the investigated software and experience in performing exploratory tests. Originality/value: Despite the weaker results obtained, the exploratory tests proved useful, as evidenced by the detection of distinctive errors, not found during tests based on test cases. In the survey, 90% of respondents confirmed the use of formalized test approach, based on test cases, while just over a half (57%) indicated having experience in conducting exploratory tests. Testers considered both approaches useful, addressing greater need for conducting formalized tests using test cases. Results included in the research allowed to indicate the qualities and shortcomings of the exploratory approach to software testing.
