The author points out that the intellectual capital attracts more and more attention of researchers. Efficient measuring of the capital requires an overall approach, taking into account various perspectives and involving the use of various methods. He also stresses that at present there are no in-depth studies on the impact of intellectual capital on organisation operations. Another untracked field is the analysis of interrelations between the individual components of intellectual capital.

Social capital includes trust, mutual trust, common values and behaviour that bind together human groups and communities and make collective actions possible. The author emphasises the existence of a significant relationship between the level of social capital and the dynamics of economic growth. He claims that all activities aimed at increasing the level of social capital will contribute to achieving of macroeconomic objectives.

Polish research and higher education sector is among the few fields of public life which so far have not undergone a major reform. Polish universities follow the functional pattern that emerged soon after the World War II. The model involves a strict hierarchy and an elective character of authorities. On the basis of a performed diagnosis of the current state, the author suggests the most important measures that need to be implemented to improve the condition of Polish higher education institutions.

In one of the definitions is presented that "the knowledge is the capability to effective action". But a knowledge has many dimensions, one of the most important is the tacit knowledge included automatically to general knowledge of people. In other explanation is said that "tacit" means: "to know more as we can say". This interesting consideration with additional scientific and practical discussions (examples) are here demonstrated. The present system of education is compared with the model educative system demonstrating corresponding differences. The conclusions present the role of informative technologies as well.

The growth of the innovativeness in all European Union countries is one of the strategic goals of their economies. The related factors, joined to measurement of the innovativeness, are based on four areas: 1. Human resources, 2.Creation of new knowledge, S.Transmission and creation of new knowledge, and 4. Innovations in finances, output and markets. They are here explained correctly, then described more detailed and compared with USA and Japan results as well.

There are exist 4 pillars of knowledge based economy They are: 1.education and training, 2.information infrastructure, 3.eco-nomic motivators and institutional conditions, and 4.innovations systems. The intellectual potential or capital of every company is obviously linked to the type of management and internal, positive use of proper employees. The first steps of development were based on "learning by doing", what is presently very applicable as well. The knowledge uses 2 blocks for the determination of its relevancy, In one block are included; ideas, experimental results, facts and statements. In the second one we can distinguish: intuition, experience, truth and evaluation. The global market presents very good perspectives for such performance, because the knowledge leads to better orientation and more effective decision making, what is a practical element of the competitiveness. But the quality of management forms the base for the further development, where the time (speed) is other element which has to be considered. Such discussion, with some examples, seeing from international point of view, is widely demonstrated.

In the XXI century the most important resources in enterprises will be so called knowledge workers and their productivity realized. And the best "tools" are not in technical workshops, but really in human brains. In the new economy, the production of knowledge will be decisive. Who does not understand the simplicity of that idea, ya will be not more competitive in the strategic sense. For such situations and continuous progress, the development of services with the strongest focus on intellectual entrepreneurship, is necessary. How to determine the productivity of knowledge workers? How to measure it? In such new circumstances the new formulation of productivity is probably needed. The starting point is joined with the correct definition of the job, its goals, tasks and realization ways. Being so, it will be much easier to perform so called "correct work" and not to do correctly i.e. an "inappropriate work". The discussion of this kind, with interesting conclusions, is in the context of the articte presented.

Przedsiębiorstwa takie opierają swój sukces o produkty i efektywne wykorzystanie wiedzy. Wiedza jest wbudowywana w produkty - powstają produkty bogate w wiedzę (knowledge rich products).

Do określenia wyłaniającego się modelu nowej gospodarki pretenduje co najmniej kilka określeń: gospodarka postindustrialna, gospodarka wiedzy, gospodarka informacyjna. Jest wiele przesłanek aby nową gospodarkę określić mianem gospodarki wiedzy. Zarządzanie w gospodarce wiedzy stawia managerom inne wyzwania niż to miało miejsce w przypadku zarządzania przedsiębiorstwami ery industrialnej.

In the literature are used different meanings for the same determination, like knowledge economy, postindustrial economy, information economy, service economy and so on. The problem is not so new but the concept, based on the newly focused challenges is modern oriented, including the information technology development. Therefore the question: how to manage in new economy?, is practically open, searching proper effectiveness and results with existing turbulencies and problems. In the context are presented very specific principles, formed for such industrial conditions. They are very discutible but demonstrate the direction of thinking. And they are described in the article. The impact of IT (Information Technologies) is emphasized.

The development of civilizations is described by many historians in form of epoches or cycles, which practically haven't very sharp dividing limits. The progress is evolutive. On the beginning of 60-ties was formed the meaning of "postindustriol society". Presently is known that the social classes will be other; the decisive factor is (will be) based on the intellectual potential and on the education in generally. Therefore "the society of knowledge" is considered as the next stage of general development. From other point of view, many opinions present it as "comeback to humanistic roots of civilization". The problem has been caught not only by entrepreneurs but by politicians too. Some of them indicate the incoming of "economy knowledge", demonstrating the new role of education and science. The consideration of this kind ore presented in the article.
