The carbothermic reduction of copper slag at the different binary basicity (CaO/SiO2 ) was carried out for recovering iron by wet magnetic separation. Calcium carbonate is found to be capable of improving the iron recovery, as well as increasing the particle size of metallic iron significantly. Experimental evidence showed that CaO reacted with SiO2 to form calcium silicate and FeO was liberated from the 2FeO.SiO2 , decreased the content of Fe in the slags, which improved the iron recovery during the magnetic separation. The final product, assaying 90.23%Fetotal (representing a metallization degree of 93.94%) and 0.58% Cu at the iron recovery of 85.70% was achieved at the basicity of 0.60, which can be briquetted as a burden material for weathering resistant steel making by electric arc furnace to replace part of scrap.

Content available remote Flexural Properties of Syntactic foam Reinforced by Warp Knitted Spacer Fabric
EN
The aim of this study was to investigate the flexural behaviours of syntactic foam reinforced by warp knitted spacer fabric (SF-WKSF). Seven kinds of SF-WKSF samples were fabricated by warp knitted spacer fabric (WKSF) with structural parameters including surface layer structures, inclination-angle and fineness of spacer yarns, different microballoons types and contents. The flexural tests were carried out and the bending properties of SF-WKSF were analysed based on the strength and modulus values obtained from the test results. It is indicated that the SF-WKSF shows higher flexural strength and modulus compared to neat syntactic foam with almost no impact on the density of composites. The results also demonstrate that the surface layer structure, inclination-angle of spacer yarns, microballons content and type have significant effects on the flexural responses of SF-WKSF. The composites exhibit better antibending capacities by selecting larger inclination-angle, closer surface layer structure, higher density and relatively higher content of S60HS microballoons.

It has been suggested that the standardised growth curve (SGC) method can be used to determinate De accurately and reduce the measurement time. However, different opinions regarding the applicability of the SGC method exist. In this paper, we report the construction of quartz OSL SGC for 35 aeolian samples from different parts of the Horqin dunefield in northeastern China, and then test their applicability for De determination. Our results suggest that: 1) up to a regeneration dose of 80 Gy, the SGC of the Horqin dunefield can be fitted using the exponential plus linear equation, with the r2 value of 0.97, and all the regeneration dose points closely stick to the fitting line, implying that all samples share a very similar dose-response curve; 2) for samples with De s ranging from 1 to 50 Gy, the ratios of SAR De to SGC De fall within the range of 0.9-1.1, and the average ratio of SAR De to SGC De is 1.01š0.01, close to unity. Therefore, the construction of SGC is correct, and the SGC is an effective procedure for accurate De determination for samples from the study area.
