Content available Synthesis of Conductive Cocoon Silk Composites
EN
Herein we report on the preparation of polyaniline (PANI) composite using a cocoon by in situ chemical oxidative polymerisation. The composites thus prepared were characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared (IR), and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. We confirmed the PANI/cocoon composite and subsequent carbonisation allowed the formation of micro-sized wafer-shaped carbon. The polymerisation reaction occurs in a chiral reaction field of the silk surface, which can be referred to as bio-interface polymerisation.

W artykule opisano przygotowanie polianilinowych (PANI) kompozytów przy zastosowaniu kokonów i przeprowadzeniu in situ chemicznej utleniającej polimeryzacji. Wytworzone kompozyty zostały scharakteryzowane za pomocą skaningowego mikroskopu elektronowego (SEM), analizy termograwimetrycznej (TGA), spektrofotometrii w podczerwieni (IR) oraz elektronowego rezonansu spinowego (ESR). Potwierdzono, że otrzymane kompozyty, a następnie ich karbonizacja umożliwiły powstawanie mikroskopijnej wielkości płytek węglowych.

We prepared lyotropic liquid crystal by using disodium cromogrycate that shows liquid crystal by dissolving in water. Next, we added monomer to the prepared solution, and electrolyic polymerisation was carried out. Finally, we obtained a conductive thin polymer film. This result shows that lyotrpic liquid crystal can be used for matrix.

We carried out electrochemical polymerisation in a cholesteric liquid crystal electrolyte solution. The polymer film prepared in the cholesteric liquid crystal showed chiropticality even though its monomer is an achiral. The surface morphology of the polymer was observed with polarising optical microscopy. Optical and electric properties were examined by UV-vis optical absorption, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry.

A ferroelectric liquid crystal was synthesised. We attempted electrochemical polymerisation in ferroelectric liquid crystal.

Cultivation of paramecium in the presence of physiologically active substances was carried out. We have monitored paramecium for 23 days in the solutions in the presence of physiologically active substances, and polyaniline as a redox active polymer.

Content available remote Chemical Polymerisation of Aniline in the Presence of Sericin
EN
A series of polyaniline/sericin composites were prepared by oxidative polymerisation of aniline in the presence of sericin. The preparation of polyaniline composites containing sericin were confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. From the result of electron spin resonance spectroscopy, the electron spin concentration of the composites decreases with sericin/aniline ratio in the polymerisation. Circular dichroism absorption spectroscopy measurements revealed that sericin influences aggregation state of polyaniline. Scanning electron microscopy suggested that the polyaniline composites show granular morphology. The composites display macroporous structure after carbonization.

Life involves many nonlinear phenomena. Non-linear chemical reactions can be a model for biological reactions. In the present research, we examine optical change of BZ reaction, and confirmed discharge of CO2.

We synthesised a rod like shaped new chiral inducer to construct chiral liquid crystal electrolyte solution. Next, electrochemical polymerisation was carried out in the chiral liquid crystal electrolyte solution. The surface morphology of the polymers were observed with polarising optical microscopy. Synthesis of the new chiral inducer and preparation of semi-conducting thin film in the cholesteric liquid crystal electrolyte solution were performed.

Signal molecules for quorum sensing are employed for ligands to palladium. The complex can be used as a catalyst. Migita-Kosugi-Stille coupling reactions are driven by using a series of N-(3- oxo-acyl)-L-homoserine lactones as ligands coordinating with Pd. Catalysis of [Pd-(signal molecules for quorum sensing), or Pd/QS] allows production of conjugated polymers with light-emitting functions.

Ullmann type polycondensations in the presence of CuI and a base were carried out to afford network type π-conjugated copolymers. Infrared absorption spectroscopy measurements and surface observation using a scanning electron microscopy are carried out. Electron spin resonance spectroscopy measurements revealed that the cross-linked copolymers thus obtained contain small amount of copper. This polymerization conveniently allows production of network π-conjugated polymers. The polymer can be expected to have thermo-resistance.

The polymerisation of aniline in the presence of pulp was carried out in saturated carbonated water in the place of sulfuric acid for the preparation of a PANI/pulp composite, and a conductive paper sheet was prepared from the composite using the papermaking technique. The surface structure and conductivity were examined. Furthermore, micro-fibre of PANI was prepared using a surfactant.

Content available remote Synthesis of Polyaniline in Carbonated Water in the Form of Nanofbre
EN
Te polymerisation of aniline was conducted in carbonated water in the presence of ammonium persulphate (APS) as an oxidizer. Infrared (IR) absorption spectroscopy was used to confrm the chemical structure of polyaniline (PANI) thus prepared in carbonated water, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confrmed that PANI possessed nanofbrous morphology. It is believed that the environment provided by carbonated water for the polymerisation of aniline resulted in the formation of nano-fbres. Te electrical conductivity of PANIs thus prepared was in the range of 10-4 S/m.

Pin-on-disk type sliding friction and wear experiments for an Al-Si alloy impregnated graphite composite (pin) in contact with a bearing steel (disk) were conducted at two loads in air to investigate the effects of relative humidity (RH) on the tribological characteristics of the composite. The friction and wear behavior and the pin-lifting phenomena due to the entrance of wear particles into the contacting surfaces were continuously measured during the experiments. SEM observations, together with EPMA, were also conducted to examine the material transfer on the sliding surfaces of the pin and disk. At 100 N, the friction coefficient is high at low RH levels, decreases with increasing RH to a minimum between 50 and 70 % RH and increases a little at high RH levels. The wear rate is very high in a severe wear regime at low RH levels, decreases with increasing RH to a minimum in a mild wear regime between 30 and 60 % RH and increases a little at high RH levels. From the EPMA results, at the RH levels where the friction and wear exhibit the minimum, the wide, compacted films consisting of the mixtures of graphite powder and wear particles of the Al-Si alloy are generated on the disk sliding surface. The films, preventing metal-to-metal contact with a release in adhesion, lead to a decrease in friction and wear.
