The wastewater produced by the metal industry is often present in the form of oil-in-water (O/W) or water-inoil (W/O) emulsions. These fluids contain a certain amount of valuable oil that can be recovered in the recycling process. Therefore, the development of novel, efficient, and low cost processes for the treatment of metalworking fluid is necessary. Demulsification to separate oil/water mixtures is a very interesting option because it allows the recovery and reuse of the lubricant oil and effects in cleaner, easily treatable wastewater.Chemical destabilization is the most common way of demulsification of metalworking fluids. As an example, inorganic salts can be used as demulsifiers. In the presented work the efficiency of treatment of cutting emulsions with chemical demulsification with usage of aluminum sulfate (IV) is described. The emulsion was prepared with Emulgol-ES12 self-emulsyfing oil delivered by Orlen S.A. In the research the feasibility of the demulsifier was checked. The novel in this paper is determination of the optimal dosage of emulsifier using the TurbiscanLab® apparatus. It is relatively quick and precise method that can be applied in the industry.

Emulsion flow through porous structure is used in many processes in the field of chemical engineering. Good examples of practical applications are Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques, soil remediation and treatment of oily wastewater. The emulsion transport in through porous media is not easy to describe, due to rheological behavior of emulsions and porous structure properties. In case of emulsified system flow through porous bed it is possible to observe the retention of oil on porous structure, and reduction of permeability of bed. In the presented study, we tried to investigate the influence of porous bed parameters on oil-in-water emulsion behavior during its flow and elution from porous structure. In experiments we used porous beds with varied particle size range and with different lengths. We measured pressure drop and related permeability changes in time. The turbidimetric and microscopic analysis that we conducted allowed us to check how concentration of emulsion changed during its flow and elution from porous structure.

Emulsified water-in-Diesel fuel is a solution that helps to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matters in compression-ignition engines. The biggest advantage of this fuel is a possibility to introduce it to older generation units without any modifications. The presented solution allows the mixture to be burned more complete which results in less soot formation. However, the practical application of this fuel is limited mainly because its limited stability. In this article we review the following issues connected with water-in diesel fuel: its production, stability, influence on engine performance and environmental benefits. The main aspect of this paper is to review the advantages related to better combustion of such emulsion and reduction in emission of health hazardous substances.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiona została modyfikacja klasycznej metody TOFS1S, umożliwiająca dokonanie najbardziej preferowanego przez decydentów wyboru, spośród wielu rozpatrywanych alternatyw w sytuacji, gdy wydajność każdej z nich względem odpowiednich kryteriów oceny wyrażona jest w postaci wartości rozmytych.

Multi-criteria decision making is a process of finding the best solution(s) from among multiple available alternatives. In a real-world, the data arc usually imprecise and therefore often not so deterministic, because of the unobtainable or incomplete information. This paper presents a modified TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method, that allows for multi-criteria evaluation of the available alternatives, while using the fuzzy data.
