Interactive 3D visualization technology has brought many benefits into education. Since it is possible to visualize behavior of wide range of devices, it is much easier to imagine processes where these devices are included. The paper demonstrates the application for interactive teaching of control theory. It allows to simulate a holographic model of a selected mechatronic system that is a digital visualization of the real device. The behaviour of the device is controlled by Scilab/Xcos, which is open‐source, cross‐platform numerical computational environment. The main purpose of the application is to help students with better understanding of physical meaning of abstract mathematical models, that describes dynamical systems.

The paper describes an educational mobile application that controls the 3D model of towercopter using augmented reality for smartphones. It is developed using the ARCore technology that allows insertion of 3D objects into a real space via smartphone or tablet. The application serves as a simple guide for a real device which is placed in laboratory and enables to create simulations based on user input data. The application interface is connected with Scilab API simulation module that provides data for 3D model animations. Users can set their own controller parameters into the predefined control structures. Application is a part of virtual laboratory and can help students with understanding of problems connected with education process.

Mechatronics belongs to the modern fields of the science and technology. Modern mechatronics combines mechanics, electronics, automation and informatics. However, young people often understand mechatronics as a combination of mechanics and electronics. This erroneous paradigm brings many problems in education and industry. Actual trend in the industry is Industry 4.0 - also called as fourth industrial revolution. It is a collective name for current automation, exchanging of data and manufacturing technologies. Today's industry (digital factories) is full of information and communication technologies such as Internet of Things, virtual / mixed reality, cloud computing, etc. Unfortunately, only small amount of high school pupils would like to study mechatronics because young generation is influenced by the outdated perception of this field and does not perceive some of its new aspects. They do not see modern technologies in this field. The authors of the paper decided to present mechatronics as a modern branch in an original way - by a fanfilm inspired by Avengers: Infinity War.

The paper demonstrates an application developed to help to evaluate ergonomics of a workplace. Ergonomics of a workplace has enormous impact on employees and their long-term work effectiveness, which causes an interest in this field from employers' point of view. The paper describes and compares several attitudes companies use to set up and evaluate workplace metrics, potential of virtual reality (VR) in the process, VR application proposal, implementation within Unity 3D engine and results achieved with implementation of this proposed solution. Current approaches also include motion tracking for ergonomics evaluation. These technologies are often far over smaller companies' budget. Described solution is reasonably priced also for small companies, using cheaper motion capture equipment.
