The renewable energy collector transformer (RCT) in a solar station, or a wind farm, transforms the voltage from the collector system to the transmission level voltages. As the primary goal is stepping up the voltage, the RCT is similar in this function to a generator step-up (GSU) transformer, but there are design features and operational characteristics, which would make these units unique, such as typical winding configuration wye-wye-buried delta, the LV winding is typically grounded through the neutral grounding reactor. The design has to include a presence of harmonics in LV currents and voltages.
