The interiors of reconstructed extensive blocks of the historic Main Town in Gdańsk are nowadays degraded areas, full of cars, with “holes” after never-finished archaeological excavations. It is not surprising that inhabitants avoid them. These are NON-PLACES. This situation prompts social movements to act. The first step towards the change was the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary project of revitalization of one of the backyards. The main issue was to find a way of its development accepted by users, economically justified and based on the cultural heritage of this unique city. This was noticed by the dwellers, the media and the local government as well. The second step – the implementation of the project – is in progress. Based on this example, the question could be asked how to improve public participation in development process to make it more inclusive and effective. The aim of the paper is to assess if Design Thinking methodology could help to strengthen dialogue in urban space. The project of development of the backyard in the Main Town in Gdańsk can be an example that it might be the relevant method of solving problems in cities in the participatory way.

W artykule opisano podstawowe zasady wykorzystania środowiska LabVIEW do realizacji transmisji danych w standardzie MODBUS. Środowisko LabVIEW dostarcza odpowiednich bibliotek i funkcji dla standardu MODBUS, umożliwia pomiary wielu wielkości fizycznych i ich analizę a także ułatwia projektowanie i programowanie systemów kontrolno-pomiarowych poprzez rozbudowane formy graficzne. Wszystkie funkcje realizowane w standardzie MODBUS są dostępne w LabVIEW, jednak część z nich wymaga rozbudowania, co pokazano na przykładzie sterowania światłami regulującymi ruch drogowy na przejściu dla pieszych. Opracowany program umożliwia obserwację działania standardu MODBUS, ocenę poprawności transmisji danych w układzie MASTER - SLAVE, wykrywanie i analizowanie błędów a także ocenę efektywności działania projektowanego układu, szczególnie z uwzględnieniem kryterium bezpieczeństwa sterowanego procesu.

The major goal of this essay is to present Modbus's structure, work and create model which is based on Modbus in the LabVIEW environment. The new model has to show communication between Master and Slave tool. User is able to define time parameter and stimulate process of changing traffic lights and it's dynamics based on new model. The program Virtual Serial Port Driver is used in this essay. This program enable to create virtual port which is necessary in communication between Master and Slave and modify library for Modbus in LabVIEW. The purpose of this essay is to under-line inefficient daily use of traffic lights. Defects in traffic light configuration causes difficulties in every day routine, and create traffic jam. User can use new model to set up different times of changing traffic lights and change cars' speed. Results of this experiment can improve traffic and assist in correct set up of traffic lights.

The paper presents the results of the research on a new polymer-gel electrolyte for electrochromic devices. In the performed studies, various electrolytes were used. They all contained an ionic conductor, a matrix of polymer gel and organic solvent or mixture of polar organic solvents. The electrolyte which had the best properties contained 8% LiCF₃SO₃ as an ionic conductor, a matrix consisting of two polymers: 10% PMMA, 6% PEO, and a mixture of the following two polar organic solvents: 38% propylene carbonate and 38% ethylene carbonate. The high conductivity (σ = 4.8 mS/cm), which provides easy deposition in layers, gives stability (resistance) in time and high transmittance value of radiation in the visible region makes the electrolyte very useful for electrochromic devices. A seven-layer electrochromic device with this new gel electrolyte was assembled according to the following formula: glass ₁ /ITO/WO₃/electrolyte/BP/ITO/glass ₂, where ITO was an indium-tin film oxide, WO₃ was an electrochemically deposited tungsten oxide film and BP an electrochemically deposited film of prussian blue. The density of the current flowing through the unit and the transmittance at the wavelength ʎ = 550 nm are given in the paper as a function of sinusoidal voltage. The transmittance varies from 70–50% (coloured) to 25–10% (for fully bleached) in the range of visible radiation and the colouration efficiency is high (above 100 cm²/C). These results are considerably better than those reported in the other similar studies.

A new method of thin dielectric mask preparation for Ag+ - Na+ ion exchange applications was developed. Electrodiffusion bonding of Al-film to glass was used to obtain very thin dielectric Al2O3 layer in the Al-glass transition zone. After Al removal, the quality of the dielectric mask was tested in Ag pure thermal diffusion and electrodiffusion processes in molten AgNO3.
