Computational dosimetry play a significant role in an industrial radiation processing at dose measurements in the product irradiated with electron beams (EB), X-ray and gamma ray from radionuclide sources. Accurate and validated programs for absorbed dose calculations are required for computational dosimetry. The program ModeStEB (modelling of EB processing in a three-dimensional (3D) multilayer flat targets) was designed specially for simulation and optimization of industrial radiation processing, calculation of the 3D absorbed dose distribution within multilayer packages. The package is irradiated with scanned EB on an industrial radiation facility that is based on the pulsed or continuous type of electron accelerators in the electron energy range from 0.1 to 25 MeV. Simulation of EB dose distributions in the multilayer targets was accomplished using the Monte Carlo (MC) method. Experimental verification of MC simulation prediction for EB dose distribution formation in a stack of plates interleaved with polyvinylchloride (PVC) dosimetric films (DF), within a packing box, and irradiated with a scanned 10 MeV EB on a moving conveyer is discussed.

Dose reader CD-07 has been introduced for measurements of a dose distribution during dose mapping exercises and for calculations of electron beam energy. This instrument consists of an SP-880 spectrophotometer equipped with a driving motor to move a dosimetric foil across light beam in the front of narrow light aperture. To control the movement of the foil and to present and store the measuring results a specialized software has been developed. In this paper the use of dose reader CD-07 in Performance Qualification of irradiated herbs was described.

R&D studies in the field of radiation technology in Poland are mostly concentrated at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology (INCT). The results of the INCT works on polymer and semiconductor modification have been implemented in various branches of national economy, particularly in industry and medicine. Radiation technology for polymer modification was implemented in the middle of the 1970-ties. Among others, the processes of irradiation and heat shrinkable products expansion have been developed. The transfer of this technology to Polish industry was performed in the middle of the 1980-ties. The present study aims at the formulation of new PE composites better suited to new generation of heat shrinkable products, for example, a new generation of hot-melt adhesives has been developed to meet specific requirements of customers. Modified polypropylene was used for the production of medical devices sterilized by radiation, especially disposable syringes, to overcome the low radiation resistance of the basic material. Modified polypropylene (PP-M) has been formulated at the INCT to provide material suitable for medical application and radiation sterilization process. Modification of semiconductor devices by EB was applied on an industrial scale since 1978 when the INCT and the LAMINA semiconductor factory successfully adopted that technology to improve specific semiconductor devices. This activity is continued on commercial basis where the INCT facilities served to contract irradiation of certain semiconductor devices according to the manufacturing program of the Polish factory and customers from abroad.

W sezonie letnim 2000, a następnie wiosną i latem 2001 roku przeprowadzono badania właściwości fizyczno-chemicznych wody i podłoża w siedliskach roślinności makrofitowej oraz w wolnym od roślinności śródjezierzu Jeziora Zbąszyńskiego na Pojezierzu Lubuskim. Celem tych badań było stwierdzenie czy istnieją różnice siedliskowe pomiędzy zbiorowiskami makrofitów oraz pomiędzy nimi a śródjezierzem. W tym celu próbki pobrano wzdłuż trzech transektów przecinających zbiorowiska roślinności szuwarowej i wodnej i kończących się w najgłębszym miejscu śródjezierza. Stwierdzono istnienie pewnych różnic pomiędzy stanowiskami badawczymi, bardziej wyrażone w przypadku cech podłoża niż wody, co potwierdza wcześniejsze doniesienia literaturowe. Przewodnictwo elektrolityczne i odczyn w wodzie oraz odczyn w podłożu okazały się parametrami nie wykazującymi różnic pomiędzy badanymi stanowiskami. Równocześnie stwierdzono brak silnych korelacji pomiędzy rozpatrywanymi cechami wody i podłoża. Wykazano także, iż sezonowe różnice wartości cech siedliskowych były wyraźniejsze niż różnice przestrzenne i dotyczyły przede wszystkim cech wody.

The objectives of the study were habitats occupied by different macrophyte communities as well as macrophyte free habitats of a shallow lake ecosystem. Field investigations were carried out in the summer season 2000 and repeated in spring and summer 2001 in Lake Zbąszyńskie (Lubuskie Lakeland). The aim of the study was (1) to find out if there exist habitat differences among macrophyte communities, and between them and the mid-lake section of the study lake, (2) to define the water and substratum properties differing the studied habitats. As a result some differences between sampling sites were found, and the substratum properties appeared to differ the studied habitats more visibly. No strong correlations between the water and substratum habitats were found as to evidence the above findings. Noteworthy, seasonal habitat differences were much higher than the spatial ones.
