This paper presents detailed results of facies and microfacies analyses of deposits from the Triassic- Jurassic boundary within the Križna Unit (Tatra Mountains). Through comprehensive lithological, petrographic, and palaeontological analysis, several facies have been distinguished, reflecting varied sedimentary conditions, ranging from high-energy shallow-marine environments strongly influenced by wave activity, to quiet lagoons periodically isolated from the open sea. Special attention has been given to unique chamosite oncoids, which clearly indicate transitional shallow-water environments and suggest a marine regression accompanied by freshwater influx rich in iron compounds. These findings fill gapa in our knowledge of palaeoenvironmental dynamics in the studied region of the Western Tatras, providing significant data for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions of the northwestern margin of the Tethys Ocean.
