Niniejszy artykuł powstał na bazie badań dotyczących wpływu układu przestrzennego gruntów ornych na efektywność wapnowania gleb, prowadzonych w ramach projektu pn. „Możliwości i bariery wykorzystania wapnowania gleb do poprawy efektywności ekonomicznej produkcji rolnej oraz ograniczenia eutrofizacji wód powierzchniowych” realizowanych przez zespół ekspertów z Uniwersytetu Rolniczego w Krakowie. Chociaż głównym przedmiotem badań było określenie czynników, jakie wpływają na niedostateczny poziom stosowania przez rolników nawozów wapniowych w uprawie roli, to analizowano również wpływ układów gruntowych i kierunku uprawy na efektywność wapnowania gleb. Obserwacje i analizy w tym zakresie zrealizowano w małopolskiej gminie Polanka Wielka (powiat oświęcimski). Wyniki tych prac pozwoliły na stwierdzenie, że wzdłużstokowy kierunek uprawy gruntów ornych nawet na terenach o niezbyt dużych deniwelacjach terenu, w przypadku gdy przestrzeń rolnicza pozbawiona jest naturalnych przeszkód dla spływu wody lub zabiegów przeciwerozyjnych, znacząco obniża efektywność wapnowania gleb. Scalenia gruntów mogą w takich przypadkach stanowić ważne narzędzie poprawy efektywności nawożenia wapniowego oraz zapobiegać utracie cennych składników pokarmowych z gleby. Wyniki prac badawczych posłużyły do sformułowania wniosków i rekomendacji.

This article is based on research about the impact of the spatial arrangement of arable land on the effectiveness of soil liming, conducted as part of the project entitled "Possibilities and barriers to the use of soil liming to improve the economic efficiency of agricultural production and reduce the eutrophication of surface waters" carried out by a team of experts from the University of Agriculture in Krakow. Although the main subject of the research was to determine the factors that affect the insufficient level of use of calcium fertilizers by farmers in soil cultivation, the impact of parcels arrangement and cultivation direction on the effectiveness of soil liming was also analysed. Observations and analyzes in this regard were carried out in the Malopolska's commune of Polanka Wielka (Oświęcim poviat). The results of these works allowed to conclude that the longitudinal direction of arable land cultivation, even in areas with not very large terrain denivelations, when the agricultural space is devoid of natural obstacles to water runoff or anti-erosion treatments, reduces the effectiveness of soil liming. In such cases, land consolidation can be an important tool to improve the effectiveness of calcium fertilization and prevent the loss of valuable nutrients from the soil. The results of the research work were used to formulate conclusions and recommendations.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to diagnose attitudes and consumption behaviors among the young adults, regarding food consumption in Poland. Design/methodology/approach: 483 respondents took a part in the research. They were students of three Cracovian universities, representing all voivodships in Poland. The research instrument consisted of two types of questions: traditional closed survey questions and a series of projection questions, based on fictional characters, which the respondents had to assess and determine the degree of identification with the attitudes and behaviors described. Findings: The research revealed some akrasia. The relatively high level of awareness regarding the effects of unsustainable production and consumption of young adults did not translate into consumption behavior of a sustainable nature. The curiosity regarding origin of the product and its composition turned out to be low, as was the feeling of responsibility for their own decisions. There was a tendency to expect the transition of responsibility to food producers and the institutional environment. Young adults pay special attention to food prices and easy access to shopping. Local marketplaces are a niche shopping place. The majority of food is purchased in large-area stores, where consumers are not informed about the place of origin of food. The respondents group is characterized by high outside-diagonality, solutions forcing more sustainable behavior, for example, the payment for plastic bags, the need for recycling of waste meet with wide acceptance. Originality/value: The research revealed enforcing proecological behaviors by institutions seems to be a more effective than building consumer awareness.

Introduction/background: The paper has considerable cognitive value for the increase of knowledge in one of the areas of structural transformations in agriculture and rural regions, namely in tendencies regarding the varying number of farms and the size of utilised agricultural areas. Aim of the paper: The purpose of this paper is a synthetic evaluation of selected aspects of structural transformations observed in agriculture in Świętokrzyskie Province in the period 2005-2018. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in a number of poviats, for which original 20 data were presented as regards agriculture and farming in Świętokrzyskie Province, in the dynamic perspective, for the period 2005-2018. The actual data were obtained from the the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture in Poland. The paper uses the basic measurements applicable in statistical analysis, dynamic analysis and cause-and-effect analysis. Results and conclusions: Based on the conducted study, it was found that the area of farms was reduced by 2.53% in 2005-2018 in Świętokrzyskie Province; the largest reduction was observed in the following poviats: Skarżysko (15.93%) and Kielce (13.3%); However, much more serious changes were noted in the number of farms. These changes were observed in all poviats, and the reduction in the number of farms was 56.1% across the whole region. In 2005-2018, there was a marked increase in the average size of an individual farm, from 2.8 ha to 6.1 ha, which may be seen as a major change as compared to previous tendencies in the agrarian structure of farms in Poland.
