The very high effort to fulfill the requirements of accuracy is one reason why optical voltage transformers are not often used in power grids commercially. The temperature behavior of such sensors depends not only on optical components their self but also on the kind how to fix the optical components in the enclosure. Based on a theoretical background a prototype of an optical voltage transformer is presented. The optical components are fixed on a glass bracket with adhesive. The paper presents how several types of adhesive can change the temperature behaviour of the optical voltage sensor dramatically. It will be shown that not every adhesive is suitable to fix the optical components. Temperature tests with 4 different adhesives in the temperature range from -40 deg C to +70 deg C will be presented. With the most suitable adhesive it is possible to decrease the temperature dependence of optical voltage sensors to +/-0.5 prec.. A long term test of about 11 months attests the long term stability of the designed optical voltage sensor.
