„Niezbędne i użyteczne” - rezydencja polowa Augusta Mocnego z 1732 roku na szczycie Króliczej Góry w Warszawie

Latem 2022 roku minęło 290 lat od największego w dziejach Rzeczypospolitej pokazu artystyczno-militarnego. Wielki Kampament Augusta Mocnego, który rozegrał się w 1732 roku u podnóża Skarpy Warszawskiej, był szeroko zakrojonym przedsięwzięciem logistycznym, inżynieryjno-budowlanym oraz wizerunkowym. Obok militarnej rewii prezentującej sprawność i stan uzbrojenia wojsk polskich, litewskich i saskich pod koroną Wettynów, bezprecedensowym zjawiskiem było stworzenie tymczasowej rezydencji dla monarchy. Na szczycie cypla Skarpy Warszawskiej nazwanego Króliczą Górą, w miejscu hodowli łownych królików, stworzone zostało tymczasowe założenie pałacowo-ogrodowe projektu Carla Friedricha Pöppelmanna. Niewielki, dwukondygnacyjny pawilon mieścił w swoim wnętrzu zarówno prywatne apartamenty królewskie, jak i rozległą salę biesiadną z otwartą galerią. Widok z galerii pawilonu posadowionego na wysokości 107 m n.p.m. obejmował nie tylko dwa place manewrowe sięgające brzegu Wisły, ale także cały okołowarszawski odcinek jej doliny. Pawilon poprzedzony został ozdobnym ogrodem, którego główną dekoracją, oprócz parterów gazonowych, były drzewka pomarańczowe. Dzięki wykonanym przez Autora badaniom możliwe jest poznanie wartości funkcjonalnych i artystycznych królewskiego obozowiska na Króliczej Górze. Założenie pałacowo-ogrodowe było jednym z ważniejszych węzłów kompozycyjnych rozległego zespołu krajobrazowego królewskich posiadłości Augusta Mocnego w Warszawie. Jednak ta bezprecedensowa w historii sztuki ogrodowej i architektury Rzeczypospolitej miniatura królewskiej rezydencji przestała istnieć już w 1736 roku.

The summer of 2022 marked 290 years since the largest artistic and military show in the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Great Campaign of Augustus the Strong, which took place in 1732 at the foot of the Warsaw Escarpment, was an extensive logistical, engineering, construction and image undertaking. In addition to the military revue presenting the prowess and state of armaments of the Polish, Lithuanian and Saxon armies under the Wettin crown, the creation of a temporary residence for the monarch was unprecedented. On top of the shelf of the Warsaw Escarpment called a Rabbit Hill, a temporary palace and garden ensemble designed by Carl Friedrich Pöppelmann was created in a place where rabbits were bred for hunting. The small, two-storey pavilion contained both private royal apartments and an extensive feasting hall with an open gallery. The view from the gallery of the pavilion, sited 107 metres above sea level, covered not only the two manoeuvring yards reaching the banks of the Vistula River, but also the entire central section of its valley. The pavilion was preceded by an ornamental garden, the main decoration of which, apart from the English parterres, were orange trees. For the first time it is possible to gain a closer insight into the functional and artistic values of the royal encampment on Rabbit Hill. This miniature of the royal residence, unprecedented in the history of garden art and architecture in the Republic of Poland, ceased to exist as early as 1736. The fully functional palace and garden ensemble was one of the most important compositional nodes of the vast landscape complex of the royal properties of Augustus the Strong in Warsaw.

Autentyczność ogrodu historycznego, definiowana przez zapisy Karty Florenckiej, sprzyja jej szerokiej interpretacji. W dobie współczesnego kryzysu wartości konserwatorskich, wymagana jest identyfikacja kryteriów pomocnych w obiektywnej ocenie autentyzmu zarówno form roślinności historycznej, jak i historyzującej. Na przykładzie rozwiązań rewaloryzacyjnych ogrodów pałacowych w Wilanowie, a także stanu wybranych elementów zieleni miejskiej Warszawy, możliwa jest weryfikacja - przyjętego przez autora artykułu - modelu waloryzacji czynników determinujących autentyzm form roślinności. Model ten pozwala także na podkreślenie cech określających rolę ogrodów królewskich w Wilanowie w utrzymywaniu historycznych wartości ogrodniczych współczesnej Warszawy.

The authenticity of the historical garden, as defined by the Florence Charter, is conducive to its broad interpretation. In the era of the present crisis of conservation values, the identification of criteria helpful in an objective assessment of the authenticity of both historical and historising forms of greenery is required. On the example of the restoration’s solutions in the gardens at Wilanów and the condition of selected elements of the urban greenery in Warsaw, it is possible to verify the model of valorization of factors determining the vegetation’s authenticity proposed by the author of the article. This model also allows to emphasize the features determining the role of royal gardens in Wilanów in maintaining the historical horticultural values of modern Warsaw.
