The most important physical property of concrete is its durability that is fulfilling requirements for which it was created for. Among many parameters which are formed during production process the most inconvenient is freeze - thaw resistance. At the stage of designing freeze thaw resistance is predicated on test results basis. In Poland till present moment most often applied method of freeze-thaw resistance researches is common method according to PN-88/B-06250. Concrete standard PN EN 2006-1 valid at the present, doesn’t bring any information regarding testing method depending on environmental conditions in which designed construction will be placed. In practice testing method is pointed by the investor and designer of the building, hat in present moment have essential importance in line with pro - ecological and pro - economical solutions forcing application of cements with more and more content of mineral additives. So the question arises how to design concretes based of those cements and what test method to choose to obtain durable construction in scope of freeze thaw resistance. In the paper results of freeze-thaw resistance researches on concrete based at cements with various content of granulated blast furnace slag are presented, test was carried out comparatively according to common method PN-88/B-06250 as well as basis method recommended by PKN - CEN/TS 12390-9.
